| Stop pro wacking | Started by: TastelessGentleman on Sep 07, '17 07:58 |

Well the title says all, but in case some are prepared to understand different I will explain my self. One of the less realistic things that is going on in this game, is that players from same crew, shoot their friends to give them the bonus of the 4h protection. Now, the 4h protection, sure makes sense, as in reality if someone gets shot, they could increase his defence with more BGs, or take him to the hospital to heal and have policemen to guard him. So far the protection makes sense. What is crazy is having your own people shoot you, because in reality that sounds crazy. I am offering only one solution to this, but I am open to discuss other's peoples thoughts. My suggestion is that when someone with a very bad wack skill tries to assassinate someone of higher rank with much better wack skill, the wackback option to increase to like 99%. That for me makes sense, as if I am someone really bad at killing people and I try to wack a mafioso who is very good with gun, the result will be my death. In this way the pro-wacker will have 99% chance to die, so I believe that most people will stop pro wacking. I know we all have benefited from this option many times, but I also remember when I was a noob, and someone was trying to explain me what pro-wacking is, and I was like "Why? -Wth?" Seriously its one of the less realistic options in the game. If someone has another idea how to stop this I would like to hear his opinion. Thanks. |

That effectively eliminates the ability to rogue, or for a small guy to defend himself against an aggressor. (Don insults him in the streets, he should be able to take the shot knowing he will fail most likely, but the game itself shoudln't kill him 99% of the time for defending his own honor) So far, I've yet to find a better replacement to Pro and have resigned to chalk it up as a necessary game mechanic, but keep exploring, maybe the answer is out there. |

Perhaps far fetched and not fully thought through, but why keep the protection time at all? For every other scenario than wanting to rehit an MIA/IA/RIA it could be replaced by a possibility to "dig in". Which would be way more realistic. Say you're allowed to "dig in" for a 4 hour period, but only if you're in your home city. If you le you're no longer 'dug in'. By 'digging in' you double your protection level, at a cost. If you want to shoot someone, you have to 'dig out'. If you leave the city you have to 'dig out'. Once you return home, you can 'dig in' again. Could even make it so that the CL/RH alone has option to 'dig the whole family in', and that this would affect all those currently residing in home city. Would seriously alter the war tactics, but never the less keep an element of tactic in there. |

How about having a missed shot temporarily increase the persons defense (capped at a certain point) -- but still allow shots to go through and the possibility of a 1% This would 'protect' you to a large extent from multiple wack attempts from trained guns, but still leave you open to a lucky shot. It would also mean that a desperate crew that loses their top guns can still all fire at large targets and at least have some chance. I've always agreed that protection shooting is ridiculous RP wise, but I get the reasoning. In this case the RP aspect is a little more preserved. Person is more on-edge having just been shot at and harder to hit, however they would not be immune to an entire city turning their guns on them. It also gives untrained guns something to do in a war, which is always a good idea in my opinion. Short of this, I would still support the older suggestion of having every action in game burn your protection (I think squishy posted that a few weeks ago). |

My worry with your idea is Dr-Alban, what if they shoot then fly home, dig in. Wait til timers are cooled dig out then fly, shoot and return to dig back in off a private all before anyone realises and be back safely. Between the cost of it as a feature and the chance for possible abuse if no cool down on such a feature almost would be my worry for those wealthier or already behind a wall of bodyguards and not equally beneficial especially for the poorer lower ranks. |

How about if you are shot by a member of your own crew you just don't get a pro time? Pro always seemed to me that you were aware that people were after you and you went into hiding/hospital to recover, meaning you were harder to find and kill, that same level of paranoia wouldn't be present if you were shot at by a member of your crew as the CL could simply remove the shooters gun, or HQ them, thereby eliminating the threat.
Sure you could drop members of your crew, to perform Pro shots, but then that leads to the chance that your Proer and protime can be detected,,greatly increasing the chances of you getting shot. |

Or, leave pro shots just the way they are, and war better? I wouldn't be opposed to something like a .05% chance of being able to shoot through a pro though, if people really insist on the need to change it. |

if someone uses the same pro'er maybe it should raise the risk of being killed e.g 1% becomes 2% to 3% depending on the number of pros. |

How about if you think you may be in danger, you can go in to a "Safe House" or barricade your HQ's door's for a time..? The time would be limited then you would have to move, so you would sort of go in to hiding, the people after you would have a limited window in which to get you whilst you move to another district in which to hide, once you have exhausted the district, you move city but if you are not in your own city, you get less time in hiding, especially if it was the person that is after you's city. |

The idea of "safe house" has been again told, I kinda like it, but I think it should have a compensation, for example, A CL realises there is war, and requests a transfer to SafeHouse. (possible to pay with credits?) He gets an 1h/2h protection, but for the 5 next minutes after the 1h, his defence goes to 50%. But still I don't know how without any other change people will choose a safe house, from a pro shot
Another thing I was thinking, is that while I put in my loyalty settings, "take a bullet" this never happened so far. (or i didnt noticed) Maybe if this option was more effective, for example. If a CL gets shot in his HQ (in his home city) If there is a member with "take a bullet" loyalty status, to 100% take that bullet. So, the CL will not get easily pro shots. |

There are few things mentioned here that I like, some that I didnt. However it did make me think about the situation itself and the main pros and cons of a "pro shot". What if a person tried to shoot someone thats pro'd and instead of simply telling you they are pro'd, it lets your shot go through? What I mean by that, is that you actually still make an attempt but in fact you fail purely because this person has already been attacked recently and were on high alert. With this scenario, people can't just always sit back and wait for pro times to end and then fire off their shot. They'd need to constantly be risking things by taking pops at their target. Which could mean another miss, due to their alert status, or it could mean a hit/miss based on the wack/defence of the two players. It adds an element of the unknown to the war scenario as people can no longer be 100% on the status of their targets and would certainly add more suspense to things. Scenario: Player 1 gets attacked by Player 2, but they miss. Protection has now kicked in as the person is on high alert for the next 4hrs. Player 3 then trys to shoot Player 1, instead of an error, his shot simply misses with a new message "Player 1 was on high alert and you missed". Pros: less of the "refreshing" on targets causing there to be more of a skill element involved in the attacks/wars. Cons: People still have the option of getting a "pro" shot. So whilst pro's are still used, i feel this could give the air of the unknown which is somewhat lacking in that aspect of the game. Thoughts anyone?
