Poor Man's Casino | Started by: Anubis on Nov 16, '12 02:01 |
The casinos are great. One of my favorite features of this game. Why? Because I've been doing casinos since the first character I ever had here. I'm a money maker, that's what I do. I don't shoot, I don't do much RP, I click buttons, I read posts, and I make money.
This is why I propose "Poor Man Casinos"
I picture the Casinos as the grand-scale casinos you'd see in Las Vegas, just starting to spring up. To keep things fair, in our alternate universe these are springing up in every city, but that's a necessary evil. My poor man casinos would be the street-games that your associates would be running. They'd be cheap to buy, I think of it about mid-way between DFP and Casinos, and you would have different street-level games.
When I started StripheCorelli ran a dice game in the streets that was loved. It was a simple guess-the-roll game, two die are rolled and you guess. If you're right, you win. Otherwise you lose. I'd love to see this in the poor man casino.
Three card monte is another that would be great.
Ball-and-cup which is similar to three card monte, except with a ball and three cups.
That's three different game ideas, I'm sure you guys can think of more.
Now to get to WHY I would like this. The reason is really as simple as it is important: I am first and foremost a money maker. I love making as much money as I can, and up to this point there are very few features actually tailor made for people like me. Not features of any substance. We have Casinos and DFPs. These don't do much for us. The way I'd love to see the game move is in a direction where, no matter what you want to achieve, you have things to help you get there. Me, personally, I just want to quietly make money for my family, without making a lot of noise, and get rich, while getting as many people around me as rich as I can. Others like to kill things. That's never been my gig, so I'm happy to stick to what I do. |

I also basically want to make money. (Well really I just want money so I can own ALL THE DRUGS and destroy the post office, but still.) |

I must say, im intrigued by the idea. My understanding though was that there was already too much money in the game? |

This wouldn't bring money into the game. Much like the casinos, it would shuffle money from person to person, but not actually bring any more in. It would actually REMOVE money, because the cost to build it up, and any possible maintanence costs (bribing cops to not run you out of the alley, or park, or whatever) |

That's actually a very good point, I've never looked at casinos like that. |

I quite like this idea as I myself loved running a casino but where it's pretty much limited to one per city (usually the city head) a cheaper smaller level of street gambling could be good. |

Seems like a good idea, we just need to figure out which sort of games... would need to be added. I'm not sure if I'd be too keen on dice being added though. |

If this was to be put in, it would only be fair to the existing owners if it was put in when there were no owners. |

That's assuming these are competition for casinos, which I don't think is the case. They're serving different clentele for the most part. This would be for the younger accounts and the more fiscally conservative and/or risk adverse older accounts. |

I feel this could be merged with Phil's family jobs idea as well. |

That posts suggests that the rackets be upgradeable into casinos, and I believe that's the part of it that will cause near universal dismissal. The rest of it isn't framed as well as this one either, which does matter.
This idea is better than ever with districts coming. Tell me it doesn't make sense for there to be some low level guy running a neighborhood dice game? |

This idea has a fair bit more structure involved at least. Rather than a simple cheaper version, the idea has given examples of games to use in this poor mans casino. |
