Passing The Baton - Detroit's Comp Started by: Detroit on Apr 12, '13 18:06

This is the official Detroit Passing The Baton thread.  Please do not post in this thread unless you have already coordinated with your city that you are entering the contest, and coordinated with the other posters that it is your turn.

The official rules are here: http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/338935

Quick summary:

A group of people from the city will be contributing a chapter or more, to a day long ongoing story that is written by members of their home city that must contain certain words pulled from a shared pool from every city.  Their first writer is given two words on their post screen, a word that must be used in the opening line, as well as a word that must be used in the closing line.  When that entry is posted, the next writer will start off their chapter using the closing word the previous writer used, as well as their new ending word.  This is repeated over for each author until the final author.  The final author will use the closing word from the previous entry, and their closing word is now the opening word from the pool that the first author opened with.

You can change the word slightly to fit with tense, possession, pluralization and other modifiers to the word.  The words given just have to be used in the opening line and closing line - it does not have to be the very first word or very last word.

This competition is a 24 hour event that takes place on April 13th.  Any activity before or after will be ignored.

Good luck all!

(P.S.  I have selected judges from outside of the game, due to their schedules and the amount to be read, the judging may take quite a few days.)

'Godfather' Mudkip had said without judgement 'Is there any particular reason I should head to the cafe downtown to meet the others? I shall not challenge nor judge decision sir, however I find it odd.' Mudkip knew the man wasn't an extremely patient one and he had departed at once, heading to his own headquarters within Black Bottom, Detroit to fetch up an escort of mobsters to ensure his safety during this shady meeting of mobsters in a cafe he had never heard of.

Shortly after arriving in his headquarters within Black Bottom, he requests that three mobsters accompany him, SadPanda, one of his most loyal enforcers, Almonette, his third in command and Saint, a quiet man who's accuracy with a gun puts the best to shame. After getting in his car, he asked for Almonette to drive the four of them to some cafe downtown to meet with the others the godfather had mentioned earlier, about half way to this mysterious cafe Saint had asked, "Why are we sending you boss, over someone else? This seems like quite the trap." Mudkip had nodded to Saint in agreement, this *DID* seem like a trap but, Mudkip trusted his godfather who had awarded him a HQ some time earlier in his life. He hadn't done anything wrong so why would it be a trap? He had felt uneasy about this but proceeded to it anyways. When they had arrived in downtown Detroit, they parked near an alley within a block of the cafe, should anything go wrong.

After stepping inside the Cafe he saw several other people within his circle sitting about and talking, drinking coffee and bragging about recent jobs. This made Mudkip more relaxed then before but he was still cautious.  He sat down nearby while each member of his protection detail had taken positions within the room that had showed everyone and it made everyone relax a little.

"Silk" Mudkip had said to the young woman sitting at a table across from him who was a high ranking member within the Grimes crime family, located in a nearby district that was allied to his Godfather. "What am I doing here Silk? What kind of a meeting is this? We're all just sitting here and not discussing shit.. Is this some kind of ploy?" Mudkip had been upset that he had actually showed up to a 'meeting' with no one talking or actually well meeting.

Silk had spoke finally after seeing Mudkip get a little angry at the casual 'meeting,' "Mudkip my friend, no need to be angry we'll be meeting officially in a couple minutes. It was a long ride for many to get here and they'd like to enjoy a nice cup of coffee or have a nice meal.  How about yourself, do you want anything before we start?" Silk had asked.

"No, I'm okay miss, thank you though." A couple minutes of waiting and all the civilians within the cafe had cleared out, several guards had sat outside to make sure no one could be eavesdropping within the meeting and the owner and staff of the cafe had gone on break... for a couple hours.

Silk had spoke first to the group of perhaps 25 to 30 mobsters  within a small cafe "So, the plan that our two godfathers agreed on is this." Silk pulls out a map of the only federal prison within Michigan and every possible escape route and daily routines of guards. "Our godfathers want Carl Grimes, the don of Corktown 'released' from prison for murdering the Godfather in Corktown, a godfather they knew they could not trust.

'Everyone,  I'd like your attention' Mudkip noticed everyone in the cafe had gone silent and were listening with intent ears 'Tonight.. We break out Don Carl Grimes, the man that would surely assume the position of Godfather within Corktown, Detroit, I need everyone to do something right now, Panda you get the cargo from our headquarters, its filled with explosives, Almonette, gather some knives and semi automatics from within our HQ's armory, Saint.. You're with me on this one, just keep aware, this'll be some night. Let's go get the cargo now!'

Sitting on a cargo box, Mitzi_May's Ears perk up at the mention of a Jail Break and explosives. She knew she was a new face here in Detroit but this would be her first time ever using explosives. Mitzi_May knew she needed to prove herself. She raised her head to pay attention to the speaker and made sure she knew what she was doing. When Mudkip got to her and told her

"We need you to take a lookout doll think you might be able to handle that?"

Mitzi_May was a little offended by such a demeaning roll but knew being the new kid no one would give her the best job available. She also knew that having this 'Affliction' did give her some pretty good eyesight and honestly being the lookout was really the only reason they asked an associate to this endeavor in the first place. She nodded to Mudkip and let him move on to the next person with their job. When Mudkip was finished handing out assignments Silk got up to talk.

"We have acquired a few vehicles for this trip and the getaway drivers will all be ready to get us all out in time so none of us get caught. Everyone that is helping with the actual jail breaking will meet a few blocks south of the Jail and be ready for anything."

Silk pauses and takes a bite of food as the waitresses and waiters bring everyone present some food. Once everyone has their food and drink Silk continues

"Now I know they will have quite a few guards on Carl and there could be gun shots if we are caught. We need to get in as quietly as we can and without conflict."

Silk continues laying out her plan and when she is finished she finishes with

"Now remember when its all done we meet here for some pie if everything go according to plan"

After Silk finishes Mitzi_May got up and grabbed her hat. She had to go to the ladies room as being a lookout needed a bit of work so she would blend in. She goes into the bathroom and sees that her ears are safely tucked under her hat and that she looked good. She freshened her rouge and lit up a cigarette. She knew that even though she was only a lookout the better she did the more opportunities that would open up for her. She really was getting into this crime family scene and couldn't wait for the jail break to begin. After finishing her cigarette and throwing the butt in the toilet She flushes the toilet and walks out of the bathroom. Seeing Silk was heading out of the restaurant, Mitzi_May decides to follow her and gets in the car Silk gets into. Mitzi_May was a little worried and nervous this being her first crime, but she knew it would be a great chance to prove herself. She really could use the brownie points. Her only real worry was that it was well known the guards of this jail were all about the philosophy of 'shoot first then maybe ask questions later, if they survive'. The only thing going for them was the fact these guards were no detectives.

Intrigue was at Carl’s headquarters thinking about that dirty detective and how he has managed to trip her Godfather up. She decided to put that annoyance to some good use in the yard practicing her wack skill on the training range. She was doing exceptionally well but then again she was angry, extremely angry since her Godfather is cooped up in the slammer. It fuels her motivation with shots when she is heated.  She was waiting for a call about a plan, the plan to get Carl out of that awful place, the one house he needs out off as soon as possible!

Finally after a bit of a wait and a good few hundred bullets later the call came from Silk explaining about the explosives ideas and that there was some new girl with her. Silk assured it's all fine and that this girl was ever so good and seem to be very keen to find her way within our organization. "We'll be with you within the hour Intrigue so please be ready." Silk said as she hung up.

Intrigue casually put the weapons she trained with away and made her way  to her room to get a change of clothes to a more suitable attire to go do the job in. She decided on just a simple classic suit, one she could move fast as needed in. She loaded up her weapons and placed them hidden in their holsters under her jacket and another one hidden for luck in a her trousers. She decided to get her hair out of her face too by tying it up. Ladies like Silk and Intrigue know when it comes to jobs like these this isn't the time to let their hair down and do themselves up to the nines. They were seen to be like men when they worked.

It's strange, Intrigue thought as she kept an eye out for the ladies, that no matter how many dodgy jobs she has been on there's never a time the nerves don't come out a little or at least a good enough reason to down a scotch, and another and another one. I better stop drinking these, Intrigue thought, or this won’t go too well when I’m tripping over bushes and down steps.

Headlights, Intrigue noticed the headlights coming up the long dark drive with trees either side. Waiting a second more ensuring it was them Intrigue then ran down the stairs to leave the building to join them allowing the door behind her to slam. She shouted to the housemaid "Don’t forget to feed the cats, I’m of to the bingo with the girls!" She got into the car and greeted the ladies offering them a smoke each. "Bingo my ass!" joked Silk but as Silk knows herself Intrigue couldn't exactly say the truth. Less who knew the better as with all jobs.

Intrigue took a good look at Silk and pointed out that even when they're dressed for a job she was looking absolutely hot! The ladies of Detroit often had a bit of a banter like this often joking it was just a bit of ‘sister love’. Maybe it was also more of a protective measure to behave in these ways. It also erased any complications that could arise.

They each gave each other a nod and told the driver to drive on. They then went out of the long driveway and when they just could not help it anymore one of the ladies shouted, "Let's do this! Let’s get Carl out of that barred filled house!" “It just stinks!” Shouted Silk. The ladies agreed, the slammer has an odor to it that is not for the faint hearted.

Almonette agreed things did sound a bit shady, but she didn't think this had the same rotten odor that traps usually have, so she didn't pay much attention to the rest of the conversation between Saint and Mudkip.  Sometimes Almonette just felt like a glorified bodyguard, but she does whatever is necessary for her family.  She would swear that Mudkip just takes her places because people are scared of the knife she keeps strapped to thigh all the times.

The mobster just sat and listened as everyone was just casually talking, looking and remembering the faces of the people here.  When the place finally cleared out, she sighed and thought to herself, "Finally this can get started."  Then Silk started talking about the jail break and what was needed in terms of supplies and when she mentioned explosives, everyone turned and looked at Almonette.  "What?!" She said, "I slice people up, not blow them up!"

Not too long after, a small meager voice came out and said, "Where can I put the vegetables."  It didn't take 10 seconds before every mobster in the room had their gun drawn on the poor delivery guy.  Almonette calmly stepped out and said, "Put the guns away, they'll draw too much attention.  I got this."

The mobster walked with the guy through the kitchen.  "You can put them over there" Almonette pointed to an empty counter in the kitchen and as the delivery guy went to his truck Almonette slipped on a chef's coat, giving a wink to Mudkip as he stared at her through the open door.  The mobster removed the knife from its sheath as she walked up behind the man reaching into the back of his truck, and she grabbed him from behind; covering his mouth she plunged the blade of her knife upwards into his back.  The woman grinned as the man coughed and started choking on his own blood, "Looks like I hit red gold, right in the heart" she said half laughing to herself.  She dumped the man's body in the dumpster by the truck, then took off the chef's coat and wiped her blade down then tossed the coat in the bin as well.

After washing her hands, she grabbed two of her bodyguards and placed them by the backdoor.  "Watch this door as well, I shouldn't have to tell you that!" Almonette said frustrated and smacked the guards in the back of the head as she walked back out.

She sat down, and the meeting kept going with out her. "See, much more peaceful my way, they didn't even remember I was gone." Almonette thought to herself.  Soon Mudkip was passing out assignments to the people in the room, and as Silk was walking out the door Almonette's eyes followed until Mudkip smacked her in the back of the head. "You're with me, I need you to drive..." her crew leader said, then added "and, take care of any surprise business, quietly."

"Yes boss," Almonette said with a sigh. "Where to?"

"I will let you know in a minute." Mudkip said, "I need to make a call to my guy in the FBN, it's time he pays us back for the murder of that crooked agent."

Francis was in a bad mood, he was supposed to be enjoying his day off from murder. He had been with his family, his wife Mary had made more tea than an army needed.  He had sat drinking whilst telling stories to Michael and little Tony. His day was spoiled when the phone rang and he was told to go downtown to a cafe he knew by sight but had never visited. By the time he had kissed his wife goodbye and ruffled little Tony’s hair there was a car waiting outside.

Now he was sitting in the meeting wondering where his expertise would come in. Francis had contacts in every walk of life and they helped in all sorts of situations. He normally would be at every bank job, but there were definitely too many people around for that.

Once he heard the speech and the plan he looked to Christoff Daluca for where he would go next. ‘Let’s go Francis’ he said. ‘What we going to go for this time?’ Francis replied. ‘I’d say we go for lost burlesque bus, it’s time to pay Maria a visit.’

The two drove over to the national theatre and wandered round the back. They knocked on the door. A tall striking woman answered, she had a certain allure about her that made every man weak. ‘Why hello boys, you looking for a free show as usual.’ She said with a cheeky wink. ‘Not tonight Maria I’m afraid we are here for business, we need you and some of the other girls to come and entertain some friends of ours......’

As Christoff and Francis pulled up outside the Chance in Counter cafe which was about a block away from the jail gates they spotted their targets. ‘How many overall you think?’ said Francis. ‘There must be twenty maybe thirty.’ Christoff smirked.  ‘All getting fuelled up for the night shift, shame they’ll never make it. ‘Let’s see Maria do her magic.’

A bus suddenly pulled up around the corner and Maria stepped out in all her glory. The master of burlesque winked to the guards that were sitting, mindlessly sipping their coffees before their shifts started. ‘Gentlemen, we need help, we are on our way to the national theatre and appear to have gotten lost. We need some guidance from some responsible handsome fellas to help us get there.’ She pointed to the windows of the bus and every window was filled with the outline of a tantalising figure. ‘We also seem to have an excess of gin, which I know is hard to come by in these times. I hope you gentlemen don’t turn us in and take us to jail.’ She smiled and Francis knew that she had them.

One of the guards ran, almost flew to board the bus, Maria waved him on, the man bounded up the steps completely forgetting about his job. More followed getting encouragement from the others jumping their way on board. Five remained sitting defiantly. ‘Well’ Christoff piped up. ‘There must be men everywhere whose passions are not booze and women.’

As the bus pulled away Francis thought to himself, well, that should make things easier for the others. The night shift will be a few hands down tonight. Maria had done her job, the guards would not be back tonight. Francis trusted her implicitly he knew she would not dare backstab him.

It really makes me feel like I was backstabbed in the end, ya know. These guys were the men and women I had worked with since the beginning. Yet they couldn't keep one of there most faithful Dons out of this shit hole.

Carl laughed as he looked at the two foolish guards listening to every word he had to say as if they were school kids. Even though this was the time he should of embraced being in solitary confinement most of the day he was still bored. Awaiting another trip to see the judge for the sentencing on the murder of the choco leader aka Corktowns former Godfather.

Ya know boys, if you were really looking for some excitement you might get ole Carl outside of this place. Living the life of two nobody prison guards must make you both feel as locked up as I am here now. Walking this path everyday just on the opposite side of the fence that is all. You guys might get to leave, but you will always be a part of this prison. You have no idea what it is like to live such a lavish lifestyle, sure I've gotten my hands dirty, but that's the risk I took in becoming a made man.

Heating up from getting caught up in the moment Carl had a sudden outburst with the two guards. Eventhough he was cuffed together he managed to flip the tables upside down by using his hands in a praying position. The guards quickly lifted Carl from his seat and escorted him back to his secluded cell. Locking the door behind him Carl knew he was back to being alone where he was more content. Turning around quickly before the guards were to far off in the distance Carl gave the door a hard kick to spook them if possible.

Walking over to the bed Carl sat down looking up to the small window in the corner of the cell. Grey, always grey. That was one thing you could count on living a life of crime in Detroit. The weather didn't change often and it was very noticeable one left alone. Carl then lay back on the cot that he may be spending the rest of his life sleeping on.

Thinking back to just a few days ago when they had there epic battle against the Godfather of Corktown. Fighting it out at the secret compound was such an exhilarating battle leaving us as the victors. Somehow word went public that Carl was behind the attack and took sole responsibility when JohnnyLaw came knocking on the headquarter doors. He trusted Zero and Intrigue that they would continue to fight for Corktown in the name of Carl there locked up leader.

Knowing that his life as an organized crime leader could possible be a thing of the past Carl considered all options. One thing was sure though and that was the fact that Carl would do whatever it took to get back on the outside if at all possible. He was meant to meet again with the judge in the next 48 hours, after that he could plan accordingly.

Report Post Tip

First word: 48 Hours. Last word: Boat. If this is the last post then the last word is: Judge.

In the past 48 hours Silk was involved in a little bit of everything - murder, racketeering and running her brothel in Corktown, Detroit. Planning to bust Carl Grimes out of jail was just another day in the life for the mobster.

After picking up Intrigue the women chatted with each other in the car to pass the time. Silk was glad Intrigue was eager to do their part to get the new Godfather out of jail. Intrigue never hesitated when asked to help The Corktown Crime Syndicate and the city of Detroit. Silk enjoyed working with her because she was one of those rare gems who was tough, smart and professional.

In the backseat of the car Mitzi May appeared to be just as eager as the two older women. Silk noticed the young lady also looked a little nervous. All the young ones wanted to prove their worth in the tough business of organized crime. It was natural to be nervous when one wrong move could lead to being fitted for cement shoes.

"Mitzi, being our look out in front of the jail is an important part of the job." Silk said and glanced back at the young lady in the back of the car. "I'm confident you'll do a good job." Silk hoped her little pep talk was enough. She didn't want to go on and on like a psycho mother on the sideline of a kid's soccer game.

When they got a block away from the jail Silk stopped the car and Mitzi May got out. "Now to go visit our dear friend, the mayor." Silk told Intrigue and put the pedal to the metal.

Dealing with two faced politicians was Silk's least favorite part about being in the mafia. Politicians were natural born liars. They could only be trusted to do business with if they were blackmailed or there was something in it for them. Dangle a valuable carrot in front of their greedy faces and they would sell their own children.

When Silk was a young mobster working to prove herself in Detroit she became acquainted with Mayor Gordon while looking for a rogue trigger man who murdered his daughter. At the time she thought finding the shooter for the mayor would make him owe a favor to the men she worked for. She didn't know it would lead to discovering the mayor pimped out his twenty year old daughter to friends and colleges to further his career. His heartless actions lead to the death of his daughter. Silk thought the politician should've been killed, but with what she knew about him the mayor was a valuable asset to the organized crime families of Detroit.

In front of Mayor Gordon's mansion a security guard approached Silk's car and asked, "Do you have an appointment?"

"No, it's an emergency." Silk answered and gave him their aliases and the name of the "company" they worked for.

"Sorry ladies, the mayor is too busy to see you today." The security guard replied. Within seconds Intrigue got out of the car and pointed her gun at him. She threatened him with a few words Silk didn't hear and he quickly opened the gate. A few minutes later they were in front of the mayor's mansion. "I hate this place." Silk quietly said to Intrigue as they walked to the door. "It makes me sick this bastard is living like a king after what he did to his daughter."

The door opened and surprisingly the mayor was standing there instead of the maid who usually greeted visitors. "Ladies, nice to see you." The politician cheerfully said and stepped outside. He closed the door behind him and explained, "I have guests here who are contributing to my campaign to run for senate. If I introduce you to them they'll ask a lot of questions about what type of work you do." With the usual nervous look in his eyes he had when in the presence of mobsters he asked, "How are you, ladies?"

"Peachy keen." Silk answered. "We won't take up much of your time, Sir." Respect was the name of the game. Even standing in front of a man they wanted to shoot in the face the mobsters were respectful.

"A favor." Silk started like she always did with the political tool. "A friend of ours, Carl Grimes is getting out of jail today. We want his record clean and the police investigation stopped."

"That's a lot to ask for!" The mayor protested. "It's not possible."

"Anything is possible." Silk replied and looked at Intrigue. "Maybe we should go inside and tell the big money people what we know about this senate candidate."

"I have a better idea." Intrigue said and took out her gun.

"Wait." Silk quickly said before her friend could fire. One of them needed to stay calm. Silk was surprised it was her for a change. "Mr. Mayor, even though your daughter was an adult when you whored her out my friend and I still think you're a sick fuck. It would make our day to put an end to your life. You will do what I asked or you won't live to be Senator Gordon."

The mayor nodded with his eyes fearfully locked on Intrigue's gun. Silk smiled. She loved intimidation and fear. It was a better combination than chocolate and peanut butter.

Back in the car Silk put her sunglasses on and looked at her watch. "Almost time for the fireworks show at the jail." Looking over at Intrigue she added, "If the mayor doesn't get the police to lay off Carl let's take him out on the boat and feed him to the fishes."

Fresh off the boat in Detroit x was already in jail. Bribing the detective was supposed to keep enough evidence suppressed that she never ended up in this place, but x’s bonds to corrupt law enforcement had been rather tenuous lately. She sighed as she paced her cell, running her fingers along the walls as she passed. On what felt like her millionth time around, x started as the wall moved a bit with her touch. She stopped and pushed at the spot and a bit of stone crumbled away creating a quarter sized hole. She peered through the hole and realized she was looking into another cell, at CarlGrimes sitting on a cot gazing upward.

“Hello there. Would you happen to have a match?” x asked in Carl’s direction.

Carl looked around a moment trying to figure out where the voice was coming from when he saw the hole. “I do.” He pulled a pack out of his back pocket, walked over, and slid them through the hole.

x struck a match and lit her cigarette. “Thanks doll. I’ve been waiting on that one for hours.” She exhaled and slid the matches back through the hole. “So. What are you in for?” she asked.

Carl smiled, bemused at the cliché, and returned the matches to his pocket. “You may have noticed this city has a problem. A chocobo problem. They’ve had the run of the roost and abused it. Sullied the name of Detroit with their shenanigans in Corktown. “

x reflexively looked for a place to hide, before remembering she was in jail, and thus already basically hidden. “I have. They’re terrifying frankly.”

“Well I don’t know about terrifying,” Carl continued, “but they’re definitely a problem. It was time to remove the tarnish of their feathery influence. The word came from the godfathers that someone needed to step up, take the reins and ride this menace out of town, and this cowboy knows a thing or two about lassoing.”

x listened enthralled, “Did you?” she asked.

“I did.” He said. “I made my way to the Godfather’s nest and called him off his perch. Told him it was time to settle this matter, he came out, a scuffle ensued” Carl walked over to the hole and whispered “and I took care of business.”

x realized that meant she was now imprisoned next to the new Godfather of Corktown. How did he end up here? She wondered. “You were caught?”

“I’m being held here in between examinations.” He replied. “I expect this is a temporary situation though. My right hand has some gusto, I’m sure she’ll rustle up something.”

“Hopefully sooner than later, you’d think the authorities would be thanking you for cutting off the chocobo influence! They’re a menace. So big. Birds shouldn’t BE that big.”

“I wouldn’t really say that was the problem…” Carl wondered exactly what kind of nut he was talking to.

“Sure, sure. I know, they were causing problems all over town and completely untrustworthy, but don’t you think they’re inherently messed up? I mean, birds bigger than people, just running all over the place being all huge with their big beaks…”

Carl had heard enough. He grabbed some toilet paper and stuffed the hole shut muffling the sound somewhat, trying to ignore what he could hear he sat back down on his cot.

“DON'T IGNORE THIS mwrp muh muh...HUGE TALONS… mrrr mwa meh fast… mwrp mweh meh BEADY EYES… mwep meh moop WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES BUDDY…”

Likes roses in a garden, money it turned out was just like sex, you thought of nothing else when you didn't have it and other things when you did. JamesMcElroy was in deep to his bookie and as his cold eyes scanned the room, they only took on some warmth when they landed on his boss, Mudkip the primary reason he hadn't been worked on by the shylocks goons. He hoped he'd encounter a way of paying it off soon, but his mind drifted away from it he had to keep his concentration.

He was sliding into the car now. The whole situation was giving him a headache. Why did it have to be Mudkip? His frustration finally getting the best of him he finally spoke up. "Why are they sending you boss? Over someone else, this seems like quite a trap." Possibly a bit outspoken but Mudkip had oversaw JamesMcElroy's rise and he understood that it was always in his boss and friends best interests whenever he aired his thoughts.

The car gently pulled up, the ride had been something of a blur after he'd spoken but the cold Detroit air afforded no time for day dreaming, as they quickly marched towards the meet, his gun weighed heavily against his chest today, it didn't bode well, just what were the chances of surviving this he considered.

'You have to be realistic' his father had always told him.

The Cafe couldn't have been more different from outside. A wave of heat struck him as soon as he entered. Silently he took up position though even the comforting warmth wouldn't dull his professionalism. It had been a lot more pleasant than he'd envisioned. His boss had exploded but just as quickly it had blown away.

So it was to be a break out. It had its risks of course but it was feasible. The plans set out made it all look easy. Something else had to be in the works. Grimes could run things from prison. A lot of heat would come down on Detroit after this job. Grimes had to be instrumental in something else for such a risk to be taken. They were startled by a delivery man but Almonette saw to him quickly. The girl was like a surgeon with that knife, deadly and beautiful. They never saw it coming.

JamesMcElroy couldn't think which role Mudkip had lined up for him. He'd been inside the penitentiary though so he was sure it would be a front line role. The place could be an absolute maze at times and even with a map it would be worthwhile having some eyes who'd been on the other side.

Almonette was back now. She'd be driving a role James felt she never enjoyed, but like them all she was bound to do her duty. The only downside was Grimes didn't know him and he probably wouldn't take too kindly to trusting an unknown. JamesMcElroy barely knew anyone in the organization. He wondered if it was maybe his quiet nature or was it down to status. In the end maybe that was it. Whatever it was that made him the most unnoticed guy in the room JamesMcElroy wasn't ashamed of who he was.

Womble wasn’t ashamed to be sitting in the bar that night. He was keeping an eye on a drug pusher, one who was trying to elbow his way into a more lucrative area of the city without prior permission from any of the families of Detroit. Whilst watching, Womble receives a nod from the barkeep; there is a call from Don Mudkip.

The call was quick and without any banter, one of Mudkip's own had been gunned down just hours before he was due to play an important role in the jailbreak of Carl Grimes. Womble's task was to fill his spot, directing traffic to ensure the escape from the prison was as smooth as possible.

Womble had been on the periphery of the planning, not able to guarantee his attendance due to various matters already in hand, however he had insisted that if required, he would be there. With Mudkip a man down, he had turned to Womble, knowing his trust in the quiet man was not misplaced. Womble would get the job done quietly and with precision.

Womble was, after all, a quiet man, but one who had progressed through the ranks by being in the right place at the right time. Always with a piece of wisdom, Womble had been the one to suggest the use of some of the Corrupt Agents of the FBN to manage the junctions around the prison. Now he was to manage the process.

Walking to the nearest payphone, Womble pulled out a plain leather-bound book maybe 4 inches tall and opened it to a page near to the back. On it, 12 phone numbers, yet if anybody happened across the book, the numbers would reach only people who had no knowledge of anything. Womble was good with numbers and cyphers, and had memorised the cypher for this list of 12 numbers. 12 well paid FBN agents who knew well enough that keeping their mouths closed and looking the other way was the only way to retain their lives. One by one, Womble called the numbers, informing the men who answered only of a junction and a direction. They knew only to be at the designated junction within the hour, and that no traffic was to be allowed to travel in the direction stated. The reason was not to open a corridor for the getaway, but instead to block the route from the police stations to the prison. Snarling up all routes with excess traffic which wasn’t able to escape the coordinated box Womble had designed would hinder the attempts of the authorities to prevent the escape.

His calls made, Womble dials a final number, this, he knows by heart. The number connects to Don Mudkip’s office. Mudkip is not there of course, but the man who answers the phone is the only one who can contact him directly. Womble needs only say a few words… “Tell him everything is ready. Route D.” Hanging up, Womble looks around, “any will do”, he thinks to himself, “the bigger the tank the better”. He has one final job to complete before everything kicks off.

Selecting a vehicle he slowly walks towards it, jimmying the door and climbing inside, he sets off quickly. It’s time to enact his final part in the greater plan, creating a valuable distraction. Being careful not to hit anybody, but knowing his actions will be more than enough to have multiple calls come in to the local police, Womble hurtles down the sidewalk before driving straight into a medium sized salon. The salon hadn’t paid their protection money this month, and Womble had his eyes on the prime location for a business venture he had planned. Climbing out of the vehicle, Womble quickly opens the petrol tank and bundles in a length of cloth. Taking a match, he strikes it and lights the end of the cloth. Moving swiftly away before the petrol can explode Womble can already hear the sound of sirens approaching. Yet it’s too late, the tank explodes and Womble has completed all of his tasks for the day.

Heading back to the bar, Womble takes back up his position watching the drug pusher. Signalling to the barkeep he requests another drink, feeling it only fair he reward himself for another job well done.

Life wasn't fair some days. It was 4 in the morning when Panda had gotten the call to meet at some diner later on. Barely conscious from the night, well just a couple hours ago really, before, a night of celebrating someone, he forgets who's, birthday. He hung up the phone and sat up rubbing his eyes to look at wrinkled sheets next to where he was lying, evidence of having had company. He breaths out heavily and grabs his knees to hoist himself out of bed, and walks to the kitchen to make some much needed coffee.

"Why so fucking early", he groans to himself.

A few hours later, after having left the meeting at the quaint cafe with his boss, Mudkip, Panda sits in the car a little wrapped up in his own thoughts. Quite simply, he didn't like prisons. No one likes prison, of course, but especially not him. after a 2 year stint he had already done a few years back, he had made a solemn vow to never go back to one, as a matter of fact, but here he was. Almonette's driving wasn't helping much either. This girl is a little tight-strung, he thinks chuckling to himself. At least it helps lighten the mood.

The mood had been heavy at the meeting. Not much was required of Panda, other than to sit by Mudkip listening and watching. You have to be careful of these things. Not everyone is always who they claim to be or have the motives they claim to have. Panda is good at reading people, so that's what he does: expressions, body language, and what they say that they didn't really "say". Saint seemed to be worried this particular meeting was unusual and could be a trap, so Panda had to be especially on guard and on the look-out for any evidence supporting this. There didn't seem to be any. Everyone seemed to be on the up-an-up.

Its for a good purpose, anyway, he thinks. Not that he had ever had much dealings with the GodFather, but Panda would lay his life down for Mudkip, this was sure, as well as most anyone else in the family.

Panda's job was simple. Mudkip had passes out everyone's assignments and positions and Panda was to make sure they were all doing what they were supposed to be doing and ultimately drive the getaway vehicle to house Grimes. Panda was uses to getting people to do what he wanted them to, by whichever force may be necessary. This would be different, though, as no one has to be forced, so no worries there.

As they drove, they get a good comic relief to pass by a couple very familiar beautiful women, stopped at the side of the road by a cop. It looked like he's actually helping them with a tire or something, so there's no need for alarm. Almonette doesn't even slow in the slightest, whatever the case may be. They are on a time schedule here.

As planned, they all pull into a parking lot of an abandoned warehouse where there are also a few other vehicles and a larger van. The van is what Panda gets to monitor the jail breakers in. He'd let them out, they would get the job done, scatter in to the other cars poised and ready to go, he would get Godfather Grimes and they would go. Sounds easy, no? Yeah, he thinks to himself, start thinking anything is easy and that's when you'll lose the game.

They get the go-ahead from Mitzy, the look-out girl, that the guards are down at the spot planned and it's time to move in and get the job done. Panda gets in the driver's seat and spits out his cigarette to the ground, counting the heads in back making sure everyone who needs to be is armed and ready.

He gets the nod from Mudkip and takes off to the prison with no hassle at all as Francis and his boys did a great job otherwise occupying their assigned guards.

Looks like everything is clear and they stop at their assigned spot.

"Everybody GO!" the back door of the van opens and Panda hustles out the team of mobsters. Just like when he lead bullies to rumble in the schoolyard during his childhood SadPanda is ready for action.

First word: Childhood. Last word: Savoir faire. If this is the last post then the last word is: Judge.

‘Ive known him my whole childhood’, Zero thought to himself. He could hear the van coming his way in the distance as he kept his eyes on the jailhouse. It was as if he had been keeping a better eye on the prison all day better then they were doing with the prisoners. The van pulled up to his hiding place in the woods just within earshot of the prison. Hopping out of the van were James McElroy, Mudkip, Almonette, and SadPanda. They then went to the back of the van, popping the doors, and showing the crazy amount of explosives they were carrying with them. Zero let out a moan when he realized they were going to have to hide and place this explosives in a smart manner. The group was gathering the supplies as Zero kept watch on the prison to make sure they weren’t attracting any unwanted heat. He spoke in a low tone so that only the group could hear, “We have to do this as quick and clean as we can. That is one of our own in there right now and we would want the same if we were in his shoes”.

Their jobs were laid out for them and they waited until it was time for the night shift to begin. There was a small siren that let the officers know to switch shifts, but it took them some time to notice that the night shift guards weren’t going to show up. Half of the team bid their farewells to the others staying behind to watch the prison. Once they left the premises, the team sprang into action. They all knew their plan it was just down to a matter of executing it without any flaws. James and SadPanda began to plan the explosives in the right parts on the outside of the prison as Zero, Mudkip, and Almonette walked into the prison as if they were about to relieve the guards of their duty.

They were there to relieve the guards in their own way. Seeing that they were understaffed for the night shift, made them very weak in numbers. They all knew this down to a do or die situation. The woman opened the front door like she was ordered and the three of them rushed into the heart of the prison, locked and loaded. Almonette was the first to start firing shots as she hit the armed guards square in the chest as they came across the doorway. Zero and Mudkip watched her back as she knelt to one knee to check and make sure they were dead. She gave them a nod in confirmation and they grabbed the cell keys from the guards belt loop. They knew there were still guards  that more then likely heard the gun shots so they stayed on alarm, roaming deeper into the prison. Mudkip whispered under his breath, “They have to be almost finished outside. Lets get Carl and get the hell out of here”. The others nodded in agreement as they passed the cells of the screaming prisoners begging to be released.

Zero ignored them the best he could as he was there for only one man. All of these others could suffer for all he cared. Getting his family was the only thing that mattered to Zero. In the confinement area they finally heard Carl let out a little yell as they passed his cell. They doubled back and frantically started to try different keys in the slot. Almonette was trying one and switching to another as fast as she could when the doors at opposite ends flew open. Zero and Mudkip were ready however as you heard shots start to ring loudly through the tightly fit corridor. Carl took cover and looked up, expecting the worse. Smoke was clearing from the shots as the two guards on both ends were laying in a pool of their own blood. Zero turned around to make sure everyone was okay, but grew shock from what the result of the gunfire was. Mudkip had taken a bullet in the shoulder and it wasn’t looking good. Zero ripped the thin coat from off his back and started to put pressure on the gun wound. Overwhelmed with fear and excitement, Zero began to yell at the crew to wrap up the mission. Almonette finally found the right key as the cell doors slammed open against the wall. Carl threw one of Mudkips arms over his shoulder and led the wounded down the hallway.

“I have just one last thing to do. Get Mudkip and Carl out of here, Almonette. It will be safer for them out of the this deathtrap. Make sure that they don’t blow this place up with me still in it”. Zero left the rest of the group and began to sprint through the hallway to the middle of the prison. He took one last look behind him, watching the crew carry Mudkip as the blood was dripping to the floor. The guards were ready for Zero when he reached the center. They began firing shots from their rifles from a booth in the middle that watched over the rest of the cells. This was for the worse offenders they could possibily deal with. Zero used the door to block the shots as he pulled a revolver from his holster. Firing shots back through the small window in the door, he sees one of the guards hands fly into the air before hitting the ground. Another round of shots hit the steel door as Zero started to rush to put more bullets in his revolver. Through all the panic you could hear the soft pinging of the shells hitting the floor as Zero was rushing himself. Another load of bullets flew at the door, one coming through the window and skimming Zero by the ear. He reloaded the bullets in his revolver finally and stuck his arm through the broken window. Firing one shot, he seen it whiz across the open cell block and hit the man directly. The rifle bullets instantly died away as Zero walked into the room with only a bullet grazing his ear. He did a small prayer and began to piece together the final part of the explosives. The prisoners around the cell block were going crazy by yelling and kicking the cell. Zero stood in the middle of all them as the bomb was finally in place and thought about the others in the block. He could see the anger in their faces as he walked to the open where they could all see him. Flipping them off, they started to throw things through the cell at him as he left from the room with that statement.

He could see the others just on the perimeter of the woods as he was exiting from the prison building. He started walking that turned into a run when he could hear the group yelling at him in a panic. Zero could see the figure of a shadow in the dark outline of the woods and it looked as if he had dropped the switch to detonate the explosives. The screams became louder as Zero was sprinting for his life, feeling the flames of the bombs behind him getting hotter. The explosion lifted him off his feet and threw him forward. He hit the ground, flipping as the explosion hit him with so much force that he was around 30 yards to the van and his crew. After the impact, Zero couldn’t hear anything but loud ringing piercing his ears. He tried crawling to them as he seen them jumping around and their mouthes moving wildly. Unable to get to his feet, he couldn’t make out the form of the individual trying to help him up. They made it a few yards before Zero fell back to his knees. Seeing the van scatter from the scene, Zero could only lay on the ground in pain and watch his world crash around him. He managed to turn himself around to see why the group had fled the scene. He was surrounded by cops and the burning prison in the background. He laid eagle spread on the ground as the cops started to approach him with guns drawn and handcuffs. Maybe it was a good thing that at the time being he couldn’t hear anything but the ringing in his ears. Soon the group would be doing this again after Zero spent his time in front of the judge.
