Robot Retirement Party | Started by: AlabamaWorley on Nov 17, '11 08:56 |
Well, I figure this needs to be addressed given the large scale of on going discussion in OOC Avenue and IRC Avenue. |

Personally, I am looking forward to the upcoming changes that City Hall workers will be implementing into our society to change the way that these "robots" as you call them work for us. I cannot wait to see the changes that they bring with them and hope that the staff down at City Hall can be given a bit of a thank you for listening to YOUR concerns and adapting our society to meet everyone's needs. |

Specs arrives with a collection of festive hats, kazoo, and a cake.
I heard a party was going on... Oh wow, that comes to...82 dead robots if my counting is correct, and at 6 mil reimbursed that comes to...492 million dollars has just been introduced. Upon checking the commercial records at the Fed, that's roughly a 61% increase in total currency. I think. |

My mistake, 76 dead robots, 456 million dollar reimbursement, 58% increase. |

Specs, the increase you speak of is somewhat blurred. You forget to take into account the fact a portion of that revenue would have been received in due course from the Robot anyway. So its not as big a difference as you might think. |

That's true. I did forget to take into account the regular earning "schedule" by the robots. I also agree that these people are certainly entitled to be reimbursed for their losses. I'm not trying to say anything bad about these aspects and I do hope that the new money goes to recouping the spent credits as well. I'm merely pointing out the big bump itself as an economic "shock". It's a large, sudden increase in money floating around. |

Good thing those special coins used to purchase the robotic Neato Pet Monkeys are around $100,000 cheaper than they were back then eh? They'll be able to recoup their losses in the special coin department just fine now, in fact they'll be able to purchase a few more coins even since they walked away with a more than fairly sized profit. |

Hurrah, the NPMs are gone. We can try to return to a normal sense of life. While I believe it is the single worst decision ever, whats done is done. Now we will really see what those in bold suits are made of when they're required to actually interact with members and make themselves known. Good luck to you all with that venture. |

Just curious Mona, who was it who decided to inject a massive amount of money into the world economy and who was it who advocated to just let the NPMs complete the contracts at their usual pace and usually earning capacity? |

The folks down at City Hall of course. After the Godfather Council left them struggling to come up with viable ways to maintain the world as we know it. They really have no choice but to instill the changes in the way that these automatons work within the world rather than omit the very existence of them entirely. There are expenses that they must cover in order for the population of this thing of ours to have somewhere to populate after all. |

Well, I don't know how the folks in City Hall think and neither do you. I don't know what expenses they must cover and neither do you. I don't know what they need to do to maintain the world and neither do you, because this is our world and here power makes the rules and decides what is right and what is wrong. The Godfather Council decided that NPMs weren't in the best interests of their families and their cities, including the boss of your own city. |

I was quite pleased when i awoke from my slumber to find the Gods had pulled the plug on these robots. They were a general annoyance. One thing that pleases me is that now you can actually see how many people a crew has, real people, that actually get things done. This is a great decision, i am sure in a couple of days the NPM's will have been completely forgotten about. |

The only issue I have with this is that the Godfather Council never said it was a permanent ban on npms but one that would be revisited if needbe. If thats the case then removing them from the game completely takes away the chance to revisit it. Maybe in a month's time they would have decided it had a negative impact and brought them back assuming the godfather council still stands at that time. Is it ok to take away that feature in this situation? I guess we all need more evidence before we can take it any further. |

I'm fairly new here, so there must be missing something because NPM's don't make a lot of sense to me.
They take a spot a regular family member could have, and let's say they earn 6m (which I've been told is a generous estimate). They cost approx 3m (10 credits, let's say 300k a credit for arguments sake), which means over the course of a month, they earn approx 3m, which is less than a human member would make. They don't fight back in wars, they don't contribute to the crewleaders defence, they're inferior to human members in pretty much every way possible. I understand that ofc, if you have 5 free spaces, you'd be tempted to then get NPMs in to fill the gaps, but if I were a leader I'd much rather have a human family member? I don't really understand banning them because as far as I can tell, it actually weakens a crew to have them really? |
