How can someone achieve the gun they want when people die at 60 days?

I'm sure the dozen or so players that have died and no w/s is found have.

People do what they can to survive. 

These 'rogues', as they are, don't want to shoot 'innocent' people, but it hurts the leaders in the short and long run.

WOW!  For a moment I thought I was going to have my character killed for playing a game called MAFIA (read brutal murderers!) RETURNS for 60 days.  Thank goodness it's not yet been 60 days yet.  I guess that means I have a little more time to sit around clicking buttons all by myself earning imaginary money because we all know that's the only reason I joined a game like this but... hey... hey, wait just a second... maybe the point of the game is to shoot at people and have them shoot back at you... do you think?  

And ... wait... wait a second... killing folks BEFORE they get powerful, that's an actual tactic?  

WELL, GEE WHIZ, FUCK IT ALL!  

All this time I thought this was happy bunny play time!  These assholes won't let me get powerful and take a "FAIR" shot at them.  That's it... I quit this STUPID game, it's not what it use to be AT ALL!!!!  Why the hell should I play this game if the leaders of the MAFIA (again read as BRUTAL MURDERERS) won't play nice and let me have a fair shot at destroying their evil empire they might have spent YEARS building?!?  

That's it!  When my character is wacked, I'm making another who is the daughter of my current character and then I'm coming back as loudly as possible to tell everyone how the game use to be better, how it's totally unfair, that it's mismanaged by the guys who run it and that it all is going to hell.  Then I'll post an open thread inviting everyone to join me in going rogue!  I'm sure I'll be hugely successful in taking out all the people that killed me the first time.  That will show 'em!

ps:  The above is sarcasm.  In case it was missed.

pss:  Alright.  I'll stop being an ass.  In all fairness...

I feel for everyone who has put time into a character and lost it.  Especially if you spent real world money on the game.  But it IS  like going into a casino.  Only spend what you want to spend to have fun this moment... because the next you're luck will run out.  

Also - I know it seems like a lot of folks are talking about how much they hate the current leaders (that's most of the posts on the boards it seems... but I suspect due to the fact that folks who like to live keep their mouths shut and do their plotting in the shadows.)

If the majority of the game TRULY wanted to topple the regime as it stands, they could do so.  All it would take is some organization among the majority of players who allegedly want to topple the regime.  It's a numbers game boys and girls.  Most click based games are.  Get the numbers.  

Once you have the numbers you need to find someone in the current regime you can flip.  Look for the guy who is sick of playing second fiddle and who is dumb enough to think being the top dog would be an improvement on their second or third place seat at the table.  BOOM! hostile take over.  

The trouble is, from the outside you appear so badly disorganized (and so vocal about your hatred of the current leadership) that you can't live long enough to organize OR convince someone at the top to flip.  From the cheap seats (and probably more so from the top) the rogues look so flimsy that I can't imagine this ever working (unless someone does get a lucky shot, but that may result in more chaos than anyone even realizes.)

My advice (stripping away all my shitty sarcasm) is this:  get your ducks in a line and do so quietly OFF the boards.  That's the only way a takeover is probably going to happen.  But, also, realize you're shoot craps here.  Chances are good there will be a lot more failures before anyone hits the jackpot.

psss:  My last post script (which are now longer than my sarcastic rant)  If you're one of the people sitting here thinking "that's too long of a post, I'm not gonna read that" then you're probably not going to be the person who builds the team that can take out a Godfather.  Why?  Because, to build a team that will actually be successful in growing and protecting your ass once you do get to the top... it takes a lot of reading posts (maybe especially the long ones), emails, and chat logs to help you get to know people and build the relationships that I think would be necessary to be successful.  But hell... what do I know?  In the words of another poster, I'm still fresh off the boat.  Feel free to scroll on to the next witty poster.

You think folks care if they die on a fucking game? Get over yourself. What people care about is being unable to play the game. Part of the game is to try and rise to the top, if your OWN family allows you die and does so simply because they dont want to rock the apple cart, then thats a poor show. If it was one or two people then you could understand there just being a few folks pissed off, but there are numerous people killed for no reason other than who they are behind the computer.

You can laugh that this is the mafia and people should expect to die, but your simply trying to kiss some ass and stick up for the guys on top as if their tactics aren't deplorable. They are. Its the tactics of cowards.

However, you are right on one part. It is still part of the game. They are still well within their rights to use such methods to remain on top and people shouldn't be surprised at them doing it. After all, they want to remain up there and the easiest way to do that is eliminate all threats before they are a threat - but dont expect those then affected by these choices to sit back and go oh well shit happens, eventually enough people will get pissed off at their friends and family being killed and will rise up and remove those in power. It happens every single time and its just a matter of time will it happen to this group.

Hell, many of the people in the current group have helped before to topple other regimes due to similar circumstances, so its not like they will be unaware that their actions are going to cause people to hate them. They simply dont care. To their credit they view it as a game and couldn't give a fuck if John/Bob/Billy in New York/Texas/Arkansas or whatever is pissed off that his character died. They'll never meet them and never really give a single fuck about them so why should them being pissed off bother these guys? It wont.

I think dying is part of the game.

Let me explain why.

Its because the same players come back again and again with new characters, but with the same grudges.  Oh sure, some folks suggest they put the experiences of the last character behind them... but I doubt that strongly because they choose to play the son or daughter of their previous character.  Also, we're only human so it's unrealistic to expect someone not to still be butthurt if they feel they got screwed over.

So... if you figure the fact that DEATH is part of the game, rather than the end of it, you start to view things differently.  You begin to realize that kissing the right ring at the right moment MATTERS.  And NO ONE trusts you.  Right now my higher ups are reading my words and are wondering what day they need to wack me for fear I might get too close.  My job, in the game, is to show them I have more value alive than the risk of keeping me so.

How you do that is on you.  THAT, not the clicks, credits, fake money, or the stats, is the real game.

That's one way to view it.  Another way to view it is this:  You looked too ambitious for what your family was ready to take on and they had to look the otherway when you were culled by folks your family didn't have the power to take on.  It probably sucked, because if you had played your cards different and everyone was on a page, then maybe it would have gone differently.  Trust me, no one in this game WANTS to lose folks.  It doesn't help your crew leader if you're a good shooter or earner and you get aced.  No one up top wants that.  BUT, if you're more of a liability than you are a boon, they do what they gotta.

I'd say you're right.  I am always posting in a manner that I hope will further my game.  If you're not doing so, which of us is really doing it right?  Is it really a cowards way to know what you're capable of and not overshoot your abilities?  Is it a cowards way to remain loyal to those who look out for you until that relationship is no longer mutually beneficial?  I'm not going to go rogue at 23 days, nor at 60.  That would be stupid.  Ask me in a year or three, after I've built up relationships and connections in game how I feel about that... even if I've lost LuckyLucy, that doesn't mean the game is over.  It just means I have to learn from what I did wrong and do it better.

Let me ask you a question EuronGreyjoy and I open it to anyone really...

What do you think one gains from becoming top dog that makes it so damn desirable exactly?  

If you're willing to acknowledge that other people have pulled the same stunts they pull to keep their power... why won't the next guy?  Isn't the "we're the noble ones!" really just a rally cry for another tyrannt to take the seat?

Let's be honest, the game is in the streets.  What Disorder and his men have to do right now, I can't imagine it's fun.  Oh sure they have limitless funds from taxes and they get to "make the rules" but crap... what do you do then?

Have you ever sat around the chat with nothing to do on the site?  Now imagine you didn't need to work for your money... what the hell makes this any fun at all then?  Surly it's not the wealth of friends and fans you make.  I'm pretty sure Godfather is a typically loathed man by the vocal masses.

See, and there's the difference.  I didn't come to MR to compete for Godfather.  I came here to play a mobster, because that's the fun part... and if the rogues were taking a moment to take stock, I think they'd realize that playing the opressed rebels with nothing to lose is fun too.  And ideallly that's why my crew leader and godfather won't ever order a shot on me.  People like me not only know our place... but we like it.  We know it's where the game happens.

But, please, tell me what I'm failing to realize that makes Godfather a position so awesome that it's worth all this drama.  I want to know what fun I clearly don't realize I'm missing out on.

I also wanted to add, I really shouldn't have opened my first post with a big sarcastic bunch of BS.  I realize how condescending and belittling that is and my point (which I hope was valid) is lost in it because it was clearly insulting.  I'm sorry for calling anyone who is involved with this 'stupid' even via implication.  It was not cool of me.

Exactly what I was going to say. Everybody knows JoeKing is notoriously poor, how could he ever protect himself against these mysterious rogues if he angers them?
