MR players in recovery | Started by: Cassadaga on Apr 29, '13 12:57 |
Kind of a personal question but I am a recovery addict and was curious if there is anyone else on here who has the same sort of problems. I guess publicly on here may be too exposing for you but if you want to send me a mail we can talk.
This game kind of helps me throughout the day not to focus on negativity and to keep myself grounded in something. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm making a fearless and searching moral inventory of myself. |

(I'm an addict, but it's been a very long time since my addiction du jour was to something people considered a problem. Currently transitioning from iced tea to coffee.) |

I'd just like to say this was a very brave move by you. I hope you find others in your situation that are willing to talk about it. |

Thank you TyrionLannister. It's something I am very much at peace with. I have a spiritual program in my life that sees me through. I was just curious to see if there are any other's who suffer from the disease of addiction that also use MR as a release from everyday life. I currently have 2 years completely abstinent from all drugs (including alcohol). ~Cassadaga <3 |

I help out at a transitional housing complex in my city and do volunteer work for a lady who runs NA meetings and helps women transition back into the workforce. She also started up a recycling program to employ them and give back to the community. There is everything from battered women to recovering women at the complex. I speak with them often and do various other things there. Feel free to drop me a line any time. |

Although not recovering, i did used old org as a way to centre myself when recovering from a motorbike accident. I found having one fixed point where i could chat, chill, rank and do something was far more helpfull then slipping into the depression of watching the four walls. I was cut off from the outside world due to the injury and i guess old org became my substitute for real people. |

I used and abused all drugs but heroin brought me to my knees. It's been 2+ years since I have had a drink or used. I personally attend Narcotics Anonymous and give back this program to struggling women in my area. The gift of recovery is a blessing and it allows me to blow all my money on MR instead of killing myself. </3 |

My only addiction is cigarettes tbh. Drugs and alcohol I only do recreationally whenever I have cash to spare or someone else has some. |

Yes, I forgot to note I just smoke weed, and if you read my profile you will see that weed has never killed anybody either, it grows from our earth and naturall not man made so can you really call it a "drug"? If its grown from the earth not man made a "drug" I think is the asprin they put in the store that people over dose on etc. yes, I do just smoke pot now, and I have my reasons, but its a big differendce to what I use do, pills all day, herion, drinking, etc, now I just smoke to calm my nerves help my appitie and help me sleep and im more happy and postive I ever been in my life, so smoke a joint and open up your third eye |

Marijuana is a mind and mood altering substances that people use against their own will. =)
I respect your views but that's not clean in my eyes and in the eyes of recovery. |

Brave move I would say but don't know whether the conversation is going on the right track. I played online games for a long time and they give me a chance to be lonely and be with unknown people at the same time. Even in real life I enjoy observing the curious behavior patterns of other people while keeping to myself and it continues in the online games I pay. Coming back to the side tracks - I have tried many drugs and started drinking and smoking even before I was 15 years but dont know whether I was addicted to any as I could give up those things for years and some times I started them again. Now for last one year only a glass of wine when I feel like having a drink. Like to smoke some good cigars again when I am 80 or 90 and about to die. |
