Tales of a misguided associate Started by: Hayley on Jan 17, '14 01:55

This is a story of a poor, misguided soul, lets call him Johnny D.  Little Johnny spent most of his time with a joint in his hand, chilling with his family members.  He was friendly and easy going, but had a few downfalls.  He had lots of money, which he liked to spend on himself.  He also spent more time smoking weed than actually working for the family.  He did have potential, which his leader tried to get him to use, but he just didn't feel the need to participate.

Unbeknownst to his family, Johnny was quite active, just not in the way most associates would be.  He had this dream, spent his time planning and building himself up to live this dream.  Now, there is nothing wrong with having a dream, or a goal to work towards.  But the key words there are work towards.  As that special promotion was about to come up, he got excited.  First it was the constant badgering about his Made Man promotion.  He was told about the very simple requirements for getting his promotion, because members have to at least do something to earn a promotion.  Johnny did not agree with having to do any work, or give up any of his money.  He proceeded to complain on multiple occasions how unfair it was that he had to share his money.

At first, his promotion was held, giving him the chance to realize that it would not just be given to him.  Finally, Johnny did what was expected of him, met the requirements, and got his promotion.  This was a big deal, being part of the family now.  To his leader, this was an opportunity for him to really be a part of the family.  She still felt he had potential, and maybe now he would use it.  He was offered some more opportunities to help out, which he agreed to at the time.  But, behind the scenes, he was continuing on with his plans.  He was a Made Man now, it was time to get his own family.  He did enough for the family, or so he thought, why shouldn't he get his own?  Sure, he had no experience, but he could learn quick, right?  His first stop was in the office of the district's Godfather, for a discussion of his plan.  When that got him no where, he moved on to the Godfather's right hand.  They discussed the basics of running a crew, the hand thought he was just curious.  He then explained his plan, that he should set up in the district.  This would somehow benefit the family, he could get a lot of members, make lots of money.  And we all know he loves his money.  Even though his own family was still in the process of building themselves up, and was less than half full, it was still a good idea to him.

The hand mentioned that out of respect, he should at least go to his own leader with this request, instead of going above her.  Young Johnny did go to his leader, asking a few questions about financing a crew, nothing more.  Moving down the line, as he had yet to get an answer he wanted, he went the the right hand of his family.  He again explained his plan, they discussed the possibilities of another family.  It was agree that yes, another family could benefit the district at some point, but it was never mentioned that he would be the one to set up. During the time that he was conversing with the various upper structure members, he was also contacting members of his own family.  He was asking people to join him in his adventures as a leader, trying to find good people to be in his upper structure.  He was sure his leader wouldn't care if he took a few of her members, but he wasn't going to ask her if he could, just in case.

At this point, even though Johnny clearly had intentions to benefit himself rather than his family, there was really no harm done.  Yes, it was frowned upon to think you deserve something without working for it.  And even a little bit bold to go to the Godfather to ask for it. And big deal that he had more bodyguard's than his leader, it was his money, he didn't need to share.  But all of this was nothing to lose your life over.  During his conversation with the right hand, he slipped up a little.  He very clearly stated that he did not care much about his current family, and his goal was only to have one of his own.

Through his words and actions during the days leading up to his death, he proved that he was selfish.  He showed that he did not care about his family, he was only concerned about himself.  Poor Johnny, he truly could have been something great, had he put his efforts into his family and not himself.  But because he was so selfish, had a bit of the "I deserve everything" attitude, and was even a little disrespectful, he lost his life.

The next day

The day after Johnny's death, his former leader picked up the paper, only to see her face on the cover.  Reading over it, she saw that there was a large amount of money being offered for her head.  Now who in the world would do this?  She set the paper down, continued with her day.  While walking down the street, she heard someone ranting about being killed.  He bared a resemblance to the member who just lost his life.  After hearing her name mentioned, she stopped.  What in the world was he going on about?

The guy went on and on about his brother being wrongly killed, and how its not right to just shoot a Made Man.  She shook her head, thinking that mafioso these days just don't understand the meaning of being Made.  Listening a bit longer, she again hears a large amount of money being thrown around, an offering to kill her.  Before she had to start dodging potential bullets, she took cover in the local coffee shops.

She started having a normal conversation with friends, when the crazy guy shows up.  He had to be following her.  He went by the name of Adam, or something like that.  He stood in front of the shop, again causing a scene, offering money for her head.  A few people laughed at him, some just ignored it.  He eventually left, and things calmed down.  Trying to remedy the situation, and help the young man understand his brother's death, she sent a messenger with a letter to him.  She explained the reasons for what happened, tried to give him future advice, and was even pleasant towards him.  He continued his ranting through a return message, giving excuses such as being jealous of his money.  He refused to listen to reason, insisting that his brother's death was all because he just wanted his own family, ignoring the fact that he was selfish and disrespectful.

She eventually gave up trying to fix the situation, as the guy was seriously mentally disturbed, and could not fathom his brother doing anything wrong.  The young brother eventually died, a suicide, not surprising considering his apparent insanity.  She thought the situation would end with his death, but of course, it did not.  He had many family members, one of them even tried to be a part of her family.  That of course would not have been a problem, if he had told the truth.  He was confused as to who he was, telling everyone a different story.  Craziness definitely ran in the family.  After a few rude conversations with her, he was promptly killed, again for disrespect.  Another thing that seemed to run in his family.

To this day, his family members continue to place hits on her, but doing so anonymously.  Instead of living out their brother's dream and becoming something great, they use their time to pester the community with this nonsense.  She barely glanced at the threats anymore, knowing that they are unwarranted.  Its not the first time someone throws a fit about being killed.  She has learned a good lesson through this whole situation though.  Well maybe two.  The first being that some people will never grow up and move on.  The second, don't invite insane people into your family.
