Topcat is waiting outside the prison gates for his ride to pick him up. He just finished a 10 year bid for being caught with a truck full of booze near the Canadian border. The day he was busted he was following all the right steps, he drove slow, didn't look suspicious, and didn't make any unnecessary stops. He was caught because the supplier was an undercover agent.

They were investigating him and the folks that he worked with building a case on them that took the entire organization down. Many of them were given life sentences, some ran away to the Caribbean, and the not so lucky were dead or took their own lives. All of that was in the past now it was 1933 and prohibition was over.

He was waiting for Michael_Viglione. Michael was a friend of his now dead Uncle and he met him once way back. Michael came out of the car and gave Topcat a hug.

"Hey look who it is. TC I was wonderin when they would let you out. How long was it 10 years?Damn I'm sure Bubba is gonna miss ya"

TopCat laughed

"Oh shut up, you only do two days anyway. The day you come in and the day you come out. Anyway I'm happy to be out of here."

"Of course If I was stuck up in there with a bunch of men for 10 years I'd be happy to get out too. Now come on lets get out of this dump.I got a place where you can stay"

They got into his car and drove away. Vegas changed in the 10 years that TopCat was away gambling was now legal and there were a bunch of casinos. He didn't believe Michael when he told him that there was a depression going on. Michael dropped TopCat off at what looked like a dump.

"What happened to my old place? The Fuck I gotta stay at this dump?" TopCat asked

"You've been out of this life for 10 years things change. The crew you used to run with isn’t around anymore, prohibition is over we have stopped bootlegging, This thing of ours is still the same as it ever was but now the people in this business are into other things."

"Call this number if you need some work. Look I know you're pissed that you sorta have to start over but look you kept your head down and your mouth shut. You took your 10 years and you did them like a man. That sorta thing helps you out. Anyway see ya kid."

Michael drives away and TopCat goes inside his new place. It's a small place and TopCat lies down on the couch and takes a nap. He wakes up two hours later and thinks about calling that number Michael gave him.
