Having an option to enable advertisement which would give the site money, payed per print. Something like Google AdSense or anything not too intrusive. It would give credits each day you have it on. There could be a little function that checks if you were active today, then it would add up the creds. If you were absent for a day, you'd get no reward.

I'm pretty sure there used to be ads but they got taken done I don't know why but possibly because they were getting enough money to run the site to through donations (I may be wrong but I think that's right)

to have google adsense, you have to click one ad per day per IP to not violate it

plus you cant have anything about telling people to click the ads or you violate googles agreement clause

Although, you'll reckon that diversifying one's wallet is the key to generate a constant cashflow. It does not have to be as intrusive as the previous time: you just have to disable the ads by default and let the users decide whether they want it or not. I personally wouldn't mind an ad on MR, although I am not a clicker. A safer venue would be pay per print, where you get paid for printing the ad, rather than by getting it clicked. This generates a few income proportionally to ppc, and definitely fewer than donations. Nonetheless, it pays for itself. The expenses on coding and the negligible amount of bandwidth required for such a small code would be reimbursed by the ads themselves, with a little extra to help for the rest.
