Dub roamed the city streets aimlessly; watching the distant traffic lights shift from green to red in their methodical manners. The flashes of lightning from a distant storm peppered the night sky with light and was followed eventually by the lightning's ever-late mistress, thunder. The city was it's typical bustling self: angry drivers arguing from their car windows--both acting tough but both simultaneously knowing should the other step out of their car, they'd leave in a heartbeat to avoid further confrontation; the muddled clash of patrons' conversations broadcasting over airwaves unable to be picked up by a passerby's ears unless they held intent to eavesdrop, and of course, the clanking of glasses from the bars that lined the strip, all of whom sat content in the shadows of the lavish casinos with their flashing neon signs and jazz music that snuck out the doors each time they swung open. The Strip's always done a great job at keeping the poor, classless suckers filtered out. The bustling casinos, bars, restaurants and the like couldn't be bothered by simpletons looking for handouts.

It was known throughout the country, Vegas is where the rich went to lose their money through cheap thrills including, but definitely not limited to drugs, alcohol, women, and, the most popular, gambling. It wasn't rare to see big winners and big losers of the night sitting with each other conversing about their experiences in the casinos. It was all a game. Money; it wasn't anything special to these folk. Only to the casino owners who, despite how many people hit the jackpots in any given night, always seemed to come out on the other end none the worse for wear.

Of course, there was JoeKing's casino that he and Tobias opened in Las Vegas. It had become the talk of the nation over the last few months. They had politicians, foreign ambassadors, criminal masterminds, local sheriffs, and all other sorts of powerful figures that would enter their doors quite regularly. Dub decided he'd stop by and relax in the lobby bar for a few drinks. Dub was tired. He'd been in this life for many years but it's flown by. He swore it had only felt like 113 days.

"Time flies when you're having fun," he thought to himself.

"What are you drinking?" The bartender asked as he pulled out a lighter for Dub to light his cigarette with.

"Nothing too hard, I'm a working man.Dub winked and gave a half-grin to the bartender in a sarcastic way.

"Right, so the whiskey then?"

Dub smiled and pointed at the bartender in approval. The ring of a microphone echoed throughout the lobby bar as a woman stepped on stage. Accompanied by a soft drum beat, a soothing sax, and eloquent piano playing she stepped to the mic and began to sing.

Dub looked over his shoulder towards the direction of the stage just as the bartender sat his drink in front of him. And boy, was she a beauty. A finely poured glass of whiskey; nothing more beautiful. The woman on stage was almost as beautiful though...almost. Dub took his whiskey and turned to watch the performance. He couldn't help but tap his toes to the beat of the song the woman was singing. The longer the song went, the darker the rest of the room got. It felt like she was singing at Dub. A sort of tunnel vision overcame Dub as he watched. Her deep crimson red dress shimmered as it reflected light off of it. Her hair was a dark walnut brown countered by her red lipstick. She shifted her weight from leg to leg in time with the drums as she sang. Even freely grooving to the music as the saxophone player had his few seconds of fame. Her eyes were shut as she spun around slowly letting her arms wave slowly at her side. As she opened her eyes towards Dub's direction, he saw her dark brown eyes that seemed like he could almost peer into her very soul.

Breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.

Dub turned back towards the bartender as she ended her song.

"You haven't paid me.The bartender looked at Dub expectantly.

"Oh, right.Dub reached into his pocket and sat the cash on the bar, "What's the Miss's drink of choice?"

"The gal on stage? She doesn't drink.

Dub choked on his drink for a moment, almost spitting it back into his glass as those words left the bartender's mouth.

He looked back at the bartender in disbelief, "I'm sorry, it sounded like you said she doesn't drink.Dub began to chuckle to himself as he began to lift the drink back up to his mouth.

"Aye, she doesn't. I've never seen her even touch the glass' themselves."

Dub rolls his eyes back into his head as he chugs the whiskey.

"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, I walk into the one whose singer doesn't drink...Dub sets his hat back onto his head and heads for the door before he's stopped by, none other than, the singer.

"Mister, I was wondering if--"

"Let me stop you there, honey, I have one love in my life: Alcohol. There's simply not enough room for another.Dub shuffles past her towards the door.

"...I could buy you a drink."

Dub stopped. Frozen. Completely paralyzed, his legs had betrayed him. His heart began to sway his feelings from what was once Whiskey and Women to...Women who buy him whiskey. He turned over his shoulder.

"You know, I was just saying, 'Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, I walked into yours.'" Dub smiled slyly. Someone was getting duped outta some whiskey tonight, "Bartender!
