There was, in this world, a regime of pretty much unprecedented power.  Ruthless?  Yes, without question.   

Controversial?  Yes, again, totally without question.

The manner of their departure from this world was unusual.

And yet...  There has not been a single speech from the bloodlines of the regime fallen.

Surely some of the fallen Regime bloodlines are around?  Surely they want to make speeches, discuss things from their perspective?

Are there are descendants of the fallen regime among us?  Make your voices heard!

"Perhaps they've swallowed what happened like real men and a women instead of coming out to cry like babies about it. Not everyone has to make a scene whenever they die you know."

Sylens sighs.. and carries on with his daily routine.

Sylens stands stunned in silence at the inability of BAT to recognise the difference between the male and female gender. Sylens takes the cookie and eats it.

Even if their kin was around and felt the need to express their thoughts, would you expect to witness anything different than from what people saw when the regime was still in full power?

From that group, there were just a handful that cared to engage on the streets regarding their stances. From that scarse few, do you think their children hold any different takes on matters as their parents did? When they engaged they encountered, it hardly led to any constructive dialogue because neither party involved was there to find the truth. Both sides thought they already had the truth and just tried to convince the other, without daring to see the reason in their opponents arguments. There is absolutely no reason to believe this situation would be any better if the kin of the regime would come out today.

I'll admit that I'd be interested to talk with some of them, but rather in a setting were I would know the above would not happen. I know that ever since LarryLongneck mentioned that no-one had reached out to him to ask for protection, and inquire how to go about that, my father was intrigued to try that out. He didn't just to not take chances as Larry's father hadn't really prevented my grandfathers dead, so my father had no reason to think he would be treated differently, without having to suck it up, kiss ass and not train on marksmanship.

I also would've loved to have some talks with the late Disorder. Whatever ones opinion about the man, clearly he was capable in a lot of areas and that alone would make for an interesting conversation partner. During his reign however, I felt that he exercised a demand for respect too vigourously. Often when critical, but respectful questions emerged in public these people were silenced, or disappeared. This created an environment where most Made Men in our society silently fell in line. While that aspect might be what is expected given the hierachical aspect of our society, it is severely undermining the social aspect of our community.

A critical inquiry or a questioning attitude, while remaining respectful can only enrich the society. Lineages like those of LarryLongneck or DanGleeballs have shown that a lot on these streets. With hindsight it's awkwardly funny that those who wielded such power in the recent regime, which I really wasn't a fan of, are actually some of the people that inspired me in the past. But they now contributed to creating an environment in which a lot of the charasteristics they possess themselves weren't freely accepted on the streets.

Ah well. Whatever the case, I do hope some of the people of the regime will find their way back here. We shouldn't dislike their lineages, just the attitude displayed in recent months as it's evident things went darker than before. We simply have a mutual responsibility to prevent things from getting as far as they did. Because in the end, the darkness wasn't just on the regime, it was on everyone that could've made a difference, but didn't, because they didn't dare to go beyond the mediocre and easy ways.

Soon before my fathers death we went to dinner in the North Side of Chicago. A wonderful restaurant, we knew the family that ran it. That's by the by but the conversation I had with my father that night lead me to believe he and some of his friends were tired of being so damn good. They'd been at the top for so very long and had often thought of retiring this life to spend some time with their friends and families. 

I think many saw this as a relief in the end so its not surprising their children aren't out here looking for justice or vengeance. They're probably trying to put a legitimate life together away from all this horrendous law breaking and intimidation. But that's just the impression I got anyway. 

Like, I'm pretty sure they went shopping.
