Sibling Rivalry Started by: Jay on Aug 12, '14 02:51

You arrive at the warehouse full of excitement. These stories have been getting so interesting that you realize you haven't been waiting for the notes to arrive. The old man doesn't seem to mind as you, once more, take a seat across from him. You do have a tad bit of concern for him as you recall his hasty departure last time, but today he seems full of life.

" It isn't a secret that Jay and Sophia are no longer in the great New York any longer. Now why would Jay ever feel the need to run away from someone? Well the truth is that he isn't running, he's chasing."

The man once again opens the book, and you arch your brow in suspicion. You recall opening the book yourself awhile back and the pages being empty and this old man clearly isn't in the best health. How could he remember every small detail of these stories? As usual, you toss your suspicious ideas aside to listen to the old man's tale.

" On the night of the legendary shootout between Johnny Ace and Jay the Insane, Johnny had put a hit out on Jay as insurance in case he were to be killed. As the two brothers stood across from each other on that rooftop, Sophia sat quietly below in her closet. Johnny took the first shot, that swiftly went past Jay's head. A flinch would've granted him a headshot, but instead allowed Jay to fire back. As he fired, Johnny ducked down behind a concrete wall, dodging the bullet that might've killed him. Johnny quickly got up and fired two shots, Jay slid down and hid behind a metal crate. The two would exchange fire for several minutes, shifting between cover. At one point, both men were shot several times, before eventually running out of ammunition. When Jay fired his last round , missing Johnny by an inch, Johnny took advantage tackled him to the ground. He then placed his barrel to his forehead with a smile and said ' Goodbye little brother'. But when he squeezed the trigger, a cold tingle went down his spine as he realized he too was out of ammo. Jay smiled, kicking his brother off of him and began to punch him repeatedly in the face. Johnny's hands started off covering his face, but then collapsed to his side as the beating continued. Somehow, however, Johnny mustered up the strength to reach for a brick and smashed it across the face of Jay. The blow sent Jay to the ground bleeding pretty bad from the side of his head. Johnny then climbed on top of his brother and raised the brick over his head and attempted to slam it into his skull again, but Jay had other ideas with the knife hidden up his sleeve. He slid it out, stabbing his brother several times in the side, then tossing him 5 stories into the water below. Although Johnny was presumed to be dead, his body was never found."

You've heard this story before. At the time it happened, many of New York and philly's mobsters and drunks were talking about it. You remember hearing about it in a bar five blocks away from that very apartment complex. But what does Jay's dead brother have to do with him leaving New York? Who was he chasing?

" Not long after Johnny was pronounced dead by local police, many small time mobsters tried their luck at taking out Jay. It wasn't a huge issue for him as it reminded him of his life back in Jersey, but he did not want this to be the life for Sophia. So, he spoke to a Godfather in one of New Yorks districts about removing the hit. In exchange for removing the hit, Jay was forced to assassinate a few high ranking valued targets of a rival family. Jay isn't stupid, he knew that taking part would only cause the target on his back to grow larger. So instead of just killing like he normally would, he hired an associate. The two of them worked together in killing off the Godfather's hit list, but when they did kill Jay would keep evidence of his associate's involvement in the acts and destroy the evidence of his own. As a bonus, his associate would also help out when someone was trying to take him out. It was a pretty sweet deal."

The man slid a folder across the table to you. On the cover in bold red letters it states "Evidence". Upon opening the folder you see pictures of dead bodies with one man holding a pistol to each of them. You understand that the man in the photos are the associate. You know that things would most likely end badly for the associate, but you shrug. In this business sometimes you have to play a little dirty to survive and protect those you care about. You slide the folder across the table back to him and he continues.

" Unfortunately, when the deeds were done and Jay's hit was paid off by the Godfather, Jay found little to no use for him. So when the rival family came around looking for answers Jay gave up evidence on his associates involvement. However, the rival family only laughed in his face as the associate entered the room. Without hesitation the associate pulled out a revolver and placed a bullet in jay's chest. Jay sat there dazed and confused as the wound in his chest began to cover his shirt with blood. As he looked up the associate began to peel fake skin from his face, revealing the horrific fact that it was indeed his brother, Johnny Ace. Johnny then reclaimed his daughter, who was resistant at first but a bit of duct tape and rope made her more compliant. Jay was tied up as well, but they didn't feel the need to tape his mouth as not only did he stay silent, but Johnny wanted to hear him beg for his life when he killed him. Sophia and Jay were tossed into the back of a van and driven to a lake. They had everything they needed to cement Jay to the bottom of the lake... Except Jay! Somehow, during the drive  to the lake Jay was able to untie himself and go out the back of the van. He couldn't risk getting sophia hurt, and he was positive Johnny wouldn't harm his own daughter so he allowed her to be taken by Johnny for the moment so he could patch himself up and re-arm. But Johnny wasn't planning on sticking around to feel Jay's wrath."

The old man then slides a short letter across the table to You. You lift it up and begin examine it and notice that there is some blood on it. It reads:

"Dear Vinnie,

A lone wolf that is wounded with his back to the wall is when he is most dangerous. My brother is a lone wolf, and he will come after us for Sophia and revenge. I do not think that New York is a safe place of operations any longer, at least not for the head of your family and I. I say we take our chances with friends in Chicago for now. In a city where he has no associates or friends will be our best chance of finishing him off, for good. Along with this letter I have sent you your train ticket in hopes that you take my offer. I will arrange for your retrieval from the airport. Best of luck my friend.

                                                                                                                         Signed,

                                                                                                                         Johnny Ace

You look up at the old man who gives you a smirk. He begins to speak again as he reclaims the letter.

"Let's just say the GodFather never made it to Chicago, and Johnny essentially paid for his brother to follow him to Chicago. Now, you would imagine that the loss of their Godfather would cause them to hunt Jay down until he was no more, but you'd be forgetting that they were currently at war with another family. The family Jay helped in order to clear his name. Before they knew it, the majority of their family were six feet under, or hiding out somewhere. Anyone with the balls to go after Jay on their own would be dealt with accordingly, but Jay had bigger issues on his mind: Finding his brother and getting Sophia back. And who knows what kind of trouble a guy like Jay could get into in a place like that."

The man smiled again, as he closed the book. You frown a little, expecting to hear about Jay's search for his brother, but the Old man appeared tired. He slowly rose to his feet and walked across the room to a hatrack you've never noticed before. He claims a hat and a coat from it and begins the task of putting it on.

" I would love to entertain you further, friend, but I have other tasks to attend to"

The man slowly makes his departure down the hallway and you smile to yourself, happy that he has other things to do besides sitting around cleaning all day. But your smile quickly fades as you wonder how a man who moves so slow manages to vanish the way he does. You begin to follow the direction he went, walking at first but then turning into a full on sprint. You can still hear his footsteps as you chase him down the hall, and soon you almost reach him as you see him turn a corner towards the exit. But as you turn the corner, he is gone leaving only a note on the door that causes your heart to cringe:

"Best Regards, Jay the Insane"
