An interesting thing happened to me today. I was walking into a store and i saw a few people arguing. I looked up and watched as they yelled back and forth. I couldnt figure out exactly what was going on between these two men. I had some kind of mind to listen in just because i could. Now neither of these men are involved in this life we are a part of but if they were i find it very interesting. Here is what happened.
This young man ran into a store asking for something i couldnt tell if it was information or a job or what have you. Anways this young man ran in and began asking the lady at the register she grew frightened of the man so she grabbed her father. Her father and this young man talked over and over. Pretty soon they began to yell back and forth. one of the phrases the young man spit out of his mouth was,"MY FATHER WAS YOUR BUSINESS PARTNER AND ALWAYS HELPED YOU OUT WHENEVER YOU NEEDED ANYTHING..."
As i put together all of these pieces of this incomplete story i thought to myself, in terms of how i live, What if a Godfather, even a one time crew leaders son or daughter came into this thing of ours. What if they had such a desire for respect and better treatment for what there father or mother, not them, had accomplished that they would inform you who their parents were? What if they asked for more then all of the simple pleasures most of us wise guys settle with and for? Would they be treated better then a man who had no family line? A man who jumped off the boat and knew no one?
It is only for the fact that day in and day out this young person has learned the tricks of the trade and followed their fathers, or mothers shadow. I wonder what it would be like if there was almost like a secret group whose sole mission is to learn how to lead in different areas of life. That would be something. This is just a fun little topic to keep us busy and... Wait Ok now im starting to digress and talk of many things so lets get to the point shall we! Now i want to ask my orginial question;
Should The sons and daughters of former Godfathers and Godmothers be treated with a differnet type of respect? If so why. If not why not.
Should the Sons and daughters of former Crewleaders be treated with a different type of respect? why or why not. |

It actually depends on what they achieved because if they had a great run an they was killed then yes their son or daughter should be taking care it's just that thing about this world of ours,,they don't get all the respect as their mother or father had but yes they deserve similar respect |

You're asking for an across-the-board answer to a general question. That's always a bad idea.
The answer to both of those questions is another question: "Do those sons or daughters have enough influence in this thing of ours to demand greater respect than any other mobster of the same rank?"
Who their parents were is irrelevant, but you'll often find that these children of influential people also have pretty good connections and influence. That's all that really matters. Can they DEMAND respect, not "should you give it to them". |

Though this is a topic that I've heard discussed MANY times, I've never contributed to any of those discussions, so here goes.
The families of even mediocre gangsters are taken care of, should they die in battle, or on the job, in general. Obviously, the son or daughter of a leader will be well-taken-care-of, and there are several reasons for this.
Leaders have more resources. So it is reasonable to assume that they will have more riches to pass on to their sons and daughters. Those individuals enjoy the advantage, just as in the real world, of having a powerful mother or father.
Also, as you overheard, leaders do sacrifice a lot of time and resources in the interest of their crew, so it is only natural that their descendents are reimbursed in what ways we can. Leaders know leaders, so, naturally, the surviving leaders, who are in the position to repay this debt, will the more naturally inclined to help the descendents of their dead friends.
Blood, or talent, does not die with a leader. Meaning that descendents of leaders are likely to share their intelligence, talent, or whatever it was that put them in that position of power in the first place. It makes sense for other leaders to place a stake in their future--one that is predictably bright--rather than that of some random gangster.
Because of this blood, they are usually considered more trustworthy. Time and again, I've heard leaders say, "I'd rather have a RHM who I can trust with little or no experience than a don who I barely know." And it's usually a rather good strategy, in time of peace, at least. Though they may not have been active or known in the crime world while their parents were at lare, presumably they've picked up a few things along the way that will make them an effective family manager.
I know that I've missed a few points, but that'll do for now. |

So lets go over this for a minute. Who their parents were is irrelevant or it is not? I would have to disagree with you. I think that is the best way most times to know who a person will become is by the history of their parents. I think that who their parents is plays a huge role that these youth dont necessarily have to be praised for being born, we all kind of got that far. But they should be regarded as a bit more important than me, or another mobster perhaps.
This is where i would draw the line and this is where i do draw the line. No worthy Godfather ever runs arround the streets screaming hes a Godfather and he should be praised and no son of his should do that either, If they do they would be a very dangerous asset into this life. So dangerous that they become a liability and all they provide for you is a small check every day. This is a statement i will refer back to as the conversation progresses.
The choice comes down to recruit a New man, A mobster full of omerta full of all you can ask for comes along and asks to be in your crew. Yet another man comes along at the same time and asks you to join yet this young man was son to The Great Godfather of a city would you go with the man who has no family line? or would you touch upon the man whose father was a Godfather? |

ePiC heard what Wolf_gambino ask and think very hard about his question.
"There was just a tale that i have heard, to order a king to achieve what his real goal is, he sent his son to among the others to leave the way they are, to feel the hurt as other feel, to see what is right and what is wrong, his son merely dont get any respect as his father has, but he keeps on going to teach others the way should be for more prosperous life, respect has been gained but others envy him no one knows why they envy him they just feel i must envy him, for others this envy become their path to follow him and do what he did so they can get same respect, to others to cursed him, stone him to death. as you can see respect is to be gain not because what does your father is or your ancestor are, for me respect is more when you step down and start the way others do and share them what they need to know. having so much power when you are still young will not gain more respect but envy and guilt to others who has same potential such as you but because of your line they cant get the same respect they wanted, they cannot see their dreams coz they only see is enviness to the person that has only bloodlines in theiir hands others cant get their chance others will not learn if same person same bloodlines will be at the top, many are dreaming to have that same spot others are having right now, why not give them the chance and let them experience, who knows maybe someday this little one can make great changes to all of us." |

pUcky appears out of nowhere and decided to say out some wise words before he begins his own speech on the streets later today.
Enough with all of the bloodline things that demand respect. Your father or mother is dead and you cannot do anything about it, be a man or woman and stand up for yourself. I learn the ropes in here that vague ancestry can be a factor of respect? hell no! Respect is earned not be given because you have this blood, what blood? Type O? B? A maybe? Who cares.
To make things alot easier, once you decided to enter in our system here in mafia 1 thing is clear about respect. You maybe cuddled by your father's friends and even give you all windows of opportunities that only you can have and have all the lollipops and rainbows in the world however, respect is another thing you cant just reach with your arms extended but with the right method to earn it. |

:Sly returns, happy to see the discussion continues, because he has thought of another few words he would like to say:
Yes, yes, Pucky. all that being said, I have forgotten to mention that it is completely the responsibility of the leader's child to make a new name for themselves and earn their bones, just like everyone else. Though their family history may indicate potential, their present committment will determine what they "deserve," in the long run. |

Yeah pUcky, I would agree....except most sons/daughters are instanly promoted so you have to give more respect to someone who hasnt earned jack shit in the family. I could give two shits who your parents were...fact of the matter is you...yourself havent done shit for the family to deserve the type of respect I'm forced into giving you so young.
The world is truly twisted when you're forced to give a street thug more respect than a button man. Of course I'm only a wiseguy....cant imagine how it must be for some Made men, bosses or consigs. |

Not so much...the ones who do follow will be stuck in purgatory....while the kin of the kin of the kin will get promoted for breathing. There's flaws in the logic somewhere up the line.
I always believed it fell in line like this....you got your CL, RHM and LHM. Should your RHM fall...the LHM steps up to the plate and the next in line walks up to LHM. Seems highly logical. |
