It was a dark night. OKay, i lied. The sun was shining and the birds were singing in the skies. Meh, too unbelievable. Bah, what the fuck. Anyways i was just looking through the latest statistics taken from the consensus recently carried out and i saw this guy's statistics. A guy called "Sid". Who? Never heard him? Never seen him? DOnt even know he exists? Meh. But guess what guys, if ever you wanted a kick in the teeth whilst your crewleaders are preaching about street prescence and all this other shit, hes a Consigliere. Yes, you heard me right. Now lets look at his statistics: Name: Sid Rank: Consigliere Bodyguards: Protected Status: Alive Sponsor: Oliver_McTavish Messages Sent: 450 Original Threads: 1 Posts: 20 Intresting, hes created one speech, doubt it's on the streets, and said just a mere 20 things in public in general. Hmm. SO answer me this, how the fuck does a guy like this become a Consigliere? No doubt in me raising this question will probably bring about his first (and last no doubt) piece of street participitation. I'll tell you why. I must confess i don't know what alter egos he may fly under in the coffee shops but i'll bet you anything from $1 to 1 billion$ that he/she are very good coffeeshop friends with Oliver_Mctavish. Ahh, now i've got that off my chest, you can all rant and rave at my low low rank. But, if i say absolutely nothing i may just make it to Consig aswell, providing i join Oliver. While I agree with your point, publically and rudely addressing it in the manner you have is counter productive and will serve no purpose other than getting you killed. You knew that when you came out here I guess. You could easily have started this conversation in far more general terms, a milder tone and got a reasonable debate started. Instead you point fingers and stamp your feet, meaning that all people will care about is how much of a muppet you are being, and not at all about the issues you're raising. Pointless. |

Wouldn't have mattered in the least bit how i addressed these lovely people. Responses would have been a slightly varied version of the same template. "Rank up and do something about it" "Your only a Civilian" "Your going to die" "You suck" ALways the same shit from people who don't have a comeback. So thanks for that imput there Evsie, sincerley noted, and ignored. |

The Captain sees your point...but he doesn't really agree with it, and especially doesn't agree with your way of going about making it known. You feel that Sid should have more of a street presence, for him to be a consigliere. Well you are wrong in this, and I will give you two reasons why. For one, I've always learned its about quality, not quantity. If Sid doesn't have anything meaningful to say, I don't want him out here cluttering the Streets with nonsense. Maybe Sid is the strong silent type, there's nothing wrong with that. Why should he be forced to talk, if he isn't the talkative type? Two, what does his street presence matter for anyway? All that should matter to Mr. McTavish, is Sid's service to him. I'm assuming he's a great earner, and performs whatever tasks Mr. McTavish asks of him. That should be all that he needs to look at when deciding who is deserving of a higher status. Don't get The Captain wrong, there's nothing wrong with a leader making a strong street presence a requirement for movin' on up, but that's for the leader to decide, not the public. |

Evsie, in using the confrontational tone and presentation he will get more attention than he would have through other means. Seeing as he has nothing to lose and nothing to fear then obviously he is going to want to create maximum impact in whatever way he can. On the topic i feel that this isnt really right and is showing the actual importance of coffeeshops in our world. However there is only one person who can really justify this so i will wait for their reasoning before copming to a conclusion. |

Perhaps if you saw how much Sid does for Olivers family, then you may understand why he has got the Consig badge. Also I think a handwritten letter to Oliver or Sid would have been better than this speech. |

I have two things to say First of all,: meaning that all people will care about is how much of a muppet you are being,. PLEASE do not insult muppets, they are kind, cuddly, fuzzy and special creatures that have a long history in This Thing of Ours. Secondly Denny Crane (Crane with a "C") concurs with his eminent and loquacious peer, the esteemed Mr a1 (not Al) capon3. Denny has been slowly acquiring a taste for The (not Morgan) Capitan and wishes him a long life. |

I have to say that even the strong silent types say more than that.. However who are any of us to judge who is worthy or not of any kind of promotion when it doesn't concern our family? JasperRazmani hopes that Sid will choose to speak up more from now on but will not hold his breath. I do hope that if I ever reach that lofty rank I will have said more and effected more people, opinions and situations than Sid but I realize that is an easy thing to say firstly, and secondly I may never get there. |

Well, well, what a boring place this world would be if we were all the same. All Consigs, were perfect speakers, perfect contributors to society, perfect earners, excellent donators etc etc, get the idea? Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, no one has yet created this super race of clones, therefore each person promoted is judged thankfully on their own merit, their own actions, their own past performances, whether in public or in the privacy of HQ by the promoter in question. In this instance it is Oliver you are questioning. And because of this uniqueness of each and everyone of us, you may never get to know just exactly why him or I or anybody else earned and received their promotions, the fact that they did is all you need to know. |

It seems as if just about everything can be a controversy this day and age. Tomorrow I will go kick a few children in the teeth and set an orphanage on fire, as I'm sure it will be much more receptive than my promotion of my esteemed crew member Sid. Yet, moving onto a point that is far less comical and more productive in the current circumstances, you sit here and tell me that an individual who has sat in my headquarters for going on... what now Sid, three months busting his ass off at every step of the way does not deserve a promotion because he doesn't sit out here and hand out flyers about the same recycled subjects we all reuse? Well hell, if I had known each and every promotion that happened within my own Chicago doors was subject for criticism, perhaps I should've been passing them all by you first, FAILboat? And no, if you must know, not each and every person who attains higher ranks in my family is a 'coffeeshop friend' as you so proclaim. Is it really all that strange that people actually get rewarded for all they do in this day and age? People constantly preach and bitch that people do not get promoted anymore because they are not 'best friends' with the Boss- and then the second one of them does, everyone turns around and jumps onto the other side of the argument. For the love of sammiches, just pick a fucking side and stop the constant moaning. Furthermore, how is this promotion any different than any of the other button promotions I have given the man? Why were there not angry protestors lining the streets when I gave him any of the aforementioned raise in ranks? Ahhhh, of course, because Consigliere is rare, because it's a rank that only few now hold in the United States. Because of these reasons there will be more scrutiny, and in my opinion that's just a load of codswallop. (And yes, I just fucking said codswallop.) Now, going into the specifics of mine and Sid's business relationship- this is a man who I have actually had this 'coffeeshop friends' debate with back in the earlier days of our family regarding promotions. What a laugh to see that we would one day be accused of something similar. To insinuate that one of the greatest crew members I could have ever asked for, who has selflessly earned millions upon millions for the family, who has on more than one occasion helped me out of a jam with some in-headquarters paperwork and who has shown nothing but loyalty and devotion to myself and Badass Inc. got to where he is today through ass-kissing is just an insult to the world that we live in, FAILboat. (And boy, was that one hell of a run on sentence.) This is the Mafia, my friends. You don't always need to be swannying about the streets spiting fancy words and 'phat rhymes'. There are many, many more aspects of this crime life that people can excel in, and to me Sid has exceeded expectations everywhere else. Hell, we can auth a crew leader with no original street debates under their belt, but God-forbid someone get promoted and recognized within their own crew. What the fuck has this world come to? Poppycock. Piffle. And, I really only said those last two things because I told someone I would. |

i think Mr McTavish hit the nail on the head there "get promoted and recognized within their own crew." I feel this is arguably the most important thing you can do....and also like he mentioned the streets are becomming littered with recycled garbish hence why we saw writing competitions etc, but that is getting side tracked my advice from this lonely thug for all the newcomers - "get promoted and recognized within their own crew" before shouting your mouth out here! |

The reasons why we promote the members of our family are none of your goddamn business. You are a civilian and hold no weight in this world. Stay out of matters that don't concern you. As my boss said, we have our reasons for the promotion. I hardly know Sid's coffee shop personality (other than his affinity for the word "arse"). I do, however, know Sid to be exceptionally loyal to the family, which is something I value a lot more than someone's ability or desire to ramble on in the streets. I'd continue, but really, our business is our business and I won't be bringing any more of it to the streets just to appease whomever. |

Why do we even come out and grace speakers like this anymore? Why do we appease there mind that people actually care about there ramblings? Its more of this My daddy died so I will come out here an tarnish his bloodline...BUT WAIT, I am incog no one will know its me, let me look for the first person I can rant about an try to open the public eye to something no one really cares about. There's a lot of speeches that are recycled. Frankly, I enjoy reading the negative as much as I enjoy hearing the constant "kudos" given. This gives our world depth and shows that we all don't think alike, nor should we. Now, is there a better way to present this? Possibly. Possibly not. In any case, we know what this man's fate will be. He's sealed it, and I'm guessing he knew of it before he spoke. If you can live up to the consequences, I don't see any harm in differing opinions, even if I don't personally agree with them. |
