As it stands, the only way you're able to get rid of a business, or a thread for that matter, is to either ask someone from City Hall to bulldoze it, or have it inactive for a certain period of time so that city hall will bulldoze it for cluttering up the city - my suggestion, as the title states, is to give the city head, (Godfather, in this case, as giving over a blank title of city head can be tricky if there's an entire city run only by Dons or Consiglieres) and his or her's respective right and left hands the ability to do what they see fit with the business for a price. None of these figures are set in stone whatsoever, if only to provide an example.

The other abilities granted to city hall only relate to moving it in another district, which I'd see as irrelevant in this case as you're a Godfather over only a single city, but I do believe that the Godfather has earned his right to control his city as he sees fit, considering he is already important enough to take a share of the city's crime profits, and it puts more power into the hands of the users itself, without relying on City Hall to clean up the mess others leave behind in our cities.

I fully support this.

In the past, the only argument I've heard against this is "we don't want to give users the ability to get rid of any experience and hard work gained by posting". But if there is a Godfather that abuses this new ability, the other cities will surely deal with him or her.

I don't see any negative to this, as Kates said, if it's abused the offender can be dealt with. From the RP perspective, a Godfather could well go on a bit of a rampage with regards to clamping down on businesses in his city. Like most things, as long as he can handle the consequences, I see no reason why it shouldn't be a function and it cuts out any admin intervention in trying to police user initiatives.

Considering Los Angeles failed attempts at extortion over the past couple of days... This would have come in extremely handy.

Can't see any down side to it being implemented.

I seem to remember that when the MRSE was first introduced, it lead to a few issues with deleated business threads. As a result, a majority were being locked rather than deleted. It might be as simple as removing the ability to delete threads and instead restrict it to locking/stickying.

From a RP pov, I'm still not sure how much 'control' this will end up giving. If a thread is locked, it's possible that the owner will simply reopen a new business next door. If we ever reach the stage where 'admin tools' are required in order for us to police/manage our cities effectively, it's a sad state of affairs imho.

Having said that, I do believe that this one has the potential for far more benefits than negatives. Our city leads (be it godfathers or highest ranking [exp points] consig/don) do deserve to have more control of our cities, so if this one can lead to some creative ventures, I'm all for it.

I believe there should be a cost involved when opening a business. When the MRSE comes back, it would fit perfectly. When someone opens a business, they would pay a fee, determined by the Godfather/Mother. Then they could buy stock in their own business and earn money off of it. It would give Godfather/Mothers even more control over their city as well as deepen the business district and stop spam business threads.

I think that this is a good idea. After all, in real life, do you really think that the leader of a crime family doesn't care what businesses he has? There are certain things the mafia aren't going to want to touch.

Besides, it is the godfather/godmother's city. They should have control over it.
