The Story of Johnny Ace. Started by: Jaysanity on Aug 03, '14 07:24

You find yourself at this abandoned warehouse, yet again. As you creep inside, clutching the second note tightly to your chest, you notice someone has taken the time to clean the hallways and rooms. As you make your way back to the dark office, you find the room has been rearranged a little. However, the desk still sits in front of the window, chair facing away from you as you enter.

"So you thought that was all to the story of Jay, the Insane did you?"

A familiar voice calls from behind the chair. You tilt your head with curiosity as the chair slowly turns around. To your surprise, the same older gentleman who had spoken to you last time smiles at you with his cigar.

"What's the matter my friend, you look as though you've seen a ghost!"

The man laughs a bit, not paying your obvious confusion any mind. He reopens his book and leans back in his chair.

"This, my friend, is the story of Johnny Ace... Brother to Jay, the Insane. 10 years prior to Jay's birth, a 16 year old girl and her 19 year old lover ran away from their homes in New york and escaped to try their luck in New Jersey. The girl, already pregnant, would stay at home while the father of her child would work tirelessly to make ends meet. Sometime in June of that year, she gave birth to a healthy young lad they would name Johnny. He was his mother's gift from heaven and, once his father began making more money as a shoe salesman a few months later, he began becoming spoiled rotten."

The man rises up from his seat, to obtain two glasses and a bottle of fancy scotch. He reclaims his seat, pouring a glass for himself first and taking a sip. He then begins pouring your glass. You examine the scotch for a minute before taking a sip.

"Enjoy my friend. You don't know how hard good scotch is to obtain in these parts. Now, where was I?"

He glances back to his book and then smiles.

"Ahh, that's right! By the age of 5, Johnny had begun to have a craving for money. More money than his barely middle class parents could afford. Everything he saw he wanted, and everything he wanted his parents got him.. or at least tried. By the time he was 10 he already hated his father for not being rich. He stopped attending school because the clothes he had weren't rich kid clothes, and his toys weren't rich kid toys. He was forced to be homeschooled by his mother, using books his father worked extremely hard to be able to afford. However, that year his mother gave birth to another child, and suddenly Johnny wasn't as important anymore. He wasn't getting all the toys he asked for, he wasn't getting all the clothes he wanted. He couldn't even get his mother's attention anymore. To him, the birth of his baby brother was the worst moment of his life!"

He pauses for a moment, enjoying another sip of the fine Scotch. The bags under his eyes tell you that he doesn't sleep much, and that telling you these stories is probably the highlight of his life right now.

"When Johnny was around 15 or 16, he met up with a man named 'Ace'. Ace was a twenty something grunt for the Jersey Legion. But to Johnny, he was rich and cool. Well, richer than his parents anyway. He eventually ran off with the Jersey Legion, becoming a drug runner for them. Once he received the trust of the Don a few years down the road, he told him of his little brother's apparent talents and how he could use them to make money. This made the Don pretty happy, so happy that he gave Johnny the honor of deciding the fate of his rebelling parents. He and Ace stood over his father after a long brutal beating and had a sick smile as he pulled the trigger on his own flesh and blood. His mother couldn't wrap her head around the thought of her precious little angel doing such a deed. He gave Ace and the rest of the family permission to do whatever they pleased with his mother, and that his brother was to be exploited until his fingers bled and he had no further use except target practice. Now, you remember how their mother committed suicide, causing Jay to lose his mind, correct? Well Johnny attempted to blame it all on Jay. Telling him that it was his fault that their mother was so miserable and that it was his fault that they were in this situation. Jay quietly endured this mental assault, until he finally released his pent up anger and hatred. Luckily for Johnny, he was out doing family business the night of the party. But when he returned, his little black heart was torn to pieces as he looked on to his don's corpse."

Noticing you finished your glass, he happily pours you another. His signature smile easily convinces you to indulge in this fine bit of liquor.

"Now, Johnny knew Jay was the culprit, but for four years Jay was nowhere to be found. So Johnny started his own family, The Bloodfire Gang, alongside his longtime friend and mentor Ace. When Jay resurfaced, Johnny had no idea. He was too busy collecting money and falling victim to his many guilty pleasures. However, eventually Jay made a splash in the crime world when he eliminated his entire crew. He instantly appeared on Johnny's radar and he became thirsty for his kin's blood. But unfortunately, Jay was much harder to kill than he would have imagined, losing hitman after hitman to his little brother. Eventually, Jay grew tired of the threats and decided to make things really personal. On Johnny's 31st birthday, he came home to a trashed surprise party, covered in the blood and corpses of his closest friends, the main of which being Ace. Johnny then swore on his life that he would kill his brother, and took on a new name of 'Johnny Ace' in honor of his friend. However, Jay had become untouchable and the police in New Jersey valued his life for all the work he did for them. So Johnny cut the Chief detective as well as the governor a deal; he would betray the underworld of New Jersey in return of the banishment of Jay from New Jersey. This put the brothers on an even playing field. The Governor accepted the deal and Jay was then banished from New Jersey."

The man closes the book with a smile, as you look to him with suspense. 'How does the story end? Did Johnny try once more at revenge?'. These thoughts invade your mind as you attempt to read past the old man's gentle smile.

"I can tell you aren't a man who can admire the thrill of a cliffhanger, so I'll spoil the ending for you. Johnny followed Jay to New York, and challenged him to a standoff on the rooftop of what is now Jay's home. I'm sure you can figure out the rest on your own!"

He laughs reaching under the table and tossing you a newspaper. The headlines read "Rooftop shootout pg14". As you flip through the pages to find more details on what happened you finally reach page 14, but the page is almost completely blank. The only words you find on the paper send a cold chill down your spine. You glance back up towards the man, but once again, he has vanished as if into thin air, leaving you to stare back down at the paper.. which reads:

"Best Regards,  Jay, the Insane"
