Just One More Roll Started by: Mara on May 10, '15 02:26

Earlier today I had gotten lucky. No, not in the kind of lucky you are currently thinking of. I happened to win in dice amongst some friends. It was a small win but it was a win. What do wins do? They leave you feeling good and wanting more. So here I was feeling great about my win. In fact I was fingering the money I had won when a close friend started to tell me about a small big stakes dice game.

Was I interested? Of course I was. So I got whatever money that I had not given up to tribute to Tyrion and headed to the St Louis casino for this game. Why St Louis? It was neutral territory. Less chance of people from crime families around the big six cities. It wasn't a huge game by any means. I mean after all I am not much for gambling. Normally...

So here I was standing in my hotel room looking at the full length mirror. I brushed the hair off of my face. Straightening the long black dress in the front before grabbing a small snatch purse to place my money in. Lastly I grabbed my hotel key and the invite to the dice game. I went on my way from the hotel to the casino.

I already arranged to go through a side door. I was not a big fan of crowds and the dice game was held in the back room. Sergio slid the door  open from the kitchen entrance and I slipped through. I was escorted by a lovely man named George to the game.

Once I slipped into the room I took notice of who was there. Freddy, Frank, Paul and Ollie. A small game it would be.

"Good evening boys."

I smiled politely and took my chair. Quickly ordering a rum and coke before the games began.

Ollie started the game off with small bets which soon grew. Soon there was a decided winner with most of the money in front of them. Ollie was gathering quite the purse. I however was running out of chips fast. I had enough for two more games.

"Why don't you take your money and leave Mara?" Freddy suggested.

"Not a chance. Just one more roll." I said.

Soon the roll had ended and once more my money was dwindling. Freddy looked at me expectantly. I did my best to put a smile on my face.

"Just one more roll."  I muttered.

Watching as the dice rolled once more and the last bit of my money was gone. I opened my purse to check what money I had left. Just enough for a cab but I wanted just one more roll.

"Okay. One more roll. If I win this I get three times the amount. If you win, I will give your crewleader your tribute for the next month. You can keep what you make in that month."

I bargained before and I know what I was offering was too good to be true. While no one doubted i could make the money the fact was they wouldn't have to. So Ollie jumped on my offer. The bet was placed.

The dice began to tumble on the table. We all watched silently. My eyes intently boring into the table. It was the most intense minute of my life that night.

It felt like it took forever. Then it was done.

I had won.

I sighed with relief as I was given my money. Tossing it into my purse as I stood up.

"Always a pleasure. Maybe some other time?"

I left the question hanging in the hair as I strolled out of the room and out of the casino.
