The Philly Business Boom | Started by: Utopia on Jan 08, '15 10:19 |
The Godfathers of Philly have a problem. The legitimate face of their empire isn’t pumping enough cash into their pockets to keep the feds from getting nosy. The Philly Business District, while somewhat active, isn't booming. We've got to change that. Long story short, the crew leaders of Philly are coming together to build a very generous prize pool to reward the bright and beautiful mafioso from all over the country that are up to the task of adding a touch of creativity to our business district. As of Friday 9th January, all the way up to and including Friday 16th January, mafioso from all over the country are invited to descend upon Philly's business district for a week of excitement as the city looks to kickstart the Business District back into action. Will you start a business of your own? Will you visit existing businesses? Or will you visit new ones? The prize categories will reward all three actions, if done well. Talking of the categories, here are some:
You'll notice there are only three. That's because the other categories will be made up retrospectively. They'll reward creativity, effort and anything that interests the Philadelphia crew leaders - who will be acting as judges. Naturally, the normal standards and procedures regarding our business district will apply. Send the blueprints of your business to a Philadelphia crew leader before posting, and if it's of good quality, you'll be good to go!
Have fun! |

I do have to admit, I really love this idea. Congratulations to all of those involved in coming up with it and managing to bring it to fruition. Our lives must have the semblance of normality if we're to keep the FEDs from our doors. What better way to launder our ill gotten gains than with Business District fronts spread around our fine cities. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting a Don needs to actually serve a drink in a bar or that a button man should be out washing cars, but having your name over the lease of any business is a great way to keep the tax man from sniffing around. If a business is well run, you might even get some perks coming from it too. I look forward to seeing the streets of Philadelphia booming as the city seeks to inject some life back into the town with this support and injection of capital into new enterprises. Anything that brings more prosperity to the cities, the streets and this thing of ours has to be seen as a positive and should be commended as such! Thank you Don Utopia and all of the fine leaders of Philadelphia for this initiative and I look forward to being a part of it. |

Tony Capazzo looks at the information and nods. He then speaks out. It's a pleasure to see Philadelphia taking a added effort into lining it's streets with profitable, successful businesses. I too have thrown my name into the hat with South Philly's newest night club LUX located of course in the Philly's business district. All those are invited to come check that out along with the other businesses in Philadelphia. Tony Capazzo gives one of his normal charming smiles and then tacks up a poster board revealing promotional information about LUX.
Tony looks at the poster and smiles. Yeah it's going to be a good week! |

After hearing the prospect of making money in Philadelphia, Swiggle calls his business partners and sets up a meeting. After several hours of discussion, they finally agreed to open up shop. He calls his driver/bodyguard and instructs him.
"Let's head for Philly.... We will be opening up our shop there!" |

Whatsername left the medical room on her new crotches. She had had a great day in the Philly business district. Maybe a little too much fun when it ends with her ankle wrapped, throbbing and her on crotches. She thought back to the swim in the pool at Lux, the new paint job on her car from Philly Motor's, the magnificent drink at The Hammer and Sickle, the new gun she was going to have delivered from the Gun Shop and the expected abuse of Setanta she had ordered at The Potato HQ. Today had been a wonderful day, even if it ended with her trip to the medical room. As she took a bite out of her fresh apple she had picked up at the grocery store she approached Utopia out on the street. Thank you for getting this competition rolling and some life back into our business district. I had a great time today and I can see others are too. |

He shakes Utopia's hand. This is a fantastic idea and I am kicking myself that I didn't think of it. It looks like all of Philadelphia has got behind this idea as the prize pot begins to swell. I will be sure to fly over and have a look round at what the businesses have to offer and get involved in the fun. Thank you all those behind this idea and all those that have contributed to the prize fund. I will be sure to head to Lux first off to enjoy the atmosphere. |

Tony Capazzo steps forward and takes off his lime green ribboned fedora and holds it across his chest. "I would like to thank Don Utopia for this amazing idea and also much thanks to Godmother Whatsername, Godmother Inertia and Godfather Tetley. The support has been amazing. Thank you to all the families and members that also helped with the organization of this highly successful project. Philly's business districts are booming and couldn't be any better." Tony smiled. "I would also like to personally say thank you for the kind gifts given to me, I really appreciate it very much and also congratulations to all the other business owners and winners as well...but..I think we can all agree there is only one winner tonight." Tony continued smiling as he put back on his fedora. "Philadelphia." |

My personal thanks to everyone who was so generous; both materially and indeed with their time, I don't think it escaped anyone's notice that judging this contest was an extremely time intensive practice. I look forward to seeing you all on the streets of Philly! |

I'd like to congratulate Philly on such a brilliant competition. After visiting the Business District in Philly there's is a substantial difference in activity there and you've been able to get it booming once more. Business Districts can be tough to manage and difficult to keep booming and you've been able to do this, along with some great rewards for everyone's efforts. I can envisage many City's being extremely jealous of this coup and once again, Congratulations to all involved! |
