Fears Started by: Diogenis on Oct 25, '17 16:18

Another day starts he thought as he was getting out of his bed. He stood up, wore his Italian slippers and moved to the kitchen to get his coffee and a nice breakfast. He used to drink his morning coffee outside on his balcony but for some reason it was too loud outside. Too many people were on the go that day. He looked at his calendar and it all made sense. Halloween was just around the corner and people were getting ready for them. Shopping, rearranging their gardens and all kind of things.

"I'll just drink it inside" He thought and sat in his favorite old chair in the living room. It only seemed like yesterday that he was a kid and found this time refreshing. When you are born in poverty and need, it's these times that set you a little free of the daily struggle for survival. Halloween always had an interesting note where people were basically chose one day to celebrate or battle or even embrace their fears. Dressed as someone else, becoming anonymous, it was like they were getting rid of things they didn't like about themselves and became different and more free.

Curiosity hit him again. He dressed up, got out of the house and start walking down the street as his personal bodyguards followed closely. Not far, he found a group of familiar faces. This looked like the perfect group to satisfy his curious nature.

Hello everyone. I noticed that Halloween is just around the corner. I remember when I was younger that I noticed this was the day that most people set away their insecurities and their fears and find ways to celebrate them. Things that would make some freeze in fear, we now see them as toys that people play and laugh with. Old and mystical customs some back to our lives and we embrace them with joy.

I have seen people be afraid of something as small as spiders or something as common as death itself. And yet, at this time and period, we see everything taking a more relaxed and funny note. A huge fake spider or a paper skeleton or even a ghost!

So, since we are closing towards Halloween, lets hear what everyone is afraid of. Personally, I have an irrational fear of the deep ocean. While an excellent swimmer, the thought alone that I cannot see land is terrifying for me.

So, I have a question for you all. What is it that you are afraid of?

Passing by already on his way to something unimportant, he saw a group of people listening to someone. Walking into the group of turned heads, he noticed it was Godfather - Chairman, Diogenis, speaking. Rubbing his chin as he listened, then saying,

"I have a pretty similar fear as well. I wouldn't do well in a deep ocean with giant sea creatures around me, that just sounds like too much for me to handle. That seems to be a semi-common fear, while others are scared of insects and such. Everyones different."

Senka looks around with shifty eyes. Not one for being around crowds she just couldn't help herself. Piping up quickly, she calls out.

"I fear being bored and normal." She shuddered and ran off to go drink the memory away of the time she was normal for five seconds.

The clouds were growing ever so dark by the minute. I am not sure why but I enjoyed the way the temperature dropped right before a storm. My driver looked back at me from the mirror and questioned why I was sticking my head out of the window. I didn’t answer him, he was new and unfamiliar with my weird ways.

After the car turned the corner my attention shifted from the storm to a slowly gathering group of people. I couldn’t help notice Diogenis, who I helped escaped from a particular nasty jail, at the center of this. Due to being stuck in a bit of traffic, I was able to stay long enough to hear him talk. The thoughts of what I feared the most ran through my thoughts. I shifted my butt slightly on the seat and decided to shout it out.

“ANAL PENTRATION!” I shouted, my voice cracked as I blurted it out. The car took off again after the traffic vanished, leaving me to my dreadful thoughts.

Maddy listened as a crowd of people were gathered and responding to Godfather-Chairman Diogenis's question. A bit surprised and shocked by the man yelling as he drove away she decided to speak up.

"There isn't much I fear anymore but if I had to choose something it would be to be restrained. I hate not having the ability to react and protect myself if needed. "

Stepping back into the crowd Maddy waited for someone else to come forward.

John listened to the Godfather - Chairman and others as he pondered his own fears...

"For me, I have't say it would be failure. It's no option for me. An' acceptance. I fear na being accepted. So, two fears for me. Failure, an' Lack of Acceptance."

He gave Godfather-Chairman Diogenis a nod, as well as nodding to everyone else. "But I accept ya all, as ya be." John stepped down and gave the next their turn.

Horseless carriages...they just freak me right out...I've got 3 carriages but none of them move without a donkey. It's got to be black magic, plus they only carry city folk in fancy clothes. I've tried numerous times to sit in one and no matter how many times I shout 'giddy up' they just don't move for me.

Filthy hops back on his trusty donkey and heads toward the ale house...

Capazzo listened as Godfather Diogenis once again came up with an interesting topic for discussion. This was becoming the norm for the Godfather and Capazzo welcomed it. He listened as different mafioso from different parts of the country expressed what fears they had. Capazzo knew the answer to his fear the moment Godfather Diogenis asked the question.

It was something he feared from a very young age, then as a young teen and now as a adult. It feared him now more then ever because there was a lot more riding on him. He game from a Godfather crew and was now a Capo of the Dead Poets, he ran quite a few rackets in the Chicago area and his relationship with MasqCharlie was growing every day.

Finally when the there was a turn Capazzo stepped up.

"Hello ladies and gentleman, for me there is one clear cut answer. That answer is failure. Failure is not an option for me right now and as you all know with the recent tragedies of our world its not a option for Chicago nor ANY of our great cities for that matter. Strength and success is what we need to rebuild and in order for me to play a vital role in that...failure can't happen."

With that Capazzo nodded and took a step back waiting to hear the next speaker.

"My biggest fear is when I bootleg a barrel of fine Kentucky Bourbon and when I get it back home to Michigan it turns out to be cheap Tennessee Whiskey."

:Dog sees an opportunity to let his voice be heard:

I am scared of baths, the post carrier, loud noises, and being left alone.

But, in truth, my biggest root fear is the Fear of Loss. Salesmen will recognize this immediately. That is why I agonize over every decision until I have to make it or fate makes it for me. That is why I inevitably regret ANY decision I make anyway, longing for possibilities. That is why I bark all day when my master is gone.

It is fear of loss that sometimes prevents us from gaining. How bad can you fail if you have nothing to lose? This self-defeating, own-worst-enemy theme is as common in organized crime as it is anywhere else. People will sabotage themselves rather than deal with the risk--the fear--of actual failure. It's a daily struggle for the self-conscious, for the talented, and for the leaders who find the fates of other people's lives in their hands.

One trick for certain mental barriers is to learn to manage one's ego. Indifference is effective in the successful. It's attractive. This behavior can be faked towards others, but it must be trained in order to be effective in one's self.

But when it comes down to it, the surest protection against the Fear of Loss is good, old-fashioned hard work.

Ezio took a moment to clear his mind. He was cleaning his blades from the recent work he was doing in countries abroad. sitting on his favorite roof top in Vegas he grabs his bull horn

"failure. It is never an option. There is nothing worse than setting out to complete your goals and failing your attempt time after time."

Olympia looks up at the man asking the question about fears, then listens as he mostly mentions her exact fear. She laughs and says, "Yes, fear of deep water, open water, etc. is actually very common. It's my fear as well, and also the unknown of what is in that deep water. The fact that my feet don't touch the ground under the water, or that I can't see through the water, or the thought that something could be down there and pull me under, really freaks me out! This fear is known as Thalassophobia! In case anyone was wondering! And it does indeed affect a lot of people!"

Having listened at everything that was said Manny found it interesting. Ideas and Ideology always made for interesting outcomes. As Manny was thinking about the input from the crowed there had been sudden screaming emanating from the crowd. Car wheels could be heard screeching and suddenly numerous gunshots went off into the crowd. Bam Bam BamBamBam Bam Bam  a firefight erupted as Mafioso fired upon Mafioso.

Taking cover Manny quickly left the scene under guard as they raced to the airport for a quick flight back home.
