Pointing Fingers (Leaving Broadway HQ) Started by: LuckyLucy on Sep 29, '17 21:48

Lucy exited Cesare's office carrying a small cardboard box with dark stains.  She looked pale and troubled.  She gave a few goodbyes to folks insisting she'd be back tomorrow but hand some business to deal with.  On her way out she sees Wrench.  She stops near him and makes sure he can see her mouth when she speaks.  She's figured out he seems to be able to read lips.  "I wanted to thank you for your help the other day on the heist for Nikki."

She forces a smile.  "I was hoping we might find time to talk about you teaching me some of your moves.  You're handy with your hands."  Her hands on the box tremble slightly but she tries to ignore it, as if having a blood soaked box was the most common thing in the world to happen.

Wrench watched as Lucy exited Cesare's office and went around the HQ saying her goodbyes. He was still concerned about her state of mind thou. Her aura that night gave off signs that shes having troubles dealing with her past, almost as if shes seeing ghosts. She didn't look any better today, pale and grief-stricken as she approached Wrench.

Wrench read Lucy's lips and caught every word, he had so much to say to her but he knew she couldn't understand his sign language yet. So he opted for a simple one hand on her shoulder, a smile and with the other hand gesticulated that he will always look out for her. The heartfelt moment was short lived, as one of Wrenches street thugs came rushing in looking battered and bruised.

He caught his breath back and quickly wrote down that 'he didn't want to do this, but if he doesn't Marla Singer is going to kill his family'. Once Wrench finished reading the young man gave him a very small box wrapped in brown paper, and a small card tied down with a bit of twine. It was similar to the box Lucy was holding, without the blood. Wrench noticed Lucy's chest grow as she inhaled deeply. He took and read the note to himself;

Tell Consigliere Fazzone that blood has already been paid for with blood.  Let this gift remind Broadway of what we do to those who turn traitor and 'help' other families.  Further attempts at recruiting spies in our ranks, or violence against us, will have DIRE consequences.

Wrench opened the box, inside was a man's severed finger. He instantly closed it and gazed at Lucy, who now turned a shade paler. He gave her the note to read, before trying his best to indicate to her that it was best she didn't look inside the box - that yes, it was what she thought it was inside.

Lucy felt the warmth from Wrench's hand, and his intentions.  It was far better than she deserved right now.  He was perhaps the most gentle murderer she'd yet had the pleasure of meeting.  She opened her mouth to say something but was cut off by the roughed up street tough who came to Wrench.

She knew, thanks to the letter Cesare had shared, what was in the box even before Wrench offered her the letter.  Yet, she took it just the same.  She read the words and whispered, "I'm sorry Wrench."  She knew that he couldn't hear her, but that wouldn't stop him from reading her lips and knowing that she felt responsibility for this mess.

"I need to take the box... he has family, they'll want what they can get of him back to bury."  She smiled through unshed tears.  "They're pretty catholic."  She opened Cesare's over sized box and offered to let Wrench put his inside.

"Maybe we'll talk about those lessons another time?"

Wrench hesitated slightly before placing the small box into Lucy's bigger box, he caught sight of the bloodied contents inside and kept a straight face despite his desire to frown. Lucy surely was going through some weird shit, he thought to himself. He nodded in response to Lucy's desire for some sign language lessons, and gave a simple 'let me know if you need me' gesture to Lucy.

Then he wrote down 'Show me who did this' for the young street thug to read, and ushered him outside. But made sure to look back at Lucy one last time as he left the HQ.

Lucy gave Wrench a sad smile as he walked away.

With her box in hand, flanked by bodyguards, she made her way down the street.  A group of young boys were running towards them.  Guiseppe and Tony stepped in front of her, some of the boys knocked down to the ground and then scrambled up to run away.  Giuseppe picked up a note off the ground that one of them had dropped.

"Tommy and me, we use to do that same gig for Old Man Whitehill."  She sighed.  "Read it to me Tony."

Tony looked at the note.

Consigeliere Fazzone,

I hear you are embroiled in some conflict with my son Billy. Whatever happened , happened a long time ago. It is better to let sleeping dogs lie lest they come back to bite you in the ass. This is the only warning you'll get, back off or suffer the consequences.

"We're taking you to a hideout we got near here while we make some calls."  Tony said taking her arm.  Giuseppe took her packages.  She hadn't told him yet that his baby cousin was in pieces inside.  It made her want to scream.

"What did the note say, Tony?"  He wasn't answering, she persisted, "Tony!  What did it say?"

"Nothing good."  He opened her car door and put her inside the back seat.

"But what about the Russian... and Frank?!?"  She asked, though she knew it was ridiculous to have even considered taking a job with all of this happening around her.

"Frank wants you alive.  You two can make a date night of a heist after we've saved your skin again."  He tapped the door to let Yamir know she was in and secure.  Instantly the car was pulling away, even as Tony was only half way into the vehicle.
