Ghetto Gospel (Issue 2) Started by: Prophet at Sep 06, '10 03:56

First in the door for this weeks paper. I like it.

Why change the name of the paper? Because "holy news" doesn't have a ring to it, and Ghetto Gospel makes sense...

Ghetto:
An impoverished, neglected, or otherwise disadvantaged residential area of a city, usually troubled by a disproportionately large amount of crime (Crime infested streets check)
Gospel:
Effectively means "good news".

Ghetto Gospel
Issue 2

By Prophet&Co.

A source of mine has told me that he had wanted a re-cap of some previous wars that have shaped the mafioso world to what it is today. ENJOY!

CHI/NO power couple fall
The war to start all wars...

July 25th, a statement from the late Godfather Gwarble of Philadelphia

If you don't care what happened yesterday and are just delighted that your old buddy Gwarble came through it unscathed, no need to listen to me any further. I did guys. I'm still here, which is the most important detail of all this. I'm sure you'll all agree.

Moving on to the more intricate details of the situation yesterday, I'll explain my own position and allow the heads of Los Angeles and New York to do so if they wish. As you are probably aware, Chicago and New Orleans have been considered close friends of ours. Indeed, many remain to be such and will hopefully understand if not agree with the decision that was taken yesterday. They participated fully in the removal of CrazyNine from Philly and they aided us against New York and St Louis.

The speech the late Godfather made after his removal of the power couple New Orleans and Chicago. This was the spark in a fire of wars to come, after this Spacemountain had retired and left his riches, men and city to DonPardo. And if you don't believe me I have the transcript to prove it!

After calling in his RHW, SpaceMountain unveiled his plans of a sweet and well deserved retirement, finishing with this to say...

SpaceMountain:“And you might want to go ahead and call up DonPardo to congratulate him. He’ll be taking over my operations here in Los Angeles.”

DonPardo, a quiet man, the new big man of LA, a sea of soldiers ready to die for him, so what did he do with that? Well he and what seemed like the whole world came knocking on the Roman Empire's doorstep, DonPardo, Diablos, Odin, TheDean, Paul Vidi, they all stood shoulder to shoulder against the might of the Roman Army. It was a David vs Goliath battle! But as the waves grew weaker and weaker against the solid defenses of the Roman Empire. The unstoppable force against the immovable object, it would spell the end of the mafia world, unless something budged...

It was the removal of TheDean's forces that signalled the end of the war, TheDean honourably thought of his own forces and city and pulled them out to stop the deaths, the unstoppable force was now divided; while the Roman Empire with Hurricane Colin stayed united. Evangeline moved from the lions den, apparently too crowded for her likings. So she moved to tame the mean streets of Deee-Troit! The war was in it's final stages, the last hundred metres, Odin had seen that this was the end, Roman the wise had seen the potential in Odin and had offered him a lifeline and his own city! Odin accepted of course, he had saved his crew members, but there was something left...

Diablos. The two guardian forces stood shoulder to should, one could not live without the other, so Odin persuaded Roman to let Diablos take an Under boss position. The war was ended, no more pieces on the board just the king; DonPardo, and as a chess game it was the Queen who was checkmate piece, Evangeline had taken and landed the shot on DonPardo ending the war.

Roman had done the impossible, he had not only managed to defend himself but help his sister city from being ended as well, a 2 Vs. the World battle! And the Roman Empire survived, stamping Roman's position in the mafia world as a force to be reckoned with!

Man Vs God
Odin's Clash with the Roman Empire.

The man who was thrown a lifeline by Roman in the previous war and had his best friend saved by Roman decided that he wanted to control the crime world, which is quite understandable and probably accepted people hate stagnancy, but the way it was executed showed the time spent on the planning, and the amount information given to soldiers and family members. In fact it looks as if the Roman Empire wasn't the only one taken by surprise, Odin's men and women seemed not ready, and that cost them the war effectively. Although this was a flop of a war, it wasn't a total failure, they had managed to kill two godfathers. Colin and Evangeline, both have only just taken the reigns of their city as Godfather, both taken far too early.

It was meant to be a time of peace, but it seems Odin and Diablos still had hurt feelings about how the last war went, even though it was probably more successful in the end for the both of them. In fact I am also confused on this matter so I had tracked down a former member, actually more or less he had tracked me down, and asked for an interview on the matter. How could I say no!?

Prophet:

Hello Mr X, may we begin or is there something you want to say before hand?

Mr X:

Just that it's great to be here. Thank you for having me....

(Again it will cost $10,000 to view this rather controversial interview.)

(OOC: This is not the view of Chicago or any of its members, any who have taken an offense I apologize in advance)

So even former members think that the war was a failure in planning and in execution, honestly with the numbers and the advantage of surprise Roman should havefell (I hope Roman that you do not take this the wrong way, but the odds were stacked up against you). This should be an example of why planning is an essential part of every war! Planning is half the battle, from the team at Ghetto Gospel we wish Roman luck with Future endeavours, he has fought hard for this and deserves to soak it all up.

Modern Day Robin Hood
The Dead walks, talks and steals...

Alright, since the streets have been on life support from Furor's stories and these three papers that have actually just popped out of no where! Hopefully my rivals will disappear like a fart to the wind, but until then I will continue this story.

A man, a dead man, a dead noble gangster who happens to be a man, Judgedeath has taken it upon himself to be renown for being the first gangster to give away free money... with no strings attached. But there are a few conditions that have made me apart of that group that is excluded from Judgedeath's free loans almost lotto!

Over the next week I will pick an average of 70 pockets, and earn a potential $350,000. I wish to give this handsome figure to one enterprising Associate member of this thing of ours. I have only 3 stipulations to entering a claim for the money.

1) You must be an associate member of a family... IE you must be between the ranks of Petty Thief and Wise Guy and have a sponsor.

2) You can not be Rich or Extremely Rich. Remember I steal from the rich so that rules you out. This includes assets. If I see you are well protected then you will not qualify.

3) You must come here and tell me why you deserve my money. What hardluck story makes you more deserving of my ill-gotten gains than the next schlub.

That is all the stipulations I have. So starting at 7am today I will keep a record of all the money I steal and in 7 days I will award that money to one deserving individual. Whose it gonna be?

So everybody Mademan+ is in-eligible to enter this lotto, where Judgedeath decides who is in a pathetic enough situation to deserve the money. So I did what every good reporter would do, jump on the man that has the biggest story out, kick and scream until he gives you an interview. SO I asked him what he though of himself, he had this to say:

Yesss, I would call myssself a professsional pick pocket. However itsss not all work, I do derive a certain amout of sssatisssfaction in hunting my targetsss, and in my own ssspecial way "Making them Pay". Asss for the Robin Hood Fund... well I've picked over 350 pocketsss in my career thusss far, and made over $1.3m from that alone, I jussst felt it wasss time to give sssomething back to the community, and in the processss increassseassse awarnessss of who I am asss a perssson and asss a member of our community. After all there are complete idiotsss out there who would think I wasss jussst a lossser, whereasss thossse who know me already know that isss asss far from the truth asss possssible.

So the man as honourable intentions and a selfish desire all wrapped up in one! This is impressive, actually I applaud the man *clap* *clap* now that is over I thought well wait... What if he happens to stick his dead, dirty, cold fingers into someone's pockets that has a tattoo that says "PP unfriendly". Don't know why you would get those tats, ugly things. Anyway he said this about what happens if he does get caught in the act:

I alwaysss try to avoid thossse who openly disssplay an aversssion to pick pocketing, you know the typesss, the onesss with tattoosss disssplaying their dissslike. I don't alwaysss get it right though, I have missssed the tattoo in my hurry... there are alssso a few who hate to be pick pocketed but refussse to disssplay their aversssion, I've gotten into trouble in the past with a few people like that.

Yes I would imagine so, you are quite unique and I like that, a dishonourable man who does honourable things for a somewhat dishonourable reason. A good, wait scratch that a GREAT job you have done, it is one of those cases where someone does more after death then when they were alive. So we wish anyone lucky/unlucky enough to qualify for Judgedeath's pot, I hear it is over $300,000 right now.

LAST MINUTE NEWS!

If empty you people should be doing something to fill it up!

Jonnie Reese Calls out on the haters
He loves leaving you Stupid & Bamboozled!

Jonnie Reese, the man under the spotlight, the man who people question, the man who makes people question Roman (not to his face). This man, apart of the fabled Premeir bloodline, a golden one indeed, countless auths, but people question whether the auths are on hard work or on trust? Well I went to the big man himself, Jonnie Reese had this to say on the matter.

September 3rd, Interview with Jonnie Reese

Start of Interview

My Reese may i ask a few questions for my paper?
-------------------------------------
Sure
-------------------------------------
What would you say to those people who question your auth? Mainly because of your previous auths are so close together?
-------------------------------------
I enjoy it when people question my auth. Ask the people who have worked for me and the i worked for, my family lines stand and deliever 100% of the time. I will out perform almost everyone out there. So question my auth, my actions, my rules, because i love making people look stupid.
-------------------------------------
Very truthful, I see you don't need a Mr X veil to express your feelings, I respect that.

Being Roman's underboss, one of two, would you have knowledge on plans for New Orleans and/or St. Louis. If so are you able to shed some light on the masses?

-------------------------------------
I have knowledge on lots of stuff, don't mean imma go blabbing it everywhere. You some type of cop?
-------------------------------------
If I am a cop would you be more likely to give me the information? No, well I wouldn't think so, so for the purpose of this "particular" interview, I am just plain ol' James Marshall or Prophet if you would prefer, just doing his job.

"I have knowledge on lots of stuff, don't mean imma go blabbing it everywhere. You some type of cop?"

don't mean? hmm, there's room for an answer in there, but will you give it to the public?

-------------------------------------
Can not release anything to the public as of right now
-------------------------------------
End Of Interview

~Prophet~

As you can see I tried to get you people developing plans on New Orleans and St. Louis, but now back to the main story, Jonnie Reese, although Crew Leader countless of times has earned this honour because of the work he did, not because of the work his father did, or his grand daddy, or his great gran daddy! So if you have a problem with Jonnie Reese out perform him, rank up and then do something about it. One person whining isn't going to change anything, as they say "it's the quiet ones you gotta watch out for."

(ooc: This is not the general view of Chicago, or/and endorsed by Chicago or any of its members. It was just a rather nice sounding statement that I thought I needed to put in somewhere)

Read as I judge your stories.

The Adventures Of Furor Part 6:

As we most of us know, Mr "Furor" (Not Fuhrer for any of you wondering) as graced our beloved streets with tales of his clashes with barmen, hitmen, thugs and policeman! He has arrived unscathed through all bar one, which may hurt his score in the realism part.
This story from now though shall be used as our 3 out of 5, the middle ground. This will not affect this stories score, just others in future, if they are better or worse.

  1. Storyline flow: 3/5, the story flow(based on series, others not in a series will be judged differently on actual story flow not storyline flow) of this series is somewhat confused, still in chronological order, but it has skipped bits. Like listening to a scratched record, the negative side to this is that the audience will never truly get the storyline until the end, the positive side is that it leaves the audience confused and wanting for more.

  2. Length: 4/5, this was a short story and is written in a good length, it doesn't hurt your eyes and it is direct which it is meant to be which I found quite... refreshing.

  3. Ending+Beginning: These are the parts of the story that make you want to read till the end and make you read the next in the series! I give this a solid 4.5/5. The beginning starts wellish although it is the end of these stories that leave you going... "wait a minute? What happens next!". Quite an effective writing style this is.

  4. Originality: 5 out of fucking 5! Never ever have I seen such a series, it has fury, suspense and violence. Maybe not to the taste of the finer ladies out there or the prinnier boys but definitely something worth reading if you are into action and reads that you can read later as they are short stories.

  5. Realism: 3.5/5, Furor, has made one fatal flaw in his stories though, he has only been beaten in one of his stories, now I don't know about whoever Furor has pissed off but if my men kept getting their asses kicked, maybe send ten more? Or soldiers that are ten times better? So he lost some marks there, if one just keeps winning the storyline can get... old. If you read an action story that had the good guy always winning, every time! With no twist or change, well i think you should change books. But not this one, this series is still fairly new and deserves a little bit more time to grow.

Overall Score

4/5

A fairly good story, it is riveting waiting on what Mr Furor has next to say, the words almost jump at you! With the fury and intensity of it all! An excellent read that I recommend for all, but I suggest reading the first otherwise you will be even more confused than me!

Your Ghetto Gospel is brought to you by Prophet

An excellent read again my friend, I truly enjoyed it keep up the good work.

Cosmo walks down the pavement and across several roads completely oblivious to the carnage going on around him as cars swerve to avoid the lunatic wandering the streets engrossed in the latest issue of the Ghetto Gospel.  After finally crashing into a lamp-post he stops a newspaper boy wandering past

Prophet?  You seen Prophet?  Any idea where he is?  This is great, I need to get the latest Mr X.

The wee boy shakes his head and Cosmo runs off, stopping random strangers until finally a "Woohoo" is heard and whoosh....Cosmo is off.

I love reading these! I already cant wait for the next one to come out.

Keep up the good work Prophet

Llywelyn was sitting around sipping on some coffee when he noticed the Ghetto Gospel. After reading his paper(and finishing his coffee, of course), Llywelyn heads off to find Prophet.

Fantastic, sir! I have this feeling that I will be looking forward to reading your paper for some time to come. Keep up the good work!

Dude I have to say your suit's are Great, your News is Great is there anything you can't do?....I tip my hat to You Prophet.

See Prophet walking down the street and confronts him.

Now, this is what i call a NEWS paper i have seen another newspaper passed around theses streets made by someone called "Priscilla" and there is no news in it? All it contains is the opinion of a moany person... I mean that is not what i want from a newspaper at all.

Shakes Prophets hand.

There is no competition around here, your the clear winner.

Grabs a copy of the Ghetto Gospel and sits on a park bench, her cane propped next to her. " Hmm.not bad, not bad.." She enjoyed reading every article and was glad that it was worth the purchase from Frankie over at the booth outside the park. Some men nearby played chess and every three minutes one could hear the cries of an old lady from her purse being stolen. She wasn't worried though. Her cane had a built in knife.

Foxy examines her copy and is quite pleased with the results of Prophets successfuly written newspaper. The interviews make you want to keep hearing more specially the one by Mr. X, I would suggest everyone buy a copy of that bad boy because it is worth every penny. Foxy begins to count down for the next issue, just hopeing she can entertain herself long enough so time flys by.

An excellent read Mr Prophet.

A very interesting account of the recent wars and the solid defence put up by Godfather Roman and his troops.

Taking everything into account, I think your NEWSpaper is the best on the streets at the moment. I look forward to the others raising their game and producing newsworthy articles to match you. This will obviously mean you will have some proper competition.

Looking forward to the next edition of all the papers and we will see who surrenders first

Solid paper, look forward to seeing if you can continue this nice work.

You have always had a way with words Prophet.  I enjoyed reading your paper, and I hope I can continue to do so for a long time.

Prophet this is such a good piece of work. The format and all the stories included. good job to you and those that helped you write this.

Lorthan reads his copy of the paper at the restaurant while waiting for his food

Great paper! nice work i enjoyd reading it alot

After reading the Ghetto Gospel, Paul decides he wants to advertise in this newspaper too. And finds Prophets office

Hello, mr.Prophet I enjoyed your newspaper and I would like to advertise one of my buisnesses in their

GUESS WHOSE BACK!? Well not Prophet... May he rest in piece. I am his nephew, yes I am a coloured man, yes I can read and write no get the fuck over it! I will be taking over his business, next issue will be out tomorrow as scheduled.

Batman notices a new face in the street calling himself Prophet's Nephew. I walk up to the man called Makavelli and offer a cuban cigar to pay my respects for his loss.

This is a very nice paper you got going on Makavelli I am looking forward to the next one on scedule. Also would like to say I can see the time and effort your company has taken to gather this information and type it up nice and neatly.
