Spring into Corruption Started by: Spring on May 28, '15 23:39

It had began as a very quiet day for Spring. She wasn't sure what it was she wanted to do that day. Did she want to go out for lunch? Dinner? She could go shopping. She knew there was lots of things she could shop for but it was just one of those days that Spring couldn't decide exactly what she would do. So she skipped off down the street to see where her day would take her.

As soon as Spring came to the local part she slowed down. She could see the flowers starting to bloom and was soon moving towards them. She could get lost in her own thoughts with the flowers surrounding her. Fear may not be overly impressed she was wasting good business time but they were just so pretty.

Picking one of the flowers from the group Spring traced her fingers over the petals. This particular flower was purple and she gazed over it. She was thinking about taking painting classes to capture the beauty she saw every day. Suddenly there was a tap on her shoulder and she heard a soft "Ma'am" from what sounded like a child so she turned around. She thought perhaps he had dropped his ball and needed some help finding it.

This young lad couldn't have been more than eight years old. He was holding an envelope that she could see had her name on it. He quickly shoved it into her hands and took off running. Holding the envelope she looked around to see where this might have come from. Not spotting anything out of the ordinary she opened the envelope. She took out a folded piece of paper and began to read.

"Dearest Spring,

It has been a month since we made our arrangement. It is time for me to move into retirement as I age.

Good luck in your business.

Sincerely,
chojnacki"

Spring crumpled up the paper in her hand. She ripped it into little shreds and put some of the pieces in one of the local garbage bins and walked along the street to the next garbage bin and tossed it in. Spring was a bit annoyed but she didn't let it show on her features. Instead she headed home to change and decide her course of action.

At home she was left to decide if she wanted to just let chojnacki retire and live a life of peace or if she should be rid of him for good. As she got dressed in a pretty purple dress she had she knew what it was she was going to do. He knew too much and she couldn't risk him telling anyone about what he knew.

Spring left the hotel and began to make her way to the west side of Corktown. She tapped lightly on his door and waited for him to answer.

"Good evening," she said. Spring held up a bottle of champagne out of her bag. "Thought we could celebrate your retirement."

"Sounds great."

He let her through the door and she headed towards the kitchen to grab some glasses. She had been in this house far too much in their business association and knew where everything was. Taking both the glasses she separated them apart. Listening carefully she heard chojnacki in the living room so she hurriedly placed a generous amount of poison made from Doll's eyes. A friend of hers was great with flowers and always made ways for Spring to use poison from them.

Smiling she poured the champagne and brought the glasses out to the living room. They sat and chatted for the evening. Each time the drinks needed refilling it was Spring who did it so she could give more of the Doll's eyes to the man.

"Going anywhere exciting once you are officially retired?" Spring asked.

"Maybe to Miami or Savannah. I have got some friends there."

"Oh that sounds lovely. What is it like there?"

He went on to talk about the weather there. The friends he had and the good times he shared with them. He suspected nothing. Once the champagne was gone, Spring got up from the couch.

"This has been lovely. I wish you the best of luck on your adventures."

Spring slipped out the door and into the night. She headed towards the hotel and the comfort of her own bed. It didn't take long for Spring to recognize that chojnacki was feeling the side effect of the poison and she knew that being back at the hotel would be the smartest thing.

Falling asleep almost immediately as she walked through the door. She was awoken a few hours earlier by a knock on the door. One of her bodyguards was admitting a police officer into the room. She nodded gravely as she was informed that her business partner had died in his sleep. They weren't going to look into it too much as he was aging and the wife didn't seem to want to dig deeper.

Smart woman, Spring thought. She had never met the woman but this was the best idea she had heard of the woman doing. As she let the officer out of the room. She went straight to bed. She had no further worries to hassle her sleep this night.
