Just want to see if others ever feel like I do, because if so, this might be something that should become a suggestion to the site admins.  

I realized this today as I finally joined an IC thread in another city's business district forum.  Here's the issue:  Either I have to wait 6 hours to bounce between my RP scenes on various boards, OR I have to pay $2 Million to take a private flight just to check if MAYBE someone has replied (and, unless they tag me, I have no idea if I'm just throwing that cash away.)  

The six hour wait isn't such a big deal until you realize that multiple people in the same scene might have to coordinate their time delays, or what should be a fast scene taking a day or two to write, turns in to a weeks long drudge and the scene dies before going anywhere.

For some of you, shelling out two million to take a private flight every few hours might not seem too big a problem but sadly for us broke noobs, it's a real turn off to wanting to rp with folks in other cities AND when you consider the limited number of people on the site who are into RP, that's devastating to trying to build up a base of active role-players.

Is there some up-side to those forums not being accessible to everyone all the time like the "streets" board is?  To me, this seems like a major downside (or very limiting) to the site for those of us who are interested in role-playing.

Business districts are the only legit form of RP. Most threads in the streets are character backgrounds, or just plain garbage that no one else can really jump into with things being awkward, or well written posts that no one can jump into because the writer did not leave an opening.Not sure I'm getting your gripe, is it that you have to wait X hours to reply to a thread?

Nevermind, I see what you are suggesting. Having all cities Districts accessible wherever you may be. While I like the possibilities, I think it ruins the 'Hey, I just flew in from wherever, dropped in to check such and such out'

granted, my RP has been nonexistent since about 4 years ago, but, if there were better material (Openings for any Joe Blow to jump in, no matter their writing skill) I'd RP more.

Yea, and at first I saw the charm of only being able to rp in the city your character was actually in BUT, that being said, RP seldom happens in real time.  A scene that takes one day might take a week to write.  So it seems really harsh to require that people are in a given city in order to finish writing the scene that happened while they were there.

For example:  Yesterday I flew into Detroit before I went off to work.  My toon stayed there all day, I didn't fly her back to Vegas until almost time for bed.  In truth she could have done a lot in that time but I only made two posts to detroit's boards... sadly that did not conclude the scene that was happening (a scene that I should have been able to finish in the course of a full day of being there, but can't now without flying back to do so.)  So I have to pay to go back just to finish the scene (probably several times actually because who wants to stay out of their home city long, AND I have rp threads going here too.)

I can see the issue here. It can tend to stall RP's and even cut them short altogether. Only thing I can think of to suggest is keeping the writing heavy posts and businesses to the city you're mostly in and stay in that city a majority of the time. I tend to hardly fly for this reason and just typically post and engage in RP's in my home city or those only a few hours away. But it also depends on other char's movements too, so planning with others on joint business ventures who also stick locally can help to improve posting speeds. Friendly nudges also help. I also imagine how often and how far does my own char travel anyways? If I'm trying to be realistic, he hardly ever leaves the city and does most business where his crew operates, unless at a higher rank and for specific and preplanned RP sessions with others. But they can also be street worthy too.

In short, I think the current setup can hinder RP, yet it's realistic and with some planning and networking it can become a fun challenge to navigate.
