GAME ADVICE: Altering the economy, need input Started by: Squishy on Aug 07, '10 00:32

After reading over this I like the idea, and only one question comes to mind. Being you are slicing money/prices by 1/10 I am wondering when it comes to cheap drugs such as Marijuana and Mushrooms, will cents come into play?

Report Post Tip

The only question I would pose is what would you do with the drugs like marijuana? With prices as low as single digit dollar amounts, how would that be lowered unless cent's started to get involved?

Report Post Tip

Tbh to the guys that are talking about low drugs like Marijuana and mushrooms, look at the max price they are. With the way things are at the minute the money we make off them is nothing compared to the money we make from barbs and up. So technically the prices for them wouldn't have to change.

To put it in real terms 3 grams of green costs roughly 30 pounds where I live, so that's 10 pounds a gram. the lower drugs wouldn't need to be touched because even with taking the 0 off the end, we would still be making more money from Barbs, H and Coke than we would be from Marijuana, Mushrooms and Hashish

Report Post Tip

It's not about the money, it'd be about the achievements. And the game doesn't recognize ounces, grams, or halfies of marijuana, it's all in lbs. Not to be confused with pounds.

Report Post Tip

I definitely like this idea to make it more realistic but as most others said the drugs might be a slight issue. because if the price of Barbs H and Coke didnt change then in essence we are paying 40,000 per lb of H if its at 4000 instead of paying the 4000 we were before. Does that make sense to everybody or do I need to explain that a bit better?

Report Post Tip

Drugs too would be changed - 5500 coke would now cost 550.  12 dollar marijuana would be rounded to 1, 16 dollar marijuana would be rounded to 2.

Report Post Tip

The drug prices seem about right for their real world prices. I remember reading after world war I, the price of cocaine was roughly 10-15 dollars a gram..

Turn that into a pound, and you can see it's about the correct price that it should be - a few of the barbiturates floating around there are the same as well - I can't speak for the other drugs, but I imagine the prices are pretty accurate. Remember, at the time, most of this stuff WAS legal, back when Bayer was pushing diacetylmorphine (heroin) as a cure-all drug.

Report Post Tip

TBh Boner I wasn't talking about here when I said about the prices I pay, I was just giving it as an example. the drugs were changed to lbs over units a long time ago to make it realistic.

Who says that a gram in real world values can't be a lb in MR values?

Report Post Tip

I dont see any problems arrising from this change at all.
Feel free to leave the decimal where it is when you get towards the end of the alphbet for my wealth will you ;)

I wont mind in the slightest...

Report Post Tip

Hmmm.. its sounds perfectly fine. As long as everything is reduced by a 0. However you say this is to change it for realisim..

The mafia is a rich organization. They didn't really work in thousands much unless they weren't a big family. They indeed did work in millions of money so.. this would make it realistic in the current day of 2010. However.. back in 1930's I am pretty sure the mafia worked in millions.

I could be wrong.. I don't know.

Report Post Tip

Sal, If the drug market stayed at the same price everyone would have way too much money compared to what all the other prices are.  That's not realistic.

Report Post Tip

And Diablos back in the 20's, working in the thousands was realistic.  Because back then every thing was cheaper.  The prices we have now would be realistic for todays mafia.

Report Post Tip

The drug market won't stay the same, Squishy has said about 3 times already that everything will change... everything. I'm pretty sure everything includes the drug markets.

Report Post Tip

What about crew member earnings as they would appear on a CL's Crew Menu? Would their prior contributions be reflected based on the old economy? Or would they also appear slashed by 10%with the change?

Report Post Tip

Shazam laughs

Everything money-wise changes, even in our earnings section on our profile. Same with the crew-page. It'll be lower but still it'll change.

I have a question though.

"If we have this change, and right now let's say I have 1mil in earnings. Will we have to start from 0 once the change IS made?

Report Post Tip

Err my apologies, RocknessMonster. Didn't quite read what you wrote. Just scanned.

But we do have somewhat the same question.

Report Post Tip

It will all be the same (in theory) if you earnt 1,000,000 dollars prior to the change it'll still be the same when the change is in place so instead of 1,000,000 it will be 100,000 instead :)

Nothing changed pretty much except how it looks. Well that's how I see it maybe an administrator can correct me. :)

Report Post Tip

I say go for it! It would make things more realistic.

Report Post Tip

Hah! Just like everything else. Makes sense.

Report Post Tip

It's all great changing cosmetic features of the game, but in my opinion for whatever it is worth more time should be spent on this change - God knows the admin donate more than enough time on this game but for this to be worth it more time should be spent on this change. Tweeking the prices for certain features of the game up or down rather than just going for homogeneous answer of lowering all cash making/ spending features by 10% would add much more realism.

I did notice when Squishy said this was for cosmetic value, but it would be nice to see it actually change by different percentages rather than just one across the board.
