JonnyBeRed had been thinking about this subject for the past couple of weeks. He wanted to make sure he was speaking from a position of logic rather than emotion. He has finally decided that now is the time to speak up. He made a large sign and posted it for all to see. It read: I, JonnyBeRed, was the owner of the Northern Lights Casino. No, that's not quite accurate. I was the MANAGER of The Northern Lights Casino. You see, I only owned 60% of the casino. The other 40% was owned by 5 shareholders. They helped me raise $20,000,000 toward the opening costs of the casino. I put up the rest. I was the operator in that I had access to all the numbers, but we were all the "owner." I didn't make decisions without the votes of the shareholders. Of course, with 60% ownership, I had controlling interest, but I wanted to do what was right for my shareholders. Why am I telling you this? Well, I wanted you to know. I could have saved my money and bought a casino myself. I could have gone 50/50 with any number of people. I didn't do that. I wanted to change how people thought about money and the economy of our underground society. I wanted people to see that families could work together for something other than hits and pros. I wanted people to have a new way of looking at a family from an economic point of view. Money can be used for things to help a family other than BGs, fortifications, and credit giveaways. All this was taken from me, however. The IRS came in and shut me down. They said that all casinos would now be "state run" casinos. Too much money was being made, and too many cities were without families who were forward thinking enough to buy a casino to ensure long-term stability for the family. This was done without any warning. The Feds came in and shut me down, throwing a rather insultingly small check at my feet as they barred the doors. True to form, there was no political debate regarding this change. There was no warning or forum for discussion. The Feds came in and made the change. I am asking for a compromise. Let us discuss this in an open forum. Let us come up with a way to do both; keep the IRS/Feds happy, and keep some control with those of us in this line of business.
