Godfather Boost Degredation Started by: JackRoover on Sep 08, '17 23:04

Pre-story

Personally I felt a somewhat negative vibe across the game, without necessarily wanting to contribute that to anyone. While everyone shouted, I witnessed things I hadn't seen before by admin intervention on a whole new level. This is not the place to discuss all that, but it did let to these thoughts.

The train of thoughts
In 120 days, 60 units and presumable through gun- & relationbuilding a character can become Godfather and gain some apparent significant boosts. From an RP perspective, what would support this boost? I'm all for rewarding an achievement, but what do we stool it on... and more so, for how long? If Godfather is the accumulation of hard work, in whatever way, so be it. But wouldn't it be realistic that there are #2, 3, 4... 8's that are eager to ascend to that rank as well, or loyal to their grave, or... well, as long as it keeps me safe and pays the bills type of people? Wouldn't it make sense there's an actual game-mechanic in place for a Godfather to keep his support?

Goal
Add a mechanism that effects the possible longetivity of a Godfather based of the standing in their city, instead of the gap in character-skills.

The idea
Introduce a button, much like the loyalty option for your CL in your profile, that you can click every week, instead of just set to a setting that determines your loyalty and support for your crewleader and GF. Through gathered support of their subordinates this would mean a significant boost for Godfathers. Without the support... well, there's no boost.

Pro's
- Godfather can still be reached to whatever kind of player.
- After working hard for 120 days, a player gets access to significant boosts.
- A player can only get these boosts with support from those who are in their city.
- This gives incentive for players to protect & invest in their city, beyond just a small circle of friends.
- This gives players a chance to react to the decisions of their godfather, without immediately being killed for voicing disagreement
- If a Godfather allows that an external city comes into to kill it's members, the surviving members could react; meaning the Godfather has to choose between possibly losing boosts or allowing another city to determine it's fate.
- Supporting a GF is anonymous so no-one can force anyone.
- Supporting a GF is anonymous, so outside forces can't see what's someone boost is.

Con's
- No idea where to put this button, as it doesn't really feel immersive (maybe an RP message every week?).
- Another one so it doesn't seem there are hardly any cons.
- It would add a social challenge for Godfathers, after they met technical challenges

When
If this would be viable, out of fairness, I wouldn't want to introduce this until atleast a month after announcement.
That way it's effects will be based of a GFs actual standing at that point of activation, instead of introduction, so people have time to work on their standing if necessary.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

This is actually a pretty damn interesting suggestion, I like what you have brought to the table with this.

Report Post Tip

I think you have something with this.. It would make the "community" more important and give more of a balance to the game. You could have a big group of players team up and set it to disloyal or w/e, so it would be easier to remove that gf - cause chaos etc; but I think this is worth looking at.

Love this. +1

Force's some sort of communications between members and leaders. And the voting  would be a great cross check of loyalty. Being a strong or weak GF/CL would then be reflected by the loyalty of entire crew base/members.
