Fishing for a family! Started by: Kobayashi on Jan 02, '08 13:22
We all expect for the new members of this world to fish around for a family, I have no issue with that, I WANT the new members of this great world of ours to find a good home to live out their criminal lives! I EXPECT a new member of this world to ask around, find out what a family is about, how a family is run and make a choice that best suits their own needs!

With this being said, who can tolerate the new mafioso to our world who runs up to every family begging to be apart of that family only to join another two minutes later!!! This to me is a slap in the face, this is a high disrespect that needs to end! How can one mafioso lay loyalty to every door in the streets... What can or dare I say SHOULD be done with these disrespectful mafioso, do we give them a "pass" and hope their loyalty is not as fleeting once they enter a family?

Do we kill them and as we watch them die whisper in their ear the mistakes that led them down the bloody path?

You may ask; "who is this Mafioso bringing such a discussion to our fine streets, how would he know of such things?"

One of the responsibilities I have for my family is to recruit, I sit and converse with the young mafioso of our lands, I have to vouch for the invite that these young disrespectful mafioso are searching for... So I am here to ask all of you how does one in my situation handle such a slap in the face??

A long time ago, I remember a Right Hand Man who would shoot every mafiosi who asked him for an invite then scuttled off to another family. Perhaps that's a little too harsh, but no one ever argued with him. Shall I tell you why? It was because people back then realised that anyone who placed so little onus on which family to join was clearly not worth their weight in turd.

Again, perhaps I'm overreacting with that statement, but I've always been quite an overzealous chap. If someone asks me for an invite, and I know they've already asked another leader, even if it's only one, it automatically disqualifies them from receiving one. It is akin to saying "I clearly have little in the way of loyalty and honour."

I'm sorry, but I disagree with the comments amde here.

See, when I was bought up, I was led to believe that civilians and thugs were not applying to join a "family" as you put it, but rather they were looking for their first job, a foot in the door, if you will. They would then be given time to show their worth to the organizatiion, and progress if appropriate....and one day, some time in the future, the head of the organisation might decide, "Hey, I like this fella", and then make him Made....give him his badge, and welcome him/her into the arms of the Family behind the organisation.

That is what these guys are doing....they're applying for jobs...and I can think of several situations which would permit them to apply for more than one. You say it is disrespectful - these guys have a thousand and one things to concern themselves with when embarking upon this way of life, and of course, choosing their employer is a big one - but say, for example, they choose a suiatble destination, and write a letter of application. They then have to go away for a while, and when they return, there has been no reply from their chosen company....are they supposed to wait and risk being shot when they become a gangster? I know I wouldn't take that chance...and I also know that there are frequent occasions when crews, etc have no Leader or RH in attendance.

As for the RH who chose to shoot people for applying to more than one family, I think that just shows how bored he/she must've been...

From my own experience I believe this is like a lot of things in this world. It can be done one of two ways. When starting out those fresh off the boat can contact several families, making enquiries about what they require from potential recruits, see what different families are looking for to see which one would be best suited for the said person.

Then when it comes to asking for a job they would know who they feel would work best with. That way no one could get offended when the person joins who they have decided upon. In my opinion asking every Tom Dick and Harry for an invite is asking for trouble because say you ask 5 people for an invite and you get sent 5 invites, Your turning down 4 mob bosses, essentially your turning your nose up at 4 potentially dangerous people, people who you really shouldn't go out of your way to piss off.

Our business is based on respect and to openly disrespect so many or even just one boss from the outset of your career it's not exactly gonna look good and what is it gonna show your new boss about loyalty? Okay you chose them this time out but if something arises in the future and you have to make a choice again will you make the same choice?

Sure find out what ya can from the different families before asking for an invite but when your asking for one it's in your best interest to only ask one person.

well personally i have no problems with someone coming to me seeing what i expect in a person and then going around finding out what the other leaders have to give, then if still interested then offering me his services but there is always other ways to go about finding a family.

you could have contacts from your father/mother who are in a family ask them what it is like there would it suit yourself and what you want to gain from life and could you fulfill your potential there.

Also if you need help when starting out around these streets you could ask someone who is already with a family for help. The help this person gives you could sway you into asking them for a good word as to joining the family.

what im trying to say is yes the usual way of finding a family by going direct to the leader is all good and well. but there are also other ways if you want to know or find out about the family you are joining first.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't ask around, I encourage everyone to research the families they are interested in, ask around, talk to leaders, members, walk around the streets and take notice to who is talking about what... etc

The issues I have are when a mafioso does not ask a question but instead asks to be in the family, I feel once you ask for that invite you are honour bound to that family! I can also understand if someone asks to join a family but no leader or RH is around to send that mafioso an invite, usually if a mafioso contacts another Leader and explains his/hers situation, they can usually get an temporary invite until the Leader they did want can come on and send them that invite!!
