Philadelphia Art Gallery Pinch Started by: Scarfo on Mar 11, '15 13:10

It began quite simply. Six of Philadelphia's criminal elite gathered together for a job that would have their pockets full, and names circulated amongst those in the know. The streets, they always knew. As if a drunk man just couldn't help himself; that was how Scarfo thought news circulated. One person said something whilst out on their daily rounds, and before you knew it, the word had spread. Like a fire that couldn't be extinguished. And just after the job started, it seemed destined for the same notoriety.

The job itself was planned well in advance. Latin had hired Scarfo to get a group of individuals from Philadelphia together, which ended up being a mixture from South Philly and Old City District. A group specifically recruited to pull off one of the biggest job of the year, to rob Philadelphia's Pennsylvania Museum of Art.

It was well noted that the museum had just undertaken the single largest purchase by a Museum, worth more than one million dollars. It included some 200 objects including impressive Gothic and Renaissance sculpture, furniture, and the magnificent marble and alabaster choir screen from the Chapel of the Chateau at Pagny.

It was opening weekend, and the items were on display, scattered amongst twenty second-floor galleries in one of the Museum's two buildings, Cedar Grove. This branch of the Museum was on the opposite side of Fairmont park, a short distance from the main building. The main building, Mount Pleasant, was expected to be virtually empty whilst the expensive collection was on show to the public for the first time. If there was a perfect time for this work, they believed this was be it.

Each member Scarfo ended up recruiting had a role to play. Some specific to their talents, and others simply because they were known gunman and could be trusted. Each were quite well recognized as criminals in Philadelphia. They were local mobsters, and they stuck out like a sore thumb. It was decided to give them all a specific colour to call each other whilst on the job, instead of and to conceal their real names, and a mask to wear, to hide their real faces.

Together, they were instructed to hit the Mount Pleasant building and break into an underground safe that reportedly had diamonds stashed away for safe keeping, amongst other things. There would be minimal activity with a minor grouping of Museum staff, yet the majority of attention would be on the new exhibition. Most of this building would be accessible, besides a locked door to an underground cellar. This needed to be opened first, then there was a clear path to the safe, and the diamonds.

Karmen, a new member of South Philly Phoenix, was given the name 'Pink' and a 'Panda' mask as well as the role of driving one of the cars to and from the job. She was also tasked with being a lookout. Her car was parked across the street until the time was right and the entrance was clear of any activity. Karmen kicked the vehicle into gear and rushed them straight to the front of the targeted main building of the Museum.

Phantom, a long standing member of South Philly Phoenix, who had the name 'Blue' and wore a 'Sheep' mask was hired to be one of three gunman. He exited the car first and ran straight towards the main entrance with fellow South Philly Phoenix member Aislin in hot pursuit. She had the nickname 'White" and wore a 'Fox' mask, and was also hired to wield one of the tommy guns. After confirming the coast was clear, they waved back at the vehicle.

Next and last to exit Karmen's car was TonyCapazzo, Don of Phoenix Rising and another South Philly local. He went by the name 'Green' and was wearing a 'Tiger' mask. He'd been hired as a lock specialist, yet also had a handgun at the ready. He jogged toward the entrance, joining Phantom and Aislin. Karmens car screeched away as they made their way inside, through main doors, submachine guns at the ready, with Tony closely behind.

At the back of the museum another car was parked, where more members were making their way inside the building, simultaneously. Rose-Raje, an Old City District resident and member of The Forest Far Away - The Camel Humpers, made her way toward the back door wearing a 'Lion' mask; she had the name 'Red' for the job and was the third heavily armed member. Seconds later, Archy, Rose's Don and leader of The Camel Humpers, followed whilst wearing a 'Camel' mask and answering to the name 'Black'. Both waited a moment, before Archy gave the nod then Rose and her tommy gun led them inside.

The job as it was planned, raced through Karmen's mind as she pulled the car around back, parking next to the second vehicle. It was to get inside simultaneously, manage the staff and anyone else present, whilst Tony gained access to the cellar and Archy finally went to worked on the safe. Upon retrieving the diamonds, they would exit through the back and high tail it out of there before anyone was the wiser.

That was the grand plan, as they discussed it many times prior. That was before Karmen heard shots from inside the building. The job was now underway and it was only a matter of time before someone would be by to check on things. What happened next became the infamous 'Philadelphia Art Gallery Pinch'.

The story would go on to circulate the streets for years to come, yet only those in attendance really knew what happened...

After making sure his bodyguards were properly trained, Vandlgat took a plane to Philadelphia to meet up with an old friend from back when he was a gangster. The original intention was meet at an art gallery there and discuss women and vino.

Sadly, Vandlgat never met up with him.

When he arrived at the art gallery, he had turned around and went the other direction. The place was swarming with police.

Vandlgat spent no time investigating what had happened, he felt that it would be best if he stayed away from law enforcement.

After his arrangements being canceled, Vandlgat purchases a shipment of opium and peddles it on a street corner, nickle and diming to maximize profit..........

Today was a important day, a job directed down from Don Latin to Scarfo.

Don Capazzo sat in the car looking at Karmen, Phantom and Aislin. Tony was not in his usual apparel, no longer was he in his fine Italian suit, no..this time he was wearing clothes of the every day man. A simple black shirt and black jeans and resting atop his head was his normal lime green ribboned fedora. The 4 discussed the plan and one of the crew members attempted to call Don Capazzo by his name when he quickly raised his hand in the air.

"Remember, it's GREEN on this one guys."

Tony looked at the group and nodded.

"I want this to be a very in and out job. I don't care what we leave here with...diamonds or no diamonds we MUST stay on track, there are no ifs ands or buts about it. Time is of the essence and we have to get out as soon as possible."

Everyone acknowledged him.

"Don Ar-"

Tony quickly stopped himself so as to not confuse himself or the others while the mission was active. It was important that no names be used for obvious reasons. He corrected himself not using Don Archy or Rose's names as he continued.

"Black and Red will be meeting us downstairs once I get the cellar open and Black will crack the safe, we scoop the diamonds, exit through the back and haul ass. Remember it's very very important we get in and out, no delaying, in and out as soon as possible. If we have to pull the plug on this one in the middle of it all then so be it."

Tony wanted to get the point across that they didn't have even a second of breathing room, it had to be a quick stealth job. He looked over to the Cedar Grove building, patrons were filling the place by the hundreds as everyone gathered to come observe the sculptures, furniture and other fine arts the place had to offer. Tony thought this would be a key factor considering the staff and security would be directing the majority of their attention there. The main building would have less traffic therefore his necessity of time wouldn't be hard to manage.

He looked over opposite Cedar Grove at Fairmont Park, nothing seemed out the ordinary, no extra law enforcement. Good. Then he set his eye on the 'golden goose', it was the main building, THEE TARGET...Mount Pleasant, in it stored away was diamonds worth riches. Everything looked on the up and up and this was the time to make the move.

Tony removed his lime green ribboned fedora and looked at it for a moment. He kissed the ribbon and placed it down on the seat. He reached for a mask, a tiger represented on the front of it. He slid it across the top of his head and looked at Phantom and Aislin. They were wielding there Tommy Guns and Tony had his side piece with him should any unforeseen problems arise.

"Ok Blue your up first."

A few moments passed and Tony continued.

"Now you White."

Tony watched as the two Sheep and Fox masked awaited him. Before leaving the car he looked at Karmen one last time and as he put on his tiger mask he uttered once again.

"Pink...In and out, no time to waste."

He looked at her Panda mask and nodded. With that he exited the car and jogged. Although Tony had been to countless jobs in his criminal career it was always a thrill each and every time. The excitement rushed to his head and he felt a burst of adrenaline as he ran up closer to Phantom and Aislin.

They made their way through the main doors. Tony did not want to engage in a old western shootout, he wanted it to be stealthy. Once they got through the main doors and the corridor they quickly surveyed things. A few security guards, nothing major. They walked down the hall heading to the back, toward the door leading to the basement.

Phantom and Aislin were well behind a wall hidden as Tony tried to catch up, suddenly a guard turned around. MISSION BLOWN!

....NO! Tony quickly dived across the hall and landed behind the wall with Phantom and Aislin.

"Fuck."

That was a little to close for comfort Tony thought. They kept walking. The walls were bright white and filled with extravagant paintings and various works of arts. This however was no time to explore, there was a job to be done and as Tony repeatedly said he wanted to get in and out as quick as possible.

Finally the three got to the cellar door. The environment as expected was very quite, all the action was going on at the other building and the timing couldn't be more perfect. You could hear a pin drop so they proceeded with extreme precaution.

"Blue..Pink..look out for me please."

Tony nodded at the two as he reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small object used to pick locks. This reminded him of his time in the mafia world as he was coming up, he was known as one of the better lock picks throughout all of the mafia and just because he happened to be the Boss of the Phoenix Rising family, he never forgot where he came from nor his skills.

He put the item into the lock of the cellar door and started turning it. He paused for a moment and looked up to Aislin and Phantom.

"Good?"

The two acknowledged him the coast was clear, the environment was ideal for this very type of job. Tony quickly made a few turns and in a few short seconds the lock clicked. Tony turned the handle and the cellar door opened. He looked at Aislin and Phantom with a smile on his face.

"Fuckin aye."

Ever since she was a little girl, Karmen knew she was destined for big things. Along the way, she got rid of her dream to be an actress and decided that she wanted to live the Mafia life, to climb to the top of the power pile. She knew that she had to prove herself if she wanted that success. And this was the perfect opportunity.

For this job, she had been trusted to be the driver, which meant that she was the one that drove everyone to the site, and then drove everyone to safety after the job was complete. She knew for a fact that if anyone got shot, or killed, or even just put in jail, that she would be the disappointment of the family for many years. So, she had to keep everyone alive and walking free, and ensure a safe getaway when the job was done. At this moment, she was thankful her mom forced her to do that driving course two years ago, even though it was in a buggy pulled by a horse... At least she knew how to direct a horse correctly and.. Oh well! She knew how to drive. That was all that mattered!

After arriving at the destination, Karmen, seated in the driver's seat, listened intently as TonyCapazzo (Green) gave everyone the outline of the job, what would happen, who was doing what, etc. She put her Panda mask on just before Tony put on his Tiger mask, and Phantom (Blue) and Aislin (White) followed suit with their masks. Blue wore a sheep mask and White wore a fox mask. Karmen nodded in agreement after Green said to her, "Pink.... In and out, no time to waste," to which she replied with a quick "good luck."

Green nodded to her and they were off, running towards the target building, Mount Pleasant. She kept an eye out for anyone that looked like they were suspicious, and also kept an eye out for cops suddenly running towards the building. Everything looked normal. Birds were still chirping, the wind was still rustling the leaves around in the trees, and everyone's daily lives were still continuing as always. The sun was shining down through the open window of the car and she was really starting to wish she hadn't had to wear an all black outfit...

Karmen knew that people were and would continue to be filing into the Cedar Grove building to view all of the sculptures and art and what not, and that the Mount Pleasant building would be almost empty. She hoped for a successful heist, and could only sit and wait, twiddling her thumbs and wishing she could be IN on the action.

The gentle breeze was making her hair blow around her mask, and she could smell the shampoo she used that morning through the little nose holes. She got lost in thought thinking about the doughnut that she ate afterwards.. The sweet icing and the soft dough.. The sticky-fingers she had right before she washed her hands under the warm water running out of the sink faucet.. The smell of her hand soap.....

Karmen snapped out of her twenty second daydream when she heard gun shots from inside the building.

Oh no!! She thought to herself, as a million thoughts came rushing into her mind. She wondered who it was that had to fire their gun. Was it a guard? Was Blue hurt? White? Green? When no one came rushing out of the building, Karmen began to freak out a little. She got out of the vehicle to get a better view of the people in the vicinity that could have heard the gun shot, but no one seemed to have noticed.

There was a dirty-looking hobo sleeping on a park bench, but that was the only person within actual hearing distance. She breathed a small sigh of relief at the lack of suspicion from the bystanders, but was still worried that someone was hurt inside. Wishing she had a brown paper bag to breathe into, Karmen opened the car door again and forced herself to get inside, shut the door and just sit. And wait.

And wait.

Five minutes later, no one had exited the building, and she started wishing again for that brown paper bag. She could only imagine how it was going inside. Maybe a guard had seized all of them and was just waiting for police to show up? But, if that were the case, the police would already be here. Unless the police were busy? She knew that Archy (Black) and Rose-Raje (Red) were supposed to meet Blue, White and Green downstairs when Green got the cellar door open, but she had no idea how far along they had gotten with the whole plan.

Karmen got out of the car again to walk around a little and look for cops, and to listen for sirens. She heard a siren off in the distance, and that one was soon accompanied by another siren, and then another, and another. They were growing closer and closer, and she wished for the cops to not be coming here, to the spot of this job.

"What could have happened inside?" She wondered aloud to no one in particular.

The gun shots happened not long after Green, Blue and White entered the building. Maybe a guard spotted them? Shot their gun at them and then alerted the cops? All she knew was the cops were coming, and she had no clue how to alert the ones that were stuck inside. She knew she should just sit in the car and wait, but she didn't want anyone to die or get put in jail.... All she could do was pace around and hope that the members of Philly inside the Mount Pleasant building could hear the sirens and would get out safe so she could drive them all away from the scene!

Phantom was stunned and amazed by all the art work. His eyes were glued to the paintings on the wall. The paintings brought back fond memories of his childhood, when his parents would take him to art galleries throughout America every month. The door creaked open and it brought Phantom back to reality. His emotions flowed back, the nerves, the fear, and the sheer excitement. Phantom smiled and nodded at both Aislin and TonyCapazzo. Phantom ventured down into the cellar, he cautiously walked down the steps. He stuck close to the center as he didn't want to get his dark grey three button single breasted suit dirty. Not every mobster gets a specific suit tailored for robbing an art gallery.

The noise of the sirens roared in the distance. Phantom knew that the police were close. At the bottom of the cellar stairs there was a narrow corridor, covered in cobwebs and dust. It smelled really bad; it probably hasn't been cleaned in years. The corridor was very dark. Phantom aimed his Tommy gun at the bottom of the corridor.  Quiet footsteps were heard from the stairs. Phantoms heart raced and he became even more nervous. Aislin and Phantom turned around simultaneously, aiming their gun at the stairs. It was Rose-Raje and Archy. Phantom let out a sigh of relief.

“Perfect timing Red and Black. Black you ready to open the safe?” Phantom whispered across the corridor.

Loud footsteps and talking reverberated from outside the cellar door. Phantom stopped what he was doing and fixed his ears towards the noise. Phantom looked nervously at Tony. What will we do? Phantom thought to himself. Phantom tapped himself on the chest and then pointed to the stairs. He was signalling to the others that he would check the noise out alone. Phantom carefully walked up the stairs. Why did I volunteer myself?  I should be at home reading the newspaper and drinking scotch. Phantom debated to himself. He fixed his sheep mask and walked out of the cellar door with his Tommy gun by his side.

“Excuse me, but is this the Cedar Grove building?”

A man’s voice sounded from the group of five. Phantom recognized the man’s face from somewhere. The group quickly realized that Phantom was holding a Tommy gun. Their faces dropped and they stood motionless. Phantom pointed the gun at them.

“Anyone that moves will be shot. Now follow me, no talking”

Phantom proceeded to walk back to down the stairs with the group of art goers behind him. He was beginning to get stressed, everything that could go wrong has. Phantom tried to make the best out of a bad situation.

“Sorry everyone it looks like we have company. What will we do Green?” Phantom turned his attention towards the group.
“You all get down on the ground, hands behind your head and shut the fuck up” Phantom rarely swore under any circumstance but the frustration was getting the better of him.

“Please don’t hurt us; we don’t know who you are or what you look like” The man said.

Then it dawned on Phantom, he knew who that guy was. That was the man who stole his fiancee on the day of Phantoms wedding. He remembers the embarrassment and the humiliation he suffered that day. Phantom emotions flowed back and his face was red with anger. The mask covered Phantoms true feelings from everyone inside the cellar and he walked over to the man who was lying face down on the cold ground. A single gunshot entered the back of the man’s head and left through his eye. The blood splattered onto Phantoms brown leather shoes and the noise echoed throughout the room. The rest of the group trembled in fear as the blood poured from the lifeless corpse.

“I said for no one to speak”

Archy slowed down as they arrived to thearound the museum, he looked around as he moved slowly around the building and parked at the back, he turned the engine off and waited a little making sure no one's looking, he then turns to Rose-Raje.

"Okay Rose, let's get done with this."

Archy opens the gloves box and pulls two masks out, he takes the camel one for himself and gives the lion to Rose, he puts it on and checks himself in the mirror.

"I look much like Astro, don't you think?"

Archy chuckles as he brings a large black bag he had kept below his seat. He opened the zip and checked inside for his tools; the stethoscope, the saw, the hammer and of course his browning HighPower, but there was one more thing out there, Archy reached for the Tommy gun and handed it to Rose, before he got out he turned back to Rose.

"This should be an easy job, in and out smoothly. The guards aren't experienced so we shouldn't need to use the guns. We need to do this as quick as possible, but I am not leaving without those diamonds."

"Astro wouldn't be happy with us if we didn't get them"

Archy chuckled as he opened the door and got out of the car, he then picked his piece and hid it in the back of his waist, closed the zipper of the bag and hang it to his shoulder, he nodded at Rose then walked towards the building, then went down a few stairs to find themselves standing on an old steel door, the door was too old and worn to take a lock apparently, it was left open.

"Stay close Red"

They both walked slowly through the door into a dark corridor, at the end of that corridor some noise could be heard, Archy motioned to Rose to keep quite and stay behind him, they walked close to the wall till the edge, the man was resting on a chair with his legs on a desk in front of him getting wasted and listening to music on the radio. Archy nodded to Rose.

"I got this, don't worry."

Archy then pulled his piece and slowly moved behind the man, as he got closer, the guy turned around apparently he felt something weird in the room, but Archy quickly hit him with the back of his piece on his face causing the guy to faint. Archy whispered to Rose.

"Come on Red, help me move him aside."

The two worked together on moving the drunken guard's body to a dark corner behind some boxes in the room, then they proceeded to a few stairs at the other end of the room where they found a door apparently that's the one leading to the cellar. Archy felt the door first, it was a light wooden one,so he pushed Rose gently away and stepped back a few steps then kicked the door roughly at the edge... it broke into pieces

"Faster than picking the lock, wait here."

Archy then walked into the place, he walked around slowly in the dark making sure no one's around he came back to the door, reached to the right looking for the light switch, he turned it on and motioned for Rose to move in.

"Come on it's clear here... We don't have much time, they are waiting for us at the end of this corridor."

Archy said as he pointed to the corridor leading to the vault they are here to crack, then the two sneakily walked through the corridor, Archy on right and Rose to the left, Rose saw a shadow and ducked for a cover before warning Archy who frooze in place as he heard someone screaming freeze and loading his gun.

"FREEZE!"

Yelled one of the guards, Archy stopped in place and turned around slowly, he caught a glimpse of Rose hiding behind a corner, he smiled at the guard.

"I'm sorry I think I got lost"

There was a smirk on Archy's face, apparently that was the sign for Rose-Raje to move...

tick tock, tick tock, Aislin listened to the clock continued its journey around the dial, as one particular painting caught her eye. It was a Georgia O'Keeffe, the one known as, Green Lines and Pink. Such a beautiful piece, it reminded her of Kittens eyes and of lazy Sunday mornings when her and Kitten would laze around in bed all day and think of nothing, but each other.

Her hand curled up on my chest, my hand in her hair, planning life and its many possibilities. We were but children back then, times have certainly changed, Aislin thought...

A sudden boom echoed all around us and we watched as a man fell to the ground, blood spilling out all around him and specs of it getting on Blue in the process, I curled my lip in disgust as a piece of the mans brains slid from Blues shoes. I counted to three, and kissed the Lady Madonna and rubbed it for luck, before tucking her back into my white shirt. Things were going from bad to worse. I moved from my position on the wall and noted all of the witness, thank God for our concealment's. I raced over to the man down, noting that he was unmoving, I reached him just as his dying breath was released. I watched @Phantoms body for any indication of why this took place and I noticed, his hands balled into tight fists and his body held rigid. There was a story here, I thought. A juicy one.

"He's dead." I announced unnecessarily and walked over to the painting that had caught my eye in the first place, touching it, I wondered how much of an effort would it cost me to pinch it. Too much of one I thought and walked back over to my post. I played out the many possibilities in my head, what to do if A happened or B happened. I wasn't going to the "big house" no way, no how. I would rather die first. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone move from their position on the floor. I sprinted over to him, just as he was about to make a move for Blue's gun. I hit him in the back of his knees and yanked his head back by his hair.

"Now, wasn't that foolish of you, you twit." I nodded his head for him. "And do you think you think you should have done that?" I shook his head for him because, my foolish little captor was too frightened to do so.

I nodded my head over to Blue. "You see my friend Blue over there, I know you just witnessed him blow your friend to smithereens and back and I don't think he would've minded putting a whole in your skull either. I am going to give you this one chance and this one chance only to make up for your mistake. Nod your head if you're in agreement." My captor nodded his head. "That's a good boy." I smiled softly at him. "I want you to go over there to the top of the stairs and tell me what you see and you wont die, got it?" He nodded at his head. "And remember only speak when spoken to or you will find yourself swimming with the fishes." I patted my gun for reassurance and gave his butt a little pat to get him going in the direction that I wanted.

I turned my head assessing the situation, when I heard sirens in the distance.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

Her childhood in Palermo, Sicily, was spent penniless and famished, and she vowed to never be that destitute again.  Even though she wasn’t power hungry, nor did she intend to kill for what she wanted, Rose has come a long way from that shabby dressed little girl.  Sipping her coffee and glancing out the car window, Rose pondered why she felt such a rush of excitement before a big job.  Shaking her head, Rose sighed softly.

She was used to pulling off jobs with ease, but this mission needed to be a success.  The members of the team were chosen based on reputations and skills, and Rose was honored to be side by side with her boss.  She had a fierce loyalty towards him, and her beloved hometown. She wanted to make him and her city proud.  Don Archy spoke quietly as he parked the car.

Hearing Archy use her name in the car, she raised her eyebrow slightly as the smirk appeared.  Her red curls tied back in a simple braid, Rose chuckles softly before placing her lion mask on.  She knew it was obvious why she was called ‘Red’.  She cleared her throat and emphasized his code name.

Black!  Astro might take a nip at you later when he hears that.”

Her mischievous green eyes were still visible, but her breathing sounded gruff through the mask.  Rose’s wardrobe today wasn’t her usual attire, but the occasion called for stealth.  Her Chanel black suit pants were custom made, and paired with a black long sleeve velvet blouse with a rose embroidered on the shoulder.  Despite the cool breeze, it was a tad warm outside in the sun, and nerves mixed with excitement made her antsy to get inside.  With the level of secretiveness needed for this mission, Rose donned  black boots in favor over her usual Oxford heels.

Looking around the Museum entrance, making sure no one was watching, Rose followed closely per Archy’s orders.  Moving down the corridor with the Tommy gun ready in case it was needed, which she hoped it wasn't necessary, Rose felt her heart rate escalate as Archy knocked out the guard.  They struggled to move his body.

“Man!  That guy was heavy.”

After Archy made quick work of the door, she gasped softly as she saw movement, then heard shouting.  Rose mutters softly to herself.

“Damn.”

Archy created a distraction, so she moved in.

“Drop the gun!”

Pressing the Tommy gun to the guard’s back with force, Rose waited until the gun hit the floor before knocking him out.  As they hid his body out of sight,  Archy and Rose heard a gunshot echo down the corridor.  They paused briefly, then quickly headed to the cellar. As they rounded the corner, two Tommy guns were pointed at them.

“Whoa!  Blue!  It’s us.  Sorry we’re late, had a couple stragglers on duty...”

Her attention was caught to the floor, where a pool of blood had formed.  Four people laying face down on the floor quietly crying, fearing for their lives.  Her eyes locked into the young girl’s eyes as she looked up.  Rose knew she must be scared.

“Hey!  What happened here?   No.  No.  Why?”

Rose paced back and forth, shaking her head.  No, no, no this wasn't supposed to happen.

“Let’s just keep our cool here guys.  Nobody else needs to die okay.”

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

A shot fired. A dead hostage. Sirens heard off in the distance becoming louder and louder. Five mobsters inside a museum looking for hidden loot. All in it together, yet with their own agendas. One nervously keeping watch, waiting for the exit door to pop open with her crew members bursting out so they can all get the fuck out of there. Ambitious, gutsy, deadly, Philadelphian mobsters; in the midst of an organized crime.

It was now well into the infamous 'Philly Art Gallery Pinch' and they still hadn't yet retrieved the Diamonds, let alone begun working on the safe. Hostages were found and one bit a bullet as Blue in the sheep mask squeezed out a personal vendetta. It seemed the victim was just in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

Was the shot necessary? Would it bring unnecessary attention to the group and be their downfall? Could they still pull this thing off and all make it out safely and without ending up behind bars? Would the sirens come too soon and their efforts be little too late? These questions and many others trickled through Scarfo's mind as he sat off in the distance trying to keep tabs on the job at hand.

A wooden bench in the centre of Fairmont Park is where the Philly Don had made himself comfortable. Seated, watching, waiting. Scarfo toyed with the cuffs of his white button down dress shirt, making sure they felt aligned and slightly protruded beyond the wrists of the single breasted black woollen suit jacket with grey chalk pinstripes. A black fedora with matching black band kept the sun from his eyes, sitting slightly tilted to the left upon his head. He was a little antsy, to say the least.

Nerves were present yet they always were to some degree. Sometimes they sprouted into violent bouts of anger and other times they kept him present in the moment, extra aware of his surroundings. Scarfo had a violent past and wasn't against showing his true feelings, even if they scorched the world around him. Today though his emotions kept him lively. No need for resentment. Not yet.

The park was mostly quiet. Scarfo kept tabs on an elderly couple sitting on a park bench toward the Cedar building. They would throw bits of stale bread to a group of birds that had piled in around them to join the bread crumb feast. A hobo slept on another park bench over the other side of the park, close to the main Mount Pleasant building of the Museum. People were mainly active in and around the exhibit opening, until the sirens turned into more than just a distant sound.

A cop car roared into sight and then another, rushing to the building the job was going down in. Soon enough four police cars had attended the scene and officers began piling out. Most took immediate cover amongst the grouping of vehicles whilst a single offer jogged toward the main entrance, gun drawn.

Scarfo felt the energy shift in his body. What began as a heightened sense of things was shifting into resentment. Scarfo didn't like authority figures. He would gladly see them drop before his own men. It went back to his childhood and the many run-ins with 'badges'. Scarfo personally believed in integrity and loyalty. He felt they were corrupt; nothing more than someone's puppet to get shit done and joined the ranks of the highest bidder. He despised what they stood for and the resentment grew with every encounter.

Scarfo stayed seated on the bench stroking his silk grey tie, internally brewing, as things heated up and the job continued...

Tony Capazzo stood there. He stood there and watched. What was suppose to be a simplistic in and out stealthy heist was turning into a total cluster fuck, the reality was this was a nightmare being unveiled. They had gotten down to the cellar but now the group of people, turned hostages, all put a dent on what was in the midst of a flawless plan.

Phantom had shot someone dead. Tony felt this was the right move, people needed to know they were serious so no one would stick out there chest and try to be a hero. All the major players were in the room. The sirens were getting loud and Tony knew they didn't have much time.

"We have to get the fuck outta here! Let's get the stuff and go, PINK, will be waiting on us outside."

Tony yelled across the room, normally the charismatic, calm, cool and collected type however on this occasion he was a different person. Tony knew time was of the essence and from the beginning through this entire heist he continuously reminded everyone of how sensitive the time issue was. This wasn't his first stroll in the park. He'd done this many times and knew the ins and outs. He knew what was the right course of action and nothing was more important then the time factor.

He once again yelled for everyone to get going.

"We need to go now...now...now, with or without what we came here for. I will be DAMNED if we are going to get pinched today, let's pick this up!"

Tony made motions with his hands to double it up. Everyone was still trying to analyze what had just taken place. Everyone began talking over each other.

"Okay let's just make a run for it." One of the gangsters said.

"We have to get the stuff first!" Another bellowed.

"I think we should let these hostages go, no more killing." A group member said.

The group began to debate whether or not to take the hostages, to let them go or a combination of both. Tony shook his head. 'Who the fuck cares about the hostages, let's get our diamonds and get out' he thought in his head. The group went over back and forth what would be the best solution regarding the hostages as the said hostages intently listened on in fear.

Tony listened as the back and forth continued with everyone giving their input, with each word inside the cellar the sirens got closer and louder. Back and forth they went into the discussion about the hostages. Finally the blood rushed in Tony's head, it reached a hot boiling point.

SHOTS FIRED!

Multiple shots were fired by the Don from South Philly. He had decided to take matters into his own hands gunning down each and every hostage. It was a bold move and perhaps not the smartest but he couldn't afford to delay any further. Some of Philly's finest were in this room and he preferred dead hostages over dead Philly men and woman or ones in jail for that matter. That was just how things went. Tony looked up and proclaimed to everyone.

"...Hostage situation solved...next?"

Report Post Tip

Phantom was feeling no remorse for what he had done. He had settled his personal vendetta and got a slight satisfaction out of it. Phantom had gotten a bit bloodthirsty after killing the first hostage but he didn’t want to kill again without the rest of the group’s permission. The police and guards surely heard where the gunshot originated from. They would be here in no time. Questions were being thrown around the room. Everything was beginning to get chaotic. What do we do next? Abandon the job? Get the diamonds? Kill or spare the hostages? Phantom pondered over what to do. His mind began to spin with all the concentration.

Phantom was lost in thought when the first bullet left from TonyCapazzo’s gun and the noise echoed around the room. It wasn't until all the hostages were killed, that what just happened actual registered in Phantom’s mind. His jaw dropped. He was shocked and stunned to what had simply happened although his emotions and face expression was hidden behind his white sheep mask. He stayed completely still and silent but despite this his heart was beating like a drum. Phantom knew that Tony wanted everyone to get out safe and sound, Phantom definitely wanted the same and he was positive that everyone down in the cellar did too.

Phantom couldn't really judge TonyCapazzo’s actions as Phantom had basically done the same ten minutes prior. Strangely Phantom admired what TonyCapazzo had done. He showed courage and bravery in order to save everyone down here. Phantom would have done the same in order to save everyone from jail, or worse death. Phantom stared at the ground where the five hostages laid dead, blood continued to pour out off their lifeless bodies. A few seconds had passed since the hostage’s death and TonyCapazzo then coldly said.

"...Hostage situation solved...next?"

Phantom as usual tried to make the best out of a bad situation. He stepped forward nervously and voiced his opinion.

“A pretty bad ass line Green. I like it! Okay what is next? The cops are definitely only a few minutes away, tops. The guards must be closing in also. So, we need to act fast. Black do you think that you could crack that safe swiftly? We get the diamonds and get the hell out of here, everyone alive and well.”

Phantom smiled in an attempt to lift up the spirits of the group.

“I’m going to the top of stairs now and look out. I don’t want to be obstructing this hallway and it is already very narrow. If anyone wants to give me company feel free!”

As Phantom walked he noticed the blood from the first hostage was still on his brown leather shoes. As he closely analysed the rest of his clothing Phantom realized that he got his new suit dirty. Despite the current situation that Phantom was in he was still annoyed at getting his grey suit dirty. Phantom slowly walked up the stairs with his gun held tightly by his side, he pulled a cigarette from his blazer pocket and he begun to smoke it. Could this be the last time he’d ever smoke a cigarette? Or could he be smoking his next behind bars? Phantom hated to think like this, it wasn't like him to think so negatively. Phantom peeked around the corner, he seen no one but heard footsteps reverberate from a small distance away.

Archy smiled as Rose-Raje knocked the guard out, he couldn't be less confident that she would take care of the situation swiftly, he moved on with her as they met the rest of the guys at the end of the corridor and two tommyguns were pointed at them, Archy pushed the gun away, as he noticed a dead body surrounded by huge pool of blood.

"Put it the fuck down, what's up with you people?"

Archy put his bag down near the safe, he opened the zip and started getting his tools out, a stethoscope, a hammer and piece of explosives... That man doesn't seem right on the mind... However, in the background a lot of noise could be heard, anxiety could be felt in the air as everyone started talking, Archy had more important task on hand that he decided to ignore the noise and get ready with the tools only to be interrupted by a sequence of shots, he ducks at first then turns to see that TonyCapazzo had killed all the hostages. Archy's eyes widened, as he up and held TonyCapazzo from his hand, holding his tommygun.

"Come on Green, we don't need this. You just burnt all our play cards. Let me take care of this here..."

Archy got back on his knees intending to start working on the safe, but the noise didn't stop, the sirens grew loader, the police had already arrived, the number of sirens kept increasing... Archy thought to himself

"This is not gonna end out swiftly."

He then turned to TonyCapazzo

"Why don't you take Blue with you and wait at the front door, wait for my signal to get out and meet up with Pink outside. I'll try to give you a window to escape the place and meet up later at the safe house."

Archy smiled as Tony nodded to him and motioned to Phantom to follow, he then put on the stethoscope and got to work, he started slowly rotating the wheel, a tick could be heard, rotating it the other direction, another tick was heard, now for the last one, Archy got anxious as he moved the wheel again, long time and nothing still... Archy started getting worried, thinking he has done something wrong as his mind drifted with thoughts, the final tick was heard. Archy smiled as he<font color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)"> opened the safe and smiled </font>widely<font color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)"> as he saw five small jewelry bags, he pulled them and pulled the strings open, he unfolded the diamonds onto his palms, they sparkled in the dim light of the room. Archy grinned evilly and put the bags inside his pocket, he put his tools back into his bag and zipped it up, then got up getting ready to leave.</font>

"Okay, let's get going. Same way we came, we are gonna walk out off the back door, and hopefully have a chance to get into our ride and create a distraction for Green and Blue to get out"

"You first"

He said as he nodded at Red and then followed her, he followed her, with his Browning HighPower in hand, a lot of action was expected before them, would they make it out safely, more thoughts started flying through his head, as Rose took the turn for the corridor and walked to the door, her hands reached for the knob to open the door, Archy stopped her and pulled her to the corner as he saw the knob already moving, he pointed to Aislin to hide too, they waited a few seconds, the door opened and hid Archy with Rose, Archy waited as two policemen walked inside and made sure no one else was following, he slowly pushed the door close and nodded at Aislin to move too then walked slowly towards one of the cops and pushed the cold steel of his gun to the back of his skull, as Aislin did the same to the other.

"Drop your guns"

Archy said quietly, as the two men followed the orders, they were surprised by a hit on the back of each one's head causing them to lose conscious.

"Let's keep our nerves calm and this is going to work out smoothly."

Archy then pulled the door open and peaked in to make sure no one else was there, he swiftly moved up the stairs and motioned for his companions to follow, they walked their last few steps before they reached the back door they came from. Archy took a deep breath, behind this door, lies their freedom or the jails bars. Archy turned to Rose and Aislin.

"This is our chance and we are gonna get through this, I promise you."

Archy reloaded his gun and waited as the two loaded their tommyguns too.

"Red, cover us till we get in car, then White will cover you to get in, once you're in we will have to get the fuck out of here as soon as possible. Lots of gun fire will happen then, we will create a window for Green and Blue to get out and meet with Pink to get out of here. Good luck ladies!"

Archy smiled as he slowly opened the door and stood with his back to the wall, checking the other side outside, he then nodded at Rose to walk out. The car was just there, a few steps came between them and their freedom. It was time for Action now. Rose walked in and started some heavy fire at the cop car on the right, the cops ducked and Archy motioned to Aislin to move, she opened the driver door and crawled inside to the passenger seat, Archy then followed and sat on his driver seat, he put his bag in the back and started the engine, it was Aislin's turn now to cover Rose, Aislin got out of the window started some more heavy fire towards the cops, as Archy opened the back door for Rose to hop in, once in, Archy drove the car quickly to the back, he hit the police car with the trunk, then speedily drove forwarded towards the gate, Rose and Aislin were busy reloading their tommyguns, once Archy moved forwarded towards the gate, they could see like five police cars blocking their way and a cops aiming at them, Archy hit the pedal to the ground as the two pointed their guns out of the windows and started shooting at those cops, Archy made his way through two cars blocking the way to the gate, they finally made it out, but it wasn't over yet, the sirens didn't stop, some cars were still following them....

"Speedup Black, they are catching up"

Said Aislin trying to push on Archy to drive forward, Archy looked through the mirror that had Astro's picture on a necklace dangling off it. Archy knew he had to get through this for his friend, he drove faster as he went through the street to a square, he find himself in front of The Fairmont park, he rotated around the square and noticed Scarfo sat at the bench, he smiled and winked at Scarfo, as he rotated around the square one more time, waiting for Scarfo to move....

BAAAAANG

"What the fuck was that?" yelled Aislin as the smoke covered everywhere around them,

"Don't worry, that's our distraction"

Archy said trying to comfort her as the smoke covered them, he then drifted to the right, into a less crowded street the smoke began to fade but he kept on his speed taking another left then right till they ended up on a byway among the fields, Archy then slowed down as he checked the rear-view mirror and made sure no one was still following and turned to both ladies.

"Good job today ladies, despite the bloodshed and the cops, we did manage to work this smoothly."

Archy then lit a cigarette and offered the ladies one each, as he drove slowly through the fields to the safe house.

The noise of the sirens, were a constant and almost deafening sound in everyone's ears, as things were going from bad to worse. What could go wrong, absolutely did go wrong. The heavies were gaining on us and we were losing ground, Aislin thought to herself.

Knocking that heavy out and watching as Black got the Diamonds was an exhilarating experience, but the stairs were proving to be the most difficult part of this ordeal.

“Shit, Ar-Black, these stairs are a killer.” Aislin said as she huffed and puffed, but managed to make it up them. I really don’t get paid enough for this shit, Aislin thought. She crossed herself three times and prayed to the Virgin Mary, that if she were to get out of this, she promised that she would be at Mass the following Sunday. She knew as Black gave orders, that whatever lay beyond that door was either freedom or certain death, at least for her. The “Big House” was not in the cards for her, of that she was certain.

Aislin schooled her breathing this was not the time for freak outs, things had to be taken care of. She took a deep breath, smiled and took a look at both of her companions, Black and Red and decided right then and there, that nobody was going to jail today. That she would do whatever it took to make sure that everyone was safe and sound in their beds tonight.

Black took a step forward, just as Red opened fire, bullets rained down on the cops and all that could be seen was the heavies running for cover and that was Aislin's cue to move. Aislin began to count in her head, one-one thousand, two-one thousand, by twelve-one thousand she was at the car, with Black following close behind.

Aislin, made her way over to passenger side and rankled her nose at the smell of gunpowder, as it assaulted her senses. Aislin wanted those heavies dead, they disrupted the routine and had made a mess of her suit, it was full of blood, dirt and other things upon which she could not outright identify and that was cause alone for them to die. Aislin leaned out the window and opened fire on the heavies, laughing maniacally while doing so. Red finally made it to the car and sparing Red a quick glance, Aislin judged her to be fine, as Black pressed the “pedal to the metal”.

Aislin couldn't say that the ride was one of the smoothest she had ever been on, but it was one of the quickest. As Black managed to hit everything in sight, nearly knocking Aislin out in process, as her head skidded off the window.  She looked up from reloading her gun and noticed that there were five police cars right in front of them, blocking their entrance to the gate. So, her and Red leaned out the window and opened fire on them, scattering them like roaches. They finally made it out, but could tell things were far from over because, there were quite a few heavies still following close behind.

“Speed up Black, they are catching up!” Aislin, said. Wanting to get out of there and quick, before things got any worse. They  were now in, The Fairmont Park and had noticed simultaneously that Scarfo was sitting at a bench, “What the hell is he doing there?” Aislin said to no one in particular.

BAAAAANG

“What the fuck was that?” Aislin said rather loudly while covering her ears as smoke began to disburse all around. Archy leaned over and patted Aislin’s knee saying, “Don’t worry, that’s our distraction.” Aislin shrugged. Well, it could be worse. We could all be dead, she thought. Archy continued to drive, maintaining his speed because, after all they weren't sure that they had really got away. They ended up in some random field. The coast was clear it seemed and Aislin could feel the adrenaline catching up with her. She began to laugh, it was funny no doubt. Everything that could go wrong, absolutely did go wrong. Archy turned to Aislin and Rose, "Good job today ladies, despite the bloodshed and the cops, we did manage to work this smoothly." And handed each one, one of Cubans finest, as he drove slowly to the safe house. Aislin kicked up her feet, inhaled smoothly on the cigar and thought, eh, it could’ve been worse.

Karmen couldn't relax.. It was pretty much impossible, because she was (of course) fearing the worst. She had heard so many gun shots in the last ten minutes. She was imagining a war inside, and a blood bath, and her fellow Philly people dying. The image of blood splattering against the walls just wouldn't leave her mind, and it was making her hyperventilate again. To calm herself down, she breathed deep through her nose and breathed out through her mouth. The image was so clear she could almost smell the coppery odor of the blood on her inhale. She hoped it was the other way around though. She hoped the guards were the ones spilling their blood and taking their last breaths..

She was pretty sure that Green was on the inside trying to rush everything along so that the job would be completed in a timely manner, because that's just how he was with these types of jobs, but she thought to herself, This sure isn't going very quickly.. I hope no one is dead.. Or dying.. Or bleeding.. Or going to jail... or... ugh I need to stop these thoughts!

Karmen shook her head to try to get rid of the grotesque images she was seeing when cop car after cop car starting piling into the parking lot. She dipped her head low so that she was hid by the car door, and peeked her eyes over to watch through her panda mask. The cops parked their cars in both of the exits of Mount Pleasant, creating a vehicle barricade. She knew for a fact that would make it just a little more difficult to get out of the parking lot, but she trusted her driving skills.

Just as she started getting freaked out about the cops, she saw Black's vehicle speeding towards the cop barricade on the other side of the building. She celebrated to herself at the realization of Archy and his women, red and white, escaping the building. But, that left Green and Blue inside the building still..

She thought to herself, How would they get out exactly? Should she create a distraction? Or did Black create one already and it just hadn't happened yet?

She wanted to scream aloud at the crazy thoughts but she didn't want to draw any unwanted attention to herself, sitting in a car with a panda mask on. That already looked suspicious enough! Just when she was beginning to get more and more worried, there was a loud BAAAANNNGGG in the distance, and smoke started to surround the building and everyone around it.

The smoke left a weird taste in her mouth, so she closed it and breathed through her nose. It burned her nostrils but she figured it was better than tasting it! Through the smoke, Karmen saw the door opening that Green and Blue went into. She smiled huge as they came running outside towards her vehicle. They opened the doors and jumped inside, slamming the doors and telling her, "Step on it, Pink! Get a move on it! We only have a few seconds of distraction to get away from here!"

Karmen felt a surge of adrenaline rush through her body as she put the car in gear (it had been on the whole time, she realized). She placed her hands on the cold steering wheel, reversed the car out of the parking space, and then sped through the smoke and through the space between the cop cars that was left by Archy's vehicle just moments before. Turning the car right, Karmen watched in the rear view mirror as the cops starting pulling out of the parking lot to chase them down the street. She turned right again at the next corner and sped up on the straight road, only slowing down to make the next left turn.

The tires of her vehicle were kicking up rocks and dirt so thick that she couldn't really see anything behind them, but she knew the cops were still back there. She could hear their loud sirens. They were relentless in their hunt, but she knew she could out-drive them. As soon as she was far away from the cops, she would drive to the safe house to meet Black, Red and White, but until then, she would just drive for as long as it took.

"Did you guys get the diamonds?!" She asked Blue and Green. She smiled big and laughed out loud when they said they did and that Archy had them with him.

"Thank God!" She said ecstatically, keeping her eyes on the road and her ears on the slowly fading police sirens. "I'm glad none of you guys were hurt! And, I think we'll all be able to avoid jail if I can get away from these cops completely! They're pretty far away now, but I just want to make sure they won't be able to find us again!"

Karmen took a quick right turn down an alleyway, then took a left at the exit of it. She sped up again down the straight road, and noticed a field to the right of the vehicle. There was a slight trail of dust in the air up ahead, and she quickly realized that she had somehow basically managed to take the same way Archy did.

She continued driving the same direction, hoping she would soon get them to the safe house, and get to see the diamonds. She breathed in, then exhaled again as all of the fear and frustration and stress went out the window.

"Great job guys! You had me very, very worried though!" She said to them with a smile on her face. She reached over and patted Green on the shoulder as they coasted down the road towards safety.

Report Post Tip

Shots fired!  Rose froze where she stood in horror as she witnessed TonyCapazzo shoot the remaining hostages.

"NO!!  Green!! Why?!?! "

'Hostage situation solved'?  She knows she shouldn't care for these people.  Hell Rose didn't even know them, but the young girl was close in age to Rose when she had first landed on these shores, and it tore at her heart to see a young life taken away.  Sure Rose wasn't much older now, but this life has a way of making one mature fast.

Taking a very deep breath, Rose focused on what was important.  Her boss, the job, and her fellow Mafiosi getting out of her alive.

"Alright Black let's get the diamonds.  Time is running out, and we won't hear the end of it if we fail."

Rose knew they would be the laughing stock of Philly if they failed, and got pinched, but she was determined to not let that happen. Somehow she worked better under pressure, even though the stress was getting to them, but the rush of excitement and the unknown is what kept her going.  The sirens echoing outside, getting louder as the cops got closer, had Rose anxiously pacing back and forth next to her boss as he worked on the safe.

Phantom and Tony had made their way to the front to wait for our signal.  Rose turned as she heard the last click, and watched Archy remove the little black bags.  Her smile was hidden behind the Lion mask, but her excited 'Yes!' was heard.  Smiling in return as he poured a few diamonds into his hands, and Archy tilted his hand allowing the diamonds to sparkle.  Quickly replacing the gems in the bags, the three of them, Aislin, Archy and Rose, made their way to the back entrance, with her tommy gun leading the way down the dimly lit corridor.

Almost there!  Rose reached for the door handle then froze as Archy pulled her back.

"Wha...?"

Archy silenced her and shook his head.  Pointing to the moving doorknob, Archy and Rose leaned back in the shadows.  Aislin was completely hidden on the other side of the doorway.  Two guards entered within seconds, and Rose was ready to shoot if necessary.  They weren't going to jail.  As Archy pushed the door shut, he nodded to Aislin, then they moved in quickly.  Surprised by the feel of cold steel at their necks followed by Archy's voice advising them to drop their guns, the two guards never had a chance to speak or move as Archy and Aislin knocked them out cold.  Rose admired the quick moves.

"Nice work guys!"

Archy reassured us all that we will make it out of here before he headed to the back door.  He reloaded his Browning HighPower, as Aislin and Rose followed suit with their tommy guns.  Archy gave his pocket with the diamonds a quick pat, and grabbed his bag then reached for the doorknob.  After they made it clear on the exit strategy, Rose waited in her position as Archy opened the door.

Opening fire towards the damn coppers, she smiled as they jumped behind their cars in fear of their lives, as Archy and Aislin headed to the safety of the car, Rose mumbled softly as she smirked.

"Take that you scum!  We ain't going to jail.  Not today."

Sighing with relief as Archy and Aislin made it safely in the car, Rose kept firing until Aislin leaned out of the car to cover Rose's  exit.  The cops got off a few rounds before diving behind their doors once more when Aislin began shooting, and Rose made quick work getting to the car. Archy had the back door open and waiting, so all she had to do was jump in.  Slamming the door, Aislin was still shooting as Rose shouted.

"Go! Go! Go!  I'm in!"

Up ahead was a barricade made of cop cars, but Aislin and Rose leaned out the windows simultaneously then both began shooting.  The wretched coppers began taking cover like the sissies they were.  All talk and no action.  Aislin and Rose jumped back inside the car as Archy barreled on through the barricade with speed and force.

"Woo! What a rush!  Keep going.  There's more coming."

Rose reached for the black bag Archy threw in the back seat, and reloaded her tommy gun.  She placed another magazine in the front seat for Aislin, so she can reload as well.  Aislin settled in her seat to reload her tommy gun, as Rose snagged hers and leaned back out the window.  She opened fire as Archy sped up.  Rose glanced out the back window.  Damnit the cops were gaining on us. No, no, no!

Rose settled back in her seat and grabbed the black bag once more, unzipped the pocket, and removed two Mk 2 grenades.  Beautiful. Rose leaned out the window as Aislin shouted to speed up.  With her tommy gun in the seat still, Rose removed a pin from the first Mk 2 grenade and threw it towards the cop cars chasing us.  She didn't think she needed the second grenade, because her aim was impeccable, but grabbed an extra to be on the safe side.

Seconds later.....Nothing.  The cops were still gaining on us.  Damn.

"Dammit!!  Damn dud!"

She quickly removed the pin from the second grenade, chunking it out the window in the same direction.

Seconds later.   A smile crossed her face as a loud BAAAAANG filled the air followed by a huge cloud of smoke.  The cop car in the middle was flipped over, as the lead car was twisted around and around.  The third and trailing cars screeched to a stop to avoid the crash.

Rose smiled with satisfaction at the sight, just as Aislin shouted in surprise.  Archy smirked, and merely stated, "Don't worry, that's our distraction."  Rose finally began to relax in the back seat as Archy drove them to the safe house.

"Hey Pink was close behind us.  I think they took a wrong turn."

Archy shook his head, and said Karmen was helping us to get away with the goods,  in case we were still being followed, and would meet up with us later.  Rose had confidence in each and everyone of her partners.  She knew Karmen's driving skill rivaled very few because she was just that damn good.  Rose laughed softly as she realized they could all remove their masks.

As they drove for a while, Rose reflected back on the job today.  Things could have been handled differently sure, and lives could have been saved, but would they have succeeded in this mission without losing one of their own, or anyone of them pinched?  Rose thought back to that young girl, and felt sad.  She knew that was a hard thing to get over, but the fact that her family was alive and well is what mattered most....oh and they got the diamonds.  Mission success!

Closing her eyes and imagined the celebration at the safe house, Rose smiled softly.

The scenes that followed the initial shooting were like something out of a movie, at least that's how Scarfo saw it all unfold from the relatively comfortable wooden bench in the park between the two buildings of the Museum. With his gaze firmly on the building of interest for the Philly Six, he caught the end of it with his own eyes all as it unfolded. It was surreal, and the action had him question whether he should've still been in the park as things didn't just heat up nearby, they fuckn exploded.

More internal gunfire could be heard externally, and this caused Scarfo to tick over in concern. Had the cops come in guns blazing, that he didn't notice? Were they already on their way out, and making it through some tough resistance? Nothing else could really come to mind, as he figured it was one or the other, however, the news he found out regarding the shots later did shock him, as well as many others the country over.

After dashing from the building, three of the crew burst out with a volley of machine gun fire directed at the cops who had taken up position in the back car park, whilst also dodging returning revolver fire. A little fine directing on Archy's part had himself, Aislin and Rose-Raje all rampaging out through the blockade, with the sound of more bullets clearing the way.

Scarfo sat motionless in the park, not really believing what he was experiencing. The adrenaline coursing through his body had him stuck to his seat, the very edge, and as more than just a bystander. He was emotionally and monetarily invested in the job at hand. He wasn't just a spectator, or even an over zealous supporter. His colours weren't specific to a team, but encompassed all the names that the crew took on as aliases. The team didn't have one mascot, but was every one of the animals their masks represented. He was more than invested, he was responsible for them. Like the manager with his own job and reputation on the line, and he watched on from the sidelines as bullets continued to tear up the area.

The first car smashed through the police blockade and with it took out the back gate of the Mount Pleasant building. Cops ducked out of the way and some got plain lit up from the rampant machine gunning that gave the crew that little edge, against the handgun reeling police force. Scarfo watched on as the same car spun through the park's square directly in front of him.

Meanwhile Karmen had now busted through the empty space left by Archy's crew, and with TonyCapazzo and Phantom were headed off in another direction. Archy though, was heading straight for Scarfo. Things seemed to slow down, as if they were going in slow motion. Scafo felt like he was witnessing things in front of a massive cinema screen, yet in three dimensional picture, as if he was really part of the action. What a greatly terrifying way to see a movie, he thought.

Archy gave a wink as he whirled around the square another time before a loud BAAAAANG smashed his eardrums and smoke began to engulf the area. In response Scarfo instinctively threw himself from the seat and ducked for cover, placing his hands over his head and getting as close to the ground as possible. Things were now a little too close for comfort, and Scarfo thought he could've been a little further back from things. Even though he did like to be involved as much as possible, he felt he may just be in a little too much danger.

After feeling like things were safer, Scarfo had a peek before sitting up and dusting at his trousers. His fedora was in close proximity, yet he left it be for the moment. A smile stretched across his face as he kicked his legs out and lay back on the grass, looking up at the sky oblivious to the sirens and activity continuing around him. He felt like a little kid, thinking he had won a prize. He felt the same as he did when he would win a boxing fight as an amateur, back in his boxing days. All the hard work of the crew looked like it had paid off.

Scarfo's thoughts then turned to worry, as he began questioning whether everyone as out and they were fine. With anxiety present, he pushed himself up, got to his feet and scooped up his fedora. He planted it firmly on his head and pulled downwards on the stiff brim whilst walking at pace through the park, the surrounding sirens and police activity, as well as civilians rushing to see what the hell was happening, back in full effect. His next stop would be the safe house.

With the job itself now complete, the aftermath was one that hit headlines from city to city, making the front page country wide. 'Philadelphia Art Gallery Pinch' was what hit the front page of the biggest tabloid in the city of Philadelphia. Hostages massacred. Guards alive, maybe involved. A safe opened yet no-one announcing what was taken. It was a shock to the city, yet not completely out of the ordinary in the days of gangsters and mob wars.

The thing that stuck out though was the innocents murdered and the guards left alive to be haunted by their inability to save them. It was reported that at least two later took their own lives, as they just couldn't live with themselves and the constant accusations of being connected.

The city never forgot and a memorial plaque was built a year later in Fairmont Park for the hostages, guards and police that all lost their lives due to the events. A plaque that Scarfo would visit in later years, the same year his own life was cut short from a barrage of bullets outside his Philadelphia Mansion.

Some lost a lot that day, and some gained a lot also. One thing's for sure, only those that were there could truly say they knew what exactly went down in one of the cities bloodiest organized crimes; those involved and the various stories they told that lived on after them.
