"I will not stand for this insult. None of my boys took the crates. We got 176 of them  and we delivered 176 to the warehouse. So don't you dare accuse me of stealing. It must have been one of you slimy buggers who made off with them." bellowed Jack the union leader.

"Impossible! I checked the logs myself before shipping them. There were 186 crates sealed , smuggled and handed over to your boys at the dock. You probably stole the crates yourself, you dishonest bastard. Better start talking before I knock your lying teeth right outta your mouth." replied Phil the Coast Guard Captain.

As the two of them and their mates shouted insults and threats at one another, Husky sighed and thought about all that had happened in the past few weeks. Since the whiskey job, THE FORT WAYNE WHISKEY HEIST the papers had called it, he had started being more careful. While setting up the crew bar, The Rebel's Retreat he had realized that he needed to find a less precarious way of procuring Canadian Whiskey.  It had taken a lot of work and a lot of money, to setup this operation.  The Coast Guard provided a steady supply of whiskey every week  from Canada and the local dockworkers union delivered it to a warehouse in Black Bottom. From there it was a simple matter of finding the right people to offload it to. He had been making asking around discreetly looking for the right buyer. He'd found one. A foxy young broad who ran a local establishment called Swango's. Husky planned on heading out there to see if she was interested.

The reason this operation worked so well was because Husky knew how to grease the right people . A few dollars here, a few whispers there. Everyone was paid and everyone was happy. Until now.
This week's delivery was 10 crates light. The Union blamed the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard blamed the Union. Things had escalated to the point where a physical altercation was inevitable. He told the crew he was not worried about the crates. If the broad from Swango's came through he could recover the loss in a couple of weeks. No, what Husky said he was worried about was a death at the docks and the attention it would bring. Regardless of who died, both parties would harbour bad blood. Not to mention the cops would be swarming all over this place. The operation would effectively be a bust.

"Enough!" shouted Husky as all eyes turned to him. "Look at yourselves! You're acting like a bunch of kids squabbling in the park. I'll find the damn crates myself and whoever stole them will pay."

"To hell with the crates! And to hell with you! My father built this dock. I will not stand here and be insulted by a glorified security guard." shouted Jack to a chorus of angry Dockworkers. "I'll take you on anytime you lying piece of shit." came the reply from Phil as he and the other Coast Guard members started picking up crowbars and hammers. Husky realized he did not have the clout to scare both parties into submission but he could not very well just sit idle and watch his golden egg laying goose jump into a barbeque in front of his eyes. His backup, Frank nervously put his palm on his holster , waiting. This could end up into a full blown riot. He seemed desperate, and desperate times called for desperate measures.

"Oi ! Listen to me you dumb bastards. You think your honour's been sullied?" Husky shouted. "Aye!" came the reply from Jack.
"You think your name has been wronged?" Husky asked. "Aye!" came the reply this time from Phil.
"Do you want to knock him out of his shoes?" he enquired. "Aye!" they both shouted back.
"Do the rest of you think they should settle this like men?" he asked looking around at the gathered crowd. "Aye!" they shouted back. He was careful not to smile even though he knew he had them then.
"I can't hear you !" he said trying to pump them up more. "Aye !" came the deafening roar.

Jack took off his shirt, Phil unbuttoned his uniform as the crowd gathered around in a circle.
"No biting . No eye-gouging. No kicking . And if any of you tries to interfere I'll shoot him myself. Frank! Get over here and do something useful. If a guy falls down and Frank counts to 10 he loses. " he said grabbing Frank by the collar and dragging the confused guy in . "You ready?" he asked the two of them while walking to the edge of the circle. "Go nuts." he said signalling the start of the fight after they both nodded.

But he wasn't done.  Not sparing a second look at the fight he took off his soot stained fedora , held it in his hand and started collecting bets from the Union guys and the Coast guys alike. Soon enough he realized it did not matter who won, he would still make half as much as he would have from the entire shipment of 186 crates. "That's right , 186." he chuckled to himself. He would have to remember to bring back the 10 crates he had hidden when he came up with this insane plan.
"I just gotta make sure no one ever finds out or I'll be sleeping with the fishes"  he thought to himself.

And just like that, Husky had another profitable business on the way.
