Just an Observation Started by: Chun_Li on Jul 02, '15 05:23

I've noticed going into many businesses in the BD that the prices in some of the businesses don't reflect the times or era we're operating in.

I've gone into some shops in various coffee shops, and restraunts paid as much as 2.00 for a cup of coffee while the actual price of a cup of coffee in a 1930's era coffee shop, a bottle of coke, or a donut was between 5 cents. Some of he markets and pizza joints in various cities have prices that reflect more on today's prices than the 1930's era..

I've noticed some patrons of the coffee shops talk about technology that didn't exist in the 1930's, such as cellphones and flat screen tv's..those didnt exist then did they?

This falls under the jurisdiction of the staff to clean the threads and the leaders and role models to teach people about the era we are playing in. This topic has been brought up over and over again.

Most people are not informed that it is an era specific game or just don't give a fuck because they see it in older threads.

Teach the new people under you and they will learn.

Also, in relation to prices advertised in role play business threads consider the fact that no one ran around in the 1930s with millions of dollars and hundreds of bodyguards. So a nickel could be worth fifty bucks given the difference in the value of the currency in the real world back then and the currency in our imaginary world here.

Lol, Just lol. Won't put a smiley there... (Coz it would be a loud laugh)

It seems to me not many actually take the time to research historic prices or even care to be accurate in the role plays they do anymore, Some peoples entire characters are based on things or items that didn't exist in the 1930's

for the most part those new to the game who don't take time to research enough on the site itself and just learn from the streets and businesses would probably have no idea this is even an era only based game, so Chun_Li I completely understand and agree with your frustration on this situation,

That being said there is really nothing that can be done about it, there will always be those who just don't care to be accurate, those who want to have flat screen tvs and cell phone, or drugs that didn't exist during that era along with pricing things way to high, all we can do is keep our facts correct in what we do and suck it up, we have all seen things don't really change around here very much.

In relation to pricing, the way I see it is these businesses are run by people in the various Mafia families, they're mostly fronts for other operations. The prices don't necessarily have to appeal to the public, if they're claiming they sell the best whiskey in town at $50 a shot, then that's their way of laundering their ill-gotten spoils, ya know?

I don't think you can apply the logic of a nickle was worth so much, for the same reason. We're meant to be rich, we've built empires running dirty schemes, we have the cash to throw down hundreds of dollars in tips. We're not socialising with the common man on the street in these businesses. They're meant to be for the rich, the influential, the scandalous, for the mobs to launder cash, or get rid of items, quickly.
