Journey to the New Lands Started by: ViolettaOrsini on Sep 17, '17 16:31

Her green eyes scanned the crowd milling about the shops nearby.  She wasn’t familiar with this city, but had ties here oddly enough, and that was the entire reason she found herself traveling across the massive waters to these new lands.  The slight furrowing of her delicate brows gave off the impression she was angry, but she was exhausted and weary of dealing with Ernesto’s mess for the umpteenth time.

Vi folded up the piece of paper, sliding it back inside the inner pocket of her jacket.  It was just a case of slight nerves that had her rereading the letter for the hundredth time.  Her idiota cousin was in trouble yet again.  Vi sighed softly, wondering when he would grow the hell up, and stop gambling away money he didn’t even have.  Ernesto never seemed to learn that money just didn’t grow on trees, but she continuously bailed him out of trouble year after year.

She smoothed a hand over the jacket then across her hip, resting her hand.  Vi began tapping her fingers as she wondered the best way to get to his home.  Passersby didn’t seem overly friendly as she tried speaking to them asking for directions, so Vi ended up hailing a taxi.  The driver stowed her suitcase in the trunk then assisted with the door. Thankfully her destination wasn’t far away.

Vi leaned back against the seat, attempting to relax somewhat then smoothed a hand over the Chanel skirt.  She was half tempted to close her eyes from the exhaustion of traveling so far away from her home in Sicily, but somehow Vi was as alert as ever, taking in every bit of her surroundings.  The driver called out, causing her to turn her head out the window to her right, seeing the building complex in which her cousin dwelled.

Vi sighed softly noticing the drab fixtures, and upkeep of the building wondering why he chose such a place to live, but then this was him she was dealing with.  Never had money, always borrowing from loansharks, gambling everything to his last penny.  Yet what else did Vi expect because once again here she ran out of family obligation to help him out with cash.

The taxi driver placed her suitcase beside her on the sidewalk as Vi stood there shaking her head at the apartment complex.  She settled the fare, collected her belongings then headed inside to apartment 206.  Within moments she stood before the door, knocking with a firm hand.  She had zero patience at the moment, knowing he would be full of excuses upon seeing her.

No answer.  She knocked three more times, each knock with a bit more force.  Still nothing.  Vi turned by the door knob, a bit surprised it opened with ease.  The door swung open, to a half bare living quarters.  Furniture was sparse, and the place had an eerie silence to it.  Her voice was laced with a thick Sicilian accent with every word spoken.

"Ernesto.  Ernesto!  It's Vi."

Vi continued inside, shutting the door behind her then set her suitcase down before proceeding to check the other room.  She came out from the bedroom, shaking her head with a scowl.  She noticed then an envelop situated upon the table, propped against the salt and pepper shakers, addressed to her. Once she opened it, the scowl deepened as she read the note.

"Idiota.  What have you gotten yourself into!?"

In her rambling state, Vi failed to hear the door had been quietly eased open until she spun around hearing a deep voice.

Report Post Tip

It was collections day for the loan office that he had been contracted to work with. He was going to pick up a debt from a particularly annoying person. It wasn't his first time dealing with this one, as most times he either took a slight beating before weaseling away or was very good at giving him the slip outright. That's okay though as this time Kiryu had brought back up in the form of an associate of his by the name Shinji.

It was Shinji who had found the info on where this person, Earnesto he believed he was called, lived. They arrived at the rundown apartment complex he was supposed to be staying in. It didn't surprise Kiryu at all that this man would live in such a shady and rundown place as he had a nasty gambling habit and that's what got him in this mess in the first place.

Kiryu and Shinji approached the apartment number that this man was supposed to be living in. If Kiryu had his way he would have kicked the door down and went with a loud and proud entrance as he wasn't much for stealth and slinking around. Shinji talked him into trying to be surprising for once and he went along with it reluctantly feeling as though it might make this take longer than necessary.

Shinji gently eased the door open and stepped inside and Kiryu then followed. It was mostly quiet in the apartment almost like nobody was home. Letting impatience get the best of them Kiryu spoke out into the apartment giving up their element of surprise.

"Excuse me, it's time to pay your debt Earnesto. I'm only collecting what you owe so please don't think too badly of me." Kiryu said as he and Shinji walked further into the apartment looking for any signs of life. Kiryu also ignored Shinji's facepalm at him giving up their element of surprise. It was once they got to the kitchen that he noticed a woman standing there holding a paper and now looking at him and Shinji. It was Shinji who spoke first.

"Aniki, this is the right apartment... But...." He trailed off speaking to Kiryu confused to the sight in front of him. Kiryu could understand as he was equally confused. The info they had didn't tell them about a wife or a girlfriend living in the apartment and also no other family in the country. Not really one to tip toe around the subject too much Kiryu asked exactly what was on his mind.

"This is supposed to be the apartment of one Earnesto Orsini.. Who are you and what are you doing here?" He asked bluntly with a deep and serious voice to the woman in question.
