Who or what do you blame? Gun Manufacturers Lawmakers Drug Addiction Lack of Mental Health Care |

Lack of a proper upbringing by unprepared parents. Lack of intact families with loving devoted parents. Lack of proper education by shitty uneducated and/or busy parents. Lack of proper education by shitty underfunded school systems. Lack of extended support systems outside of the home (Church, Camp, Afterschool activities, whatever) Lack of actual face to face social interaction which dwindles by the minute. Lack of teaching children to deal with failure growing up. When there are no losers, every special snowflake grows up unprepared to deal with the real life of losing and getting shit on. Over protective parents. Bubble wrapping your children is counter productive. The macho image that men must be men and bottle up all emotions. The media pushing the all the bad things happening down your throat 24/7. When all you are exposed to is doom and gloom, I believe it actually alters your perception of what the norm is. Parents want to fight all their kids battles for them. This denies them of a shit ton of real life experience that prepares them for life when they grow up. Lack of parental discipline. From a very young age, kids learn that if they keep escalating, they will eventually get what they want. This *really* backfires in the future. You are raising children who are unprepared for life :/ One day that special snowflake exterior will melt and they wont know how to process it. |

Guns are just tools. Look at other countries, rather than guns they use knives, or acid, or bats, or fire. Weapons are always around us, its the fools that use them that is to blame.
I think a healthcare system that embraces affordable mental health would be beneficial. I think better funding and standards for our schools would be beneficial.
I know a lot of addicts that would never hurt another human being. I know a lot of straight edge people who would. Drugs may be a contributing factor on a small scale, if you want to blame drugs, you have to look at the desperate human being first, and not the drugs.
Even if this was a free as condoms at a clinic... we are still in the john wayne mentality that real men dont have emotions. Fuck this one in particular. |

All very good and valid points. There isn't one I disagree with. Friends from other countries have asked me my thoughts on the violence in America. They typically blame the gun laws here which is understandable, but I can't agree that guns are our biggest problem. Don't get me wrong, I do believe that some weapons should not be purchasable by an ordinary citizen and laws need to be changed, but I don't agree with ordinary citizens losing their right to bear arms if they so choose. I see the problem as more of a mental health issue and the lack of assistance to help those struggling with their mental illness. Most Americans will take themselves or their child to the Dr. if they are physically ill and if they have the money they will budget in a trip to the dentist but seeking help for wellness of the mind is last on the list, if it makes it on the list at all. I'm guessing this is due to the cost and partly due to the intangible result. When you go to a Dr., (s)he makes you physically well. You can see or feel that, same with the dentist, but if you seek mental health assistance there is no immediate obvious result. Besides, if you're depressed, angry, scared, confused, etc. you should know how to cheer up, man up or sleep on it and tomorrow will be better... at least that's the perceived solution. In my mind's eye, I see someone that is capable of such heinous acts as a person that has a mental disorder. |

The right to bear arms is valid and acceptable, we all want the right to be able to defend ourselves and our families and homes...but I dont see how that even explains how a person can check into a hotel like Mandalay Bay carrying at least...at least 23 firearms, and/or including modified stocks , automatic rifles, explosives. He might have been ill or have had bad parents, sure, but this lack of control is unsettling too. |

I agree with squishy, all have a contributing factor for whats has been going on. We as a nation have thrown stereotypes and stigma based on this topic. Not once have I heard they called this man a terrorist or a monster lets be honesty this is a terrorist attack. If he was Muslim he would of been label as a terrorist if he was black they would of called him a monster. Mental health issues comes with a stigma and a label so many people wont seek help or the quality of services is not available. I can talk about the African American and the Caribbean community that they rather go to the church and the pastor to get help rather than going to a mental health professional. We as a society conditions our male population that they shouldn't have any emotions... oh big boys dont cry . Yes I understand we have a right to own firearms but its no reason why one person should be able to own 23 firearms ,explosives ,and modified stocks . I believe many Law marks dont care because it does effect them directly. I believe there is a need for change with in our system. |

I don't think you can narrow it down to one or two reasons. How sick can a person be to shoot at an unarmed crowd, while being in the safety and convenience of a hotel suite(!!!!). A society or an educational system can't fix minds like that one. Laws however, could stop an unstable person to carry weapons like those. He would still cause terror but not in that degree. To completely avoid murders, is just impossible. To avoid massacres, you will have to look at how your society works and what it values most. |

| Just a lot of crazy people. I totally agree with everything Squishy just stated. There's more people with firearms than the people committing crimes with them. Without getting too deep into my family history, I've had three murders in my family since 2011. Two were armed with a third armed guy present, the other, my cousin, was in a stairwell when he was shot and killed. All for reasons that aren't worth a damn. However, I'm still not going to blame gun manufacturers or law makers. The same way I don't blame Dodge for me getting a speeding ticket. The gun itself is a lone object and cannot operate by itself. However you take an individual with mental incapability's and built up anger, you're going to get something similar to what we just had happen in Vegas. This shooting pisses me off. The bump stock he used, I've seen them all over the place, I live in the south where a lot of folks own an AR, including myself. If people would take more time with their children and teach them the respect of life, respect of others and show their kids some damn emotion from time to time, them kids would quit growing up so angry and taking their aggressions out on others. Church, camp, extracurricular, co-curricular activities, sports, whatever it may be, if parents would tend to their children more in their upbringing the world could be a better place. Adding a ban on firearms is not going to help a damn thing. Not long ago there was a stabbing maniac over in Britain. Someone will always find something to use for a weapon. Here in the states, there was something similar here recently on police officers. Guns, knives, axes, bows/arrows, sticks, rocks.....you get the point....It's best to be armed these days as the world gets crazier and more and more wicked. Being armed this past Sunday would have done absolutely nothing given the 1000ft vantage point of the shooter. But there's more scenario's than one obviously. Anyways, mental health, bad upbringing, and just total lack of respect of human life is all it comes down to. | |

None of the above, people kill people, not guns. Stop attacking the 2nd Amendment. If you take away our guns then you can kiss your freedom goodbye. America is Great because of our Constitution. Leave it alone damit! :) |

| We all are free to speak our minds and have different views points. I draw a conclusion on your statement and I was correct so what's the big deal. Not pointing any fingers but just disagreed with your statement. The Constitution only served for certain ppl which I can give many examples.Yes ppl kill ppl but in no way if I'm armed with knife I'm able to kill masses of people in a short moment. The system is failing us simple and clear | |

This here topic is one of my passions. The points Squishy raised are sad but all so true, contributes to the violence. Obvious Mental Health issues were not to be exposed back in the day. I believe it was not until the late 80's going to see a shrink became popular. For the last 25 years plus children are raised by their grandparents. That in itself presents disaster. Our self serving lawmakers at fuel to the fire. Mostly the snowflakes. (Dems) Here is what I have researched. All the inner cities in America are under the Democratic thumb. And have been for 50 years plus. This presents a problem for America. Look it up. |

One more thing or two. Ben Carson, one of the candidates in the presidential primaries said something real profound. He said if a man was hunting to place food on the table and was killed by a bear, the community would come fourth and make sure his wife and children's needs were met. He went on to say how we took bad practice in depending on our Government and this is not a recipe for success. In other words, we as a society have got to do our part and reach out when we see a family is struggling. When I was a teenager, I would take train rides into the city and feed the homeless at McDonalds. This year I will spend Christmas Day doing the same. I am at a point in my life where enough is enough. We all have valid concerns and gripes and we also have the ability to make a difference. |

CULTURE....The number one reason why violence is so bad in America is culture. Selling drugs, Cheating, treating women like objects, killing anyone who stands in your way, etc its all glorified in the most popular music, movies, shows, and even amongst inner city poverity areas where your taught dont let know one make you out to be a punk or disrespect you, gotta hustle fuck a job etc...
Your media perpetuates nothing but hate. They dont just report the facts anymore hell half the time they are even wrong about that initally because they jump the start to be first anf even go so far as to stage something to get a decent video lmao even during something stupid like a hurricane. Ontop of this they take their stations views or owners views or what be it and run hardcore with it and this is on both sides of politics and stances on various topics. Ive watched them twist and curtail certain things to get a better or worst light on a subject or even CNN famous tactict "we lost signal with so and so" I think with our media it also perpetuates
Topic of Guns. Plain and simple its a tool, it does not think to kill someone. The person shooting has the intent to kill. Its illegal to kill someone, its illegal to have firearms on most campuses, Its Illegal to have fully automatic weapons, Its Illegal for felons to have fire arms yet they still do it. Its illegal to have drugs, its illegal to use, its illegal to sell, its illegal to make yet people still do it. Want to go biblical lol the first man was killed with a rock. Some of the most mass deaths have been done by bombs. last i checked that was illegal also. Acid attacks in UK are pretty popular at the moment and im seeing Knife attacks killing 10-12 people at a time smh If someone has the intent to kill or harm they will do so. Honest men and women however are the only ones who suffer when you dont give them the means to be able to protect themselves from someone who intends to seriously harm or kill.
Mental health, Im not so sure I would say this is a true underlying cause to violence as most of those under this catagory or just crazy
If you look at most of these killers or violent people they have been highly functional type of people sure you wanna think their is something "crazy" or mental about them to exsplain why they did or thought so hateful but that is the problem they are not crazy. What you have is an evil person with evil intents. However then you have another issues. From a muslim radicals view... he is considered a monster and evil because of his act by majority of the rest of society but in his side with millions of radicals he and them belive it was something righteous and just and even needed or demanded by their views. I dont wanna argue with anyone on this particular part as it is very sensitive lol and hard to take your emotions out of it... my opinion is whole heartedly they all got a screw loose. However.... things like in the aincent past greek, roman, egypt, myan, aztec etc sacrifices were of the norm.... today if a culture did that we would shit ourselves.
Lawmakers while I do agree we have some fucked up laws the main issue like the gun is people typicall officals who bend and stretch and or able to use and abuse such at their whim to fuck others over. There are a few states i absolutely refuse to go to because of their far democratic/liberal laws like California or Florida where if someone Hits you, and you defend yourself your getting fined and etc... However i still would prefer or laws to others such as Dubai and Parts of China where you can be put in Jail for littering or being accused of a gay action or perceivd notion.
Drugs and Alcohol are not excuses to be violent. Like squishy said ive Known more people who would harm someone not on anything. Your Alcoholics who abuse is not because of it either they have the thoughts and etc of doing such while sober so no. The violence is usually from the selling and etc.
Make the round back again the main issue to blame is our culture and our upbringing by our society and parents/grandparents whatever. Society should take more strides in pushing the image of being respectful to eachother, helping, taking care of our surrounding and neighborhoods and having honor and diginity within ourselves not being self absorbed this everyone's a winner i need to feel gratification and be special and anyone who thinks otherwise is hateful and ignorant or racist and blaming my problems on everyone but myself bullshit. I think alot of things could be solved mentaly and such within in our schools where children spend 12 years + if they spent more time teaching about mutual values and respect. How to succed in life, financial understanding, basic life skills etc nope what do we get in our schools mindless copy this copy that study take a test and forget about it within a month mindless usless shit 80% of the American population dosent even remember. Your innerschools its basicly just a daycare for 12years no real help or knowledge or values given so ofcourse when you see or hear dumbshit like selling dope and having multiple side hoes and beating the hell out of this guy for his new nikes and its given street cred and respect from the other idiots it is only perpetuated |
