Becoming a Made Man - What you should know

 

Welcome to the last of three Tutorials to prepare yourself for this world. Below is information you should know as you approach your promotion to Made Man and becoming a fully realized member of your family.

 

Trust and Respect

Becoming a Made Man is your formal introduction into the family. This means that every action you take is backed by your family. Many Crew Leaders place great emphasis on the promotion to Made Man because they are vouching for you and your character. Trust and Respect is a two way street in Mafia Returns, showing and proving your trust and respect in your family will help your crews upper structure make the decision to promote you to Made Man, which means that they are placing their trust and respect in you. This promotion is no joking matter and is a major decision to be made by your crews leadership. Getting this promotion will unlock many doors for the rest of your life but is also a pledge to your family. Typically a Made Man will stand behind his/her crew leader through feast and famine and is ready to defend their family with their own life.

 

Your role in your family (Financial, Creative, Social, Organizational)

As individuals we all have our strengths and our weaknesses. It will be beneficial to volunteer for any roles in the family in which you already have some experience with. This could be anything from helping to run competitions, thinking of new ideas to get the family engaged, keeping and tracking data, or keeping people active and happy using your outgoing attitude.

Getting past 20 units

If your profile says Level: 20 (21) this means that you have met the experience needed to increase your units. When you click sell on the drug page however you get a notice saying: “Our friend Bill Doyle said they don't know you well enough to vouch for you.” This means you have not greased enough palms yet and need to pay someone off. Here is how to do it:

  • Tipping - A friendly FBN agent will vouch for you to carry more units. There is one FBN agent per city. The only way an FBN agent will be friendly is if you tip him/her money (multiple tips are required per unit, each city keeps count of tips paid separately). It is recommended that you only use one city for this method and return to it when you have enough experience for the next unit.

  • Corrupt Agent - This method involves purchasing a CA for 10 credits. A corrupt agent is a NPC account that is on your payroll. Corrupt Agents provide many benefits and when used correctly are well worth their investment. Simply having a CA on payroll will grant you drug units without the need to tip an FBN agent. Staying safe with Bodyguards

Bodyguards are costly but well worth the hire, training, and upkeep costs. Bodygaurds will increase your defense stat which is considered each time a player attacks you. You can buy and manage bodyguards by accessing Manage -> BG Management.

 

Understanding mechanics and rules

  • Wack Back - A WB is a feature of Wack that results in a Miss + Bad Consequence. For any given shot on a player account, there is a small chance of wackback. There are three types of wackbacks:

    • Gun Loss

    • Jail Time

    • Death

  • Wars - When players go to war you should listen to your upper structure and understand your role and how you can help. The following is information provided publicly to you for understanding of terminology:

    • Requesting Auth - In order to wack an account three ranks above or below yours, a Crew Leader must approve your request for authorization. Request can be made here: https://mafiareturns.com/war/auth.php

    • Pro Shots - Short for protection, this is the act of shooting at an ally whom you have no chance of killing. A player that lives through a wack attempt is granted 4 hours of wack protection ending only if they use their gun or time runs out. In times of war this is used to keep key players alive until they are able to strategize or retaliate.

    • Fortification Protection - It is everyone’s responsibility to contribute to the Head Quarters fortifications until they are are built/repaired in full. During a war, players without adequate bodyguard coverage may be asked to return to their home city/district. Simply being in your home city/district raises your defense to the minimum coverage that your fortifications provide. Fortifications do nothing to players outside of their home city. Players with already high defense from bodyguards will get no advantage from fortifications.

    • Dishonorable Discharge - While death is the outcome of player action, a Dishonorable Discharge is the result of Admin action to a player that has not followed site rules. This is a public shame and will ruin a reputation. Please follow the rules.

    • Rebuild Mode - Occasionally a war will reduce enough Crew Leaders and leave enough players without homes to the point that players are unable to find sponsorship. During this time, unsponsored players will grant no stats when killed.

    • Profile Tatoos - Many profiles are marked with a “tattoo” or crest in the top right above the picture. Hovering over this with your mouse will tell you more about why it is there. The majority of these tattoos are to identify accounts as NPC (non player controlled) or to mark accounts that are brand new or have not verified their email.

    • After Death - When you die you will be unable to communicate or even view the world around you. A message will tell you that you have died, if a player has included a final remark or note, it will be there as well. You will be provided with a link to create a new character. There is nothing more you can do. This will not be reversed.
