I feel the likelihood of a families hitsquad infiltrating another families heavily fortified headquarters so that they can perform execution style shots on numerous members of that family without anyone noticing something is up is quite low and shouldn't be as easy to achieve as it is now. In an attempt to stick with realism and prevent sudden crew take downs I propose that members of a crew are immune from shots as long as they are situated in their own district AND the crew has their forts at IWP and then an increased chance of survival based the lower levels of protection as it is now. This means that a families headquarters would actually need to be attacked (placed under siege) by a rival family to expose its members to the point that they can be shot thus giving the attacked family a chance to actually defend themselves. It also means that if a war were to break out then it would give a families members somewhere to run and take cover whilst a retaliation plan can be formulated. This would allow all members of a crew to actively contribute to the forts during the siege to try and keep them at IWP in conjunction with the usual other options (Pro shots etc). Obviously any family members in any other city or district would need to take their chances without the added protection. |

I could see this being good for Squishy's bottom line. Think about how many credits would sell when people realize "CRAP WE'RE AT WAR!" and they scramble to rebuild their forts before they come down to the critical mark. Also, it wouldn't stop folks from taking shots at crew members outside of the home protections so... I think this might have some merits. |

Also imagine the RP scrambling - people trying to negotiate truces, trying to kill off offending parties to make peace etc. Man the drama and actual work people would put into a 'war' would be more than a plan to catch people off guard and blitz them as hard and fast as possible. As it is, once a superior force declares war, it pretty much feels one sided and leaves the losing side questioning "why did I buy BGs, all I did was prolong the inevitable" and that's not the sort of customer thinking that keeps the site thriving. If folks have a way to scramble and try to save their skins (especially if that means helps fund the site's coffers) I think that would rock! |

This also works the other way. This also ensures those at the top stay at the top. Imagine if there is a group of crews that oppress the entire site, and it would take a Christmas miracle to break the grip on the rest of the game. They could literally sit in their ivory tower, immune to any smaller crew who wants to try to take down the evil regime. They only come out to pop other CLs. Rinse. Repeat. You can't squeeze out the chance of an underdog being able to throw off the shackles of an oppressive regime. I feel this feature, while good intended, would just become another trick up the sleeve of those who dont want any checks and balances and wish to remain in power by sheer oppressive force, rather than offering mutually beneficial reasons to stay in power with those around them. |
