Strolling bye, hatchet man hears a somewhat heated argument taking place in the streets and decides to chime in...
I understand exactly what you're saying -SubZero-. I guess it may be quite annoying to most of the long blood lines that have roamed these streets for many years. To them, their ancestors have "put in work" so to speak, and who is someone like myself for example (a young blood) to say whether or not their children should be treated different then any other youngster running around these streets. I personally do not care that bosses or higher ranked mobsters treat them with more respect due to their family history. That's just something that comes with time and hard work.
Now, on the other hand...
As Prophet spoke upon, there is another side to the coin. It's for the eager young bloods who have aspirations of doing great things. Now, I haven't been around the new La Cosa Nostra for too long (ooc: MR) as my past few family generations tried their hardest to stay away from the crime life. But alas, like my great ancestors once did, I roam the streets of the 8 cities looking to make some quick money. I HAVE heard stories from my great, great, great, grandpa of times when very few young bloods were given chances. And this may or may not be a big problem in the present mafia, this I am not quite too sure of (being I'm a lowly mobster). I can however say, with pretty good confidence, that I'm sure that there have been hard-working, deserving young bloods that have been past over for more established blood lines. Which, again, is entirely okay with me. But I also don't have a problem with the aspiring gangster being pissed due to "unfair treatment" towards the children of established blood lines who may have been given respect without necesarily earning it based off their parents reputations.
Having said all that, I agree with SubZero in that the complaining needs to stop. It's not always fair. I mean, hell, this IS THE MAFIA! But that doesn't mean sit back and do nothing about it. Pull your work boots up and put in work! You may have a legitimate cause for being angry but bitching isn't going to help your situation. At one point in time, those same established blood lines were once eager young bloods such as yourself at one time. I'm sure there were more established bloodlines running around the streets when they came off the boat to this "thing of ours". The only difference between you and them, they put their head down and got to work and EARNED their respect. I suggest all of us youngs bloods take note and do the same.

Alyz raised a solitary eyebrow as he watched on in some bemusement as his fellow mafioso rode a dead horse into the streets and commenced in vigorously beating it. |

OOC:
Many people on here complain because everything runs in circles...it gets stagnant and stale. Same people over and over and over because some CLs bitch about having to teach someone...if you don't have the time you don't deserve the position. Then they have the nerve to talk about realism...I doubt the families high rankers wouldn't shoot the boss in the fucking head if he brought in some thug and told everyone he deserves more respect than the ones busting ass for months (time frames are different...in real life I would say years). If you honestly have nobody you can trust to promote to LHM if your RHM get taken out...whats that say about the ship you're running? If you're alright with this practice you should never preach about realism in this game...death has become a joke...because all you gotta do is know someone.
Don't say I'm bitter either...because I have no time for the CL shit (so I can honestly say I don't deserve it and don't want it). Plus, I just do what I got to do to get by and meet random people in the process. Also, while I'm being completely honest...I could give a shit less who you chose as your RHM/LHM. My major problem is the people doing this talking about realism in the game...hypocrisy...fuck it. Also what families get destroyed in their sleep? |

Great point you have there and that's what I was trying to get prophet to see on a eye to eye level. I mean I never have been pushed away because of and older mobster coming back but if it every occurs then I can guarantee you I won't whine. Now for the killing family in their sleep thing it's just another thing part of war. It happens, I wouldn't call this thig of ours not real just because somebody get capped while they are sleep. That tell you to be as active as you can |

I'll be honest, I'm not really sure what a majority of you are talking about actually. One point I would like to address though that I have heard brought up several times in the past month...
Unless I'm misunderstanding JohnSmith's context, I think many mobsters have a very warped view of what a Mob War is. This is not the Battle of Gettysburg where two armies charge either other in an open field firing rifles at each other. Mob Wars are calculated hits. Research where the rival crime boss spends his time relaxing and take him out there when he least expects it. A Don from another city needs to be taken out? Send a guy to the city park where he likes to go relax and feed the pigeons and put a gun to the back of his head. Boom. He never sees it coming. Plant a hit man in the closet of a Godfather's gomarra's bedroom. Put one in his skull while he sleeps. Fuck it. You decapitate a rival faction's upper-structure and take out the rest while they scramble to make heads or tails of what is going on in the midst of all the confusion. Take solace in the fact that at least in Our World (MafiaReturns) it is common practice for the victor to take to the streets and offer up an explanation behind their actions. Shit, even that isn't owed to you. My father was killed in his sleep. Was it fair? I don't know. The word fair was removed from my vocaublary the day I started putting in work for these Connected guys I'm with now. As far as mob associates holding the position of Right or Left Hand Men? I'm sure we can find a much less touched-upon topic to debate in our fine streets. Maybe pickpocketing perhaps? |

OOC (because it's the only way possible): Realism. That's what people want correct? How many mob families and cities have been destroyed in their sleep? There's no possible way to fix this...but it's a question.
Again people can do what they want (as far as RHM/LHM) and I could care less other than the fact they go against what they preach in doing it. Realism? The families Consig (or another) would gain enough support because of the action to empty a clip in the bosses fucking head. My problem is there's no realism in the players actions...while the game itself is trying to move into a more realistic phase...at the support of the same players. Hmmmmm.....just saying. |

I kinda see what you saying because many changes is being made due to the realism of the community. But as you stated that the players are not going with it. I mean you take what you get. If you see a man sleep an you want him dead and he a powerful man then there go your chance of taking him down. The mafia is a dirty thing and some people have to adapt to it |

Why stop whining? It's what so many do best. And if there wasn't any whining, our streets would be silent for days. I don't so much mind the whining. It entertains me. Besides, one man's whining is another man's brilliance. Perhaps those who you say come out here and whine only see themselves as coming out here making a statement, or starting a debate, or passionately arguing for something they believe in.
Who are we to judge them? We are but the masses. And if we don't like the whining we can simply turn around and walk away. Easy enough. |

In regards to the enterence of the son/daughter of a former family leader or other sorts of a high ranking member of this thing of ours, I see no problem with these people given an easy start. |

However, on that note, I disagree with the same family line being authed for leadership over and over again. |

Thanks for that SmilingAssassin, I see we on the same page. I understand some folks gone get mad because they probably do work hard and bust their butt but still respect is respect and obviously you would give the position to the person you respect more. It would be hard giving a big role to someone so new to you so it's perfectly fine for an returning respected man to come in an get a big spot |

OOC: That's why you bring them in the family....they arent entitled to and don't deserve jack shit that any other thug off the streets doesn't. Regardless of the bloodline the fact remains they arent their mothers/fathers but are being treated the same exact way. Everything denies reality...can I start shooting people with a laser cannon? That was more likely to happen back then than a son/daughter being promoted to second in command because of their parents. Seriously...people complain about shit getting old well fucking do something new and give someone else a chance....only associating with the same people...results in the same fucking people getting auth over and over. I'm sure they don't mind....but reailty...it is not.
Does anyone care about reality in this game? Yeah, only when it comes to unimportant shit like sending random invites..."because the mafia would never do such a thing" they say with their fresh off the boat thug as RHM. Honestly? Again...I could care less if you do it...but don't you fucking dare preach on reality. Then again you can do as you wish...blah. |

OOC: (forgot to add it)Also like I said..if you run a half decent family..your LHM should be able to step up and both the CL and new RHM should be able to teach the new LHM without any complication at all. |

Judge Death watches from the sidelines. He agrees with what Smiling Assassina and John Smith both have to say... but he feels it better to not get involved. After all, in a discussion about realism, it's probably best that an Alien Superfiend stays in the background. It was always something that annoyed his family line though... well, annoyed the family line of the corpse he now inhabited... it really was confusing trying to work out which memories where his and which were the corpse's... it was always something that annoyed the corpse's family line. Thugs, gangsters and goomba's in the upper structure... not even as Right and Left hand men... I mean, you respect and trust someone enough to give them their button, but you don't trust them enough to give them a job in your HQ? |
