So yesterday I found out that my 13-14 year old Jack Russell has lung cancer. We are treating her with pain management meds to help her quality of life to be good until the time comes. So, in honor of Ursa - my writing buddy & first fur baby, I thought I'd ask you guys about your pets. Ursa, named for Ursa Major and Minor use to be very confused about her size. She seemed to think she was more of a bear than the tiny pepsi-can-sized puppy I got all those years ago. She's brilliant, super smart, and learns tricks like no one's business. In her youth she could do these mind blowing jumps - as tall as any man. At night, when she was a puppy, I was so worried I'd step on and kill her that we put her in a crate at my bedside so I could put my fingers into her cage and let her lick them. When she got bigger, she moved into my bed and forever into my heart. Of all her tricks, my favorite is "Prairie Dog" where she stands as pictured below, like a prairie dog popping out of it's hole looking for treats. My heart is breaking for my puppy - but mostly for me because I'm a selfish human. So... yea... show me your cute pet pics. I need something to smile about today. In the meantime, I give you Ursa the Awesome: https://www.instagram.com/p/BVUzreWl9U3/ |

I'm sorry to hear this, D. I'm sure your Ursa is well aware of how much she is loved. As a foster failure, and former Humane Society employee and vet tech, I have an embarrassing number of animals. Here are just two:

Funny thing, I've got another cat that does what your dog does...but call it "gophering". XD |

The way your cat is all spread out like that is making me snort my morning beverage through my nose. LOL! Okay that's cute. *hugs* Thanks Nikki. |

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog! I lost a cat a few years back unexpectedly and it was devastating. This is my current pet, Dante, also known as little man or devil child (he's a rascal this one). He's a BIG cat. This is a video of him from awhile back. Before I had filled the shelf with books he liked to sit in it. After I filled it, he decided he still wanted to sit in it. Didn't work out well for him, to say the least lol. https://www.facebook.com/lisamarievargas/videos/vb.2061227/10107973736914121/?type=3 (I think I marked it public so it should work) |

Holy Cat batman. So gangsta, knocking stuff off the shelf like "Yea. Whatcha gonna do. I'm uber cat!" lol. Adorable though. Thanks for your kind words guys. :) We got a new puppy we're helping to meld into the family in the hopes it feels less like replacing Ursa when her time comes. My daughter named her Lizzie. She's also a jack russell. Here's her photo (w/ her human, my kiddo): https://www.instagram.com/p/BZCpVlYlIOK/ |
