Here is a detailed explanation of the forums. Please reference this guide if you are unsure of where your post should go. First and foremost, some definitions: IN CHARACTER (IC): In Character speech is dialogue written from your player account's point of view. Remember that your player is living in the golden age of the mafia, from the years of the late 1920's to the early 1940's, and this game is primarily based on the mid 1930's. Stay in the general timeframe, however and you'll be alright. OUT OF CHARACTER (OOC): Out Of Character speech is dialogue written from your point of view, and not your character's. This should be simple enough to follow. IN REAL LIFE and IN GAME (IRL and IG): This should be an easy concept to comprehend, but often times it isn't. IRL has nothing to do with game. IG has nothing to do with IRL. IRC is not IG. If you choose to carry out IG meetings on IRC, that is your choice, but be very aware not to blur the lines between things that happen in an IG context to that which affects you IRL. If you character is killed in game for actions that happened in game, do not attack the PLAYER who killed your CHARACTER with personal attacks IN REAL LIFE. ROLE PLAY (RP): Role Play is the act of playing a part, and in this game refers to your character assuming the role of an early 20th century citizen of the six cities in the time of the mob culture. It is akin to acting, only in the textual sense. Now onto the forums. STREET The STREET forum is for IC dialogue that references IG materials. The STREET forum is the ultimate forum for street debates, RP adventures and stories, and IC announcements. OOC The OOC forum is for OOC dialogue that references IG materials. The OOC forum is the ultimate forum for debates of an OOC nature, stories that deal with the mafia or this game, and OOC announcements as long as they deal with MafiaReturns.com and the contents of the game. OUTSIDE The OUTSIDE forum is for OOC dialogue that does not reference IG materials. It is for discussion among users about topics that interest the posters. It is not to be used to spam or attack players. BUSINESS DISTRICT The BUSINESS DISTRICT forum is for IC dialogue that references IG materials. Its is a forum for users to create establishments such as bars, shoppes, casinos, brothels, speakeasies and businesses of the like. BACK ALLEY Simply put, the BACK ALLEY is your business. You can do what you wish with this forum from using it as a 'pre-post' run to see how your formatting will appear, to hosting private meetings in game. You can choose to keep the dialogue IC or OOC, and the subject matter, IG or IRL. HQ The HQ forum and its tone are dictated by the crewleader. HELP The HELP forum is for user questions about game features and play. It should be used after consulting the tutorial and if possible, HelpDesk or a game Assistant. It should also be noted that the title of the thread in the help forum should reference the problem and not be generic like "Please Help" or "Having Issues". SUGGESTIONS The SUGGESTIONS forums is for user suggestions for new features, deletion of old features, or modification of existing features. Suggestions should be well written, thorough, and presented in such a way as to show a clear advantage to game play and advancement of the site. Threads and posts that do not conform to the above general guidelines will be moved to the proper forum or deleted entirely. It should be noted that moved and deleted threads do penalize the author and in some cases the repliers. Any questions on the posting policy should be forwarded to HelpDesk and will be responded to in a timely fashion. Thank you, VendettaJames |
