Fire In The Hole Started by: BoydCrowder on Mar 08, '14 22:30

Boyd came home from the war a changed man. For the better or for the worse? Well that wasn't for any mere mortal to decide I suppose. Boyd had always been in demolition in The Army. He had found that his experience overseas translated well here in the promise land. New York City.

Fire in the hole! Boyd ducked behind his vehicle, the explosion of an abandoned church shaking the ground.

Boyd smiled and admired his work. Every cop in town just heard that, it should give him plenty of time with his intended target, across town. A local snitch who ratted out an old friend. There wasn't much to it, everyone knows what happens to rats in this thing of ours. Not to mention how much enjoyment Boyd would get snuffing out another life.

The rat was a doper living in a flop house in Queens. Coincidentally, a week before today, Boyd purchased a cheap garage down the street.

Boyd strolled in to the unlocked and unkept home, it was almost too easy. Needle in his arm, passed out on the couch. By the time he woke up out of his poppy induced coma he was tied to a chair in the middle of a cold garage.

Boyd stood there, waiting for him to awake, as soon as his victim opened his eyes he knew how it would end. You could see the outline of Boyd's Zippo in his jean pocket. He took it out of his pocket and lit a cigarette. Blowing smoke in his victims face he stepped closer.

Would you like one final smoke friend, before you begin your journey? Boyd smiled, feeling a sense of honor in allowing this poor soul one last comfort.

A tear flowed down the snitch's face as he nodded slowly, accepting his fate. Boyd placed a Lucky Strike between his lips and lit it with that good old Zippo.

You know, this Zippo was my father's, he got it from his father, and his father brought it from a place not so different from these shores. This Zippo has seen Godfathers rise and fall. It has survived through takedowns, city flattenings and worse.

Boyd began to walk away and whispered 'I hope you take solace in the fact that something so important, will take your life.'

The man's eyes widen, Boyd's smile became larger, as he kicked the man in his chest, knocking the chair back; Then began to light the gasoline soaked garage ablaze, and calmly walked out the door.
