The Las Vegas Experiment

Four Godfathers decided to populate the empty city of Las Vegas with a member of their respective organisations.  New York decided to send a MadeMan, well know to Deimne, called Richard_Kuklinski.  Without realising it, Deimne had started a chapter in the history of this thing of ours.  The other people who set up crews in Las Vegas were the now unfamiliar names; Prinny_Fabulous, Mystery and Kerrrupt.  The announcement detailing this can be read here.  It is generally accepted now that RK was the best qualified of the four, an astute political operator, public speaker and ruthless tactician.

Bloody beginings

Things did not go well in Las Vegas from the start.  Prinny_Fabulous engaged in the type of behaviour that at the time was deemed absolutely unacceptable.  RK was abroad when this news broke, otherwise he would have dealt with the problem personally.  However, as it was, Las Vegas did what he would have wanted and took care of it.  This incident can be read about here.  Far more important than this incident was the growing problem that RK found himself with.  Deimne was a wise, wise man but made an unusual tactical mistake when he sent two ‘men’ to go to Las Vegas with RK.  They were to learn from him, in the hope that they could one day emulate his unparralled success.  They were Captian_Kirk (sic) and Mortius and they were RK’s RH and LH, by decree from New York.  Unfortunately, both men instead of taking advantage of an opportunity to learn from the very best, instead initiated a coup attempt.  Swift, brutal and bloody action from RK resulted in two impressive notches on his gun and both men being buried in the Nevada desert.  Kirk’s lover, Spock, went to the streets and spoke of his heartache and disdain for RK.  His lovestruck words can be read here.  It was at this point that RK appointed Richard_Roma as his RHM and the Las Vegas Costello Faction, named after a legendary distant relative, was born.

More trouble in Las Vegas

In a chilling sign of things to come, Las Vegas erupted into civil war.  Mystery and his family La Casa Dei Misteri were wiped out by Kerrrupt, with expert help and guidance from RK and the LVCF.  This incident is dealt with here.  In an incident that shocked even the battle hardened and vastly experienced RK, newly appointed Godfather Kerrrupt shot himself, in an incident described here, in RK’s own words.

The de facto Godfather of Las Vegas

RK was now in charge of Las Vegas, the youngest ever head of a city and also the lowest ranked city head ever seen in this thing of ours.  It is a testament to RK that neither of these things were a challenge, as he set about building the city in his own image.  The LVCF expanded, as members from all over flocked to Las Vegas to check out the new businesses and pop into the LVCF HQ.  Godfather of NY, Deimne, was always particularly welcomed, and RK enjoyed good relations with him and many other NY luminaires, including Tyrion and Gaius.  There were some in the other 7 cities who said that RK’s Auth’d by Deimne tattoo was to deter would be assassins and that it wasn’t strictly true.  To this RK simply pointed out that it was a nice tattoo.  So devoted to Deimne and NY was RK, that the tattoo stayed until Deimne and NY fell, some time later, whereupon RK covered it up quickly.  Lots of friendly banter between NY and RK ensued, Tyrion at one point pretending to be angry and shouting at RK “YOU RANK LIKE A SNAIL!  THAT’S ONE OF YOUR MANY PROBLEMS!” RK chuckled in the coffee shop as Tyrion continued shouting, wondering what the other people standing about thought of their friendship.  The GWARBLE BARBLE ran a story about RK, which can be seen here.

Within the LVCF, RK continued to revolutionise inter crew relations and restructured the LVCF.  At one stage, he introduced the controversial practise of ‘drop and kill’.  This new way of dealing with inactive members involved RK dropping the IA from his crew, then shooting him in the head and leaving his body unclaimed.  Some influential NY members objected to this new practise and let it be known, Tyrion inviting RK into the coffee shops and again joking about RK getting killed over it!

RK opens a casino!

RK decided to improve the financial state of Las Vegas by opening a casino, Las Vegas being the traditional home of gaming.  RK was again thinking outside the box and discussed his plans with friend and ally from NY Gaius.  Gaius and RK were close friends, until Gaius was shot and killed fairly recently.  Breaking new ground, RK proposed a loan from Gaius, which would be paid back with interest (perhaps as a direct result of RK’s idea, Gaius went on to start a successful loan business).  With $30M ready, RK purchased and opened the Costello Faction Casino to a rapturous reception.  RK made one of the silly but insignificant errors he became known for when he accidently bought SLOTS when he meant to buy BLACKJACK!!!!  The opening of the casino was announced by RK here and was discussed in the prestigious Gwarble Barble which can be seen here.

I had read of some of these things in my fathers journal (GRHS). But some of the early parts were missing. I am very thankful to you Mr kuklinski for filling in these gaps for me. I hope that part 2 will contain some more revelations that my father forgot to note.

He did find your father's ability in the streets to have been a welcome breath of fresh air. Such effort to making a voice is to be admired in a world that has been far to quiet as of late.

Save for the report of gunfire our streets have been subjected to in the past week...

I don't think there is any sane minded person that could read the first post above and think that Richard_Kuklinski was anything other than an expert crew leader, tactician, and lots of other good things on top of that as well - I for one am nearly apoplectic with excitement to read the next installment  - apart from Dieme there has hardly been a crew leader like RK that has completely turned this thing of ours on its head and said 'hey I know ther are rules but you now what I'll just do my own thing anyway'.

To me RK stands for tearing up the rulebook re-writing it and then going nah - no need for it anyway.

From my personal experience within the crew I know that RK was strict but fair. He may well have made one or two mistakes but when you copmare that to his revolutionary new approach to crew organisation these mistakes are more like sonwflakes landing on a hot tin roof - am desperately exctied to see the next installment of this intruging biography - I know the skill and intricate knowledge of the game mechanics just deepens from this point on - roll on part two!

MR. kuklinski. while i do not have a problem with your stating of the way things went with your first hands, i would request that you not insult captain_kirk with waht is obviously a homphobic attempt to make him look bad. kirk's relationship with spock was nothing of the sort and your attempt to make it out as such is an insult to the memories of kirk, though your father did not like him.

Spock and Kirk's devotion to each other was strong, akin to love.  I'd add that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, what-so-ever, and that my father would have been deeply offended at any hint of homphobia.  Spock and Kirk were described, by Deimne I think, as BFF (best friends forever).  Perhaps this is a better description.

were is the talk of bad decisions and stupid auths taken on your part and a civil war were only a hnd full of gangsters died, and it took an age to resolve.

however, there is also a portion of your fathers records that is inncorrect through no fault of his own. kirk never said anything beyond private statement of opinion of how the LVCF was being run. Mortuis made the initial move to speak to other crew leaders, and before his death, recognized his error in putting kirk's name on the message.

If I found out I had gayers in my crew I would shoot them - homosexuals attract enemy radar.

I am glad you have posted this sunshine. It's nice to know where it all began.

The Gene Genie looks forward to seeing what sort of spin you put on the second installment of this piece of propaganda. I know exactly where you will take that sort of story. But I read my fathers diary and how he describes it. I'll be back with a warrant of truth should it be any different.

I decided to mail a letter to the Editor of this biopic detailing one or two historical inaccuracies in the piece, but so far three forests in Oregan have been felled and I've ran out of paper again; so I might give it up a bad job.

I look forward to seeing hisversion of events on the civil war. Lets hope he doesn't slate my ancestors too badly.

I am perfectly well aware of this. However, if it's an open challenge, those of us who come from lines who were well active when his father was alive, will most likely be able to prove some things false in this.
