The New Statesman

In the first of many opinion pieces from your humble narrator, I, ManicStreetPreacher, will be giving my thoughts on the stories of the day.  Often delving into Nadsat, these will often echo some of the opinions being spoken in the Street, but recorded here for posterity, debate and dissection.

So, my little Droogies, what’s been making the news today?

William_H_Bonnie – Self Regulation On An Epic Scale.

Mr Bonnie took to Streets yesterday, all serious like, declaring that he had a heavy heart but had to talk.  What did Mr Bonnie have to say that was so important?  Well, let’s have a viddy at what the Veck in question said.  Old Bonnie stated that he was talking about “recent grumblings about a lack of leadership in Philly” before , rather assumingly, saying “all of you seemed to have noticed as of late a lack of communication from many leaders since before the war”. 

Old Bonnie got it dead wrong, Oh My Brothers, when he said all of us had noticed.  I hadn’t noticed a thing.  Did you?  Philly kept themselves to themselves, I suppose, but that’s no bad thing now, is it?  Especially in the old climate.  But back to Old Bonnie...

Your humble narrator is speaking in an unfamiliar argot, of this I am aware.  But even Nadsat to new Droogs like you makes more of the old senseiwegg than the insane drivel Old Bonnie came out with;

“Now even after leaders are afraid to come forward and show that they are in fact taking a stand and moving their cities in the right direction.”

Old Bonnie’s faculties seem to have gone for a Burton with that old statement.  But it gets worse;

“For those who have held their silence, out of fear, shame, or lack of anything to say you should be ashamed”

Old Bonnie appears one mad Veck here.  He seems to be saying to all and sundry that the people who were ashamed should, well, be ashamed.  That’s a bit like saying...  I’m not quite sure, oh my brothers, what is that like saying?  Old Bonnie continues...

“Lead your people, show the mafia world what's being accomplished and that the times of fear and hiding thoughts and emotions are gone. Unify or fall victim to your cowardly selfish ways.”

Ah, that old cliché – but fear not, for Old Bonnie, for all his failings as a wordsmith, analyst, philosopher and criminal does have one talent – publicity.

For Old Bonnie shot himself right through how own old head in front of the, well, small crowd – group, I should say – and left people wonder, left, right, centre, up & down what in Jah’s good name he was on about.

Old Bonnie; I salute you as one of the nuttiest fruitcakes to walk this land.

All I can say is that Old bonnie may be a victim of the Ludovico Technique.
