Can Flow Started by: PrettySpikeS on Sep 12, '17 23:18

PrettySpikeS goes skipping through the beaches of Lake Michigan looking for various freshwater silly animals to play with. He finds nothing alive, but is amused by an old beer can rolling back and forth against the shore. He talks to this beer can, finding friendship in aluminum.

“Hello, Mr. Can. It seems that you bathe in water happily, but doth it corrode or pit your shell?”

The can does not reply, but continues to roll back and forth. Knocking a pebble on its way back in shoreward, it tilts slightly, but does not get stuck. It moves a bit more southerly as the current draws it back out, and returns to a more perpendicular recurring path, back and forth, about a foot further down the beach, with no pebbles in its way.

“Mr. Can, does the water guide you the best way it can? It would seem to correct your struggles against any obstructions to your path. But what of the wind blowing in your mouth and against your sides?”

The can moves back and forth across the water. It would seem that none of the has gotten inside it yet despite its top being punctured and being in freshwater with less buoyancy. Ever-so-slight oxidation has corrupted its sheen, along with the bright bleaching sun.

“Mr. Can. The wind does guide you surely as well or do you lay your reverence to the water for the wind directs its far mass greater than it does you?”

PrettySpikeS watches a steamboat go by on the water, creating a large ripple towards the beach. His friend, the can, takes a slight dip under the surface as a wall of water, standing a few inches, collides with it. At first, the can returns to the surface, just as the surge of the pernicious wave has passed. However, it begins to totter, each time inundating itself, until it is satiated, submerged, and drawn out into the deep.

PrettySpikeS ponders to himself, “Mr. Can, though you have left the surface, you have become something greater. You may not be Mr. Can any longer, but you are part of a colony of other cans and debris beneath the water. Though the water may eat away at you, and eventually you disintegrate, you act as a base for all that the water carries. Mr. Can your life riding the crests and whitecaps was glorious, but now beneath the water, there is nothing to fear. Anything that happens in the undertow cannot hurt you as you are simply going with the flow.”

PrettySpikeS skips off towards the carcass of some sort of gull further down the beach, soon scouting for a stick.

So why didn't you pull the can out of the water? What if a fish gets stuck in it

MORBO MUST CONCUR WITH PUNY EARTHLING "HYPER."

Morbo finds it very irresponsible of you to leave litter lying in the ocean. Puny Earthlings have damaged their waters far enough already.

While he didn't make it any better Morbo, he didn't make it any worse. He could of added to our problems. Luckily, here in Uganda, people would of swooped in and taken the can to trade in for some Ugandan Dollars, which by the way I think you may of just inherited some of.

George hands Morbo a card which reads "Bank Expert" followed by his mobile number, and wonders off looking for the next person to win the "Cash prize monies"

Was it a can of SpaghettiO's? :D
