Returning to Nature Started by: Takum on Nov 04, '17 06:10

Takum looked at the cityscape below him, having gone to his favorite spot for the last time. Chicago had been his home for many years now but it was time for him to make his way into new territory. The tiger was following his new crew to Detroit and he was excited. Afterall, he loved exploring. That didn't mean he wouldn't miss Chicago with its strange humans and smells or the memories he had made over the years.

The male looked up at the sky and noticed that the sun was almost fully over the horizon. It was time for him to back to the apartment where he used to live with Wrench. His new leader and the leader's Right Hand had arranged for the former to pick him up in Chicago and take him to his new home in Detroit. Not wanting to be scolded for not being where he was supposed to be for when Hackerman arrived, he made his way home.

Sam staggered in the street, already drunk and high on morphine at 7 'o clock in the morning. He hiccupped before taking another gulp out of the bottle of Gordon's he had hidden in a paper sack. The man looked up from his bottle just in time to see a white and black striped tail disappear behind the corner. He blinked, thinking he had been seeing things again. There was no way that it was roaming the streets of Chicago again. He and an ex-coworker had sold it to a circus. There was no way the tiger should be roaming around and not be crammed up in a cage in fear of its life or pushing up daisies.

The Drunkard clumsily ran after the flash of white and black, wanting to confirm that he actually saw what he thought he did. He peaked around the corner and saw a fully grown tiger sniffing at what appeared to be a dead rat. At that moment he not only realized he wasn't seeing things but that it was the tiger. After all, tigers did not normally roam the streets.

The man's severely disfigured hand pulsed in pain at the realization, sending his mind reeling into the past.

*flashback*

The stupid tiger wouldn't eat. Maybe if he prodded it with the broom handle instead of prodding the piece of meat?

He prodded the tiger and suddenly found himself against the cage. For a split second, he didn't feel a thing then suddenly an indescribable amount of pain tore into his hand and up through his arm, ripping a scream right out of his throat. He looked down, mouth wide and still screaming, and saw the tiger tearing into his hand. The poor man had thought he was going to die from blood loss by the time his co-workers arrived to help him.

*end*

Sam clenched his good hand and his teeth. Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to stitch his fingers back on and no amount of money in the world would be able to fix his hand. His eyes narrowed at the cat, silently reaching for the gun with his good hand.

Because of the beast, he lost everything! First, his job since he was no longer able to do his work properly and the fact that he was too afraid to go into the tiger enclosure because everytime he got close, it always seemed like they were plotting to tear him into shreds the moment he set foot inside.

Then he lost his family, his wife taking the kids to go live with her parents, thanks to his alcohol and morphine abuse. He carefully removed the gun from its holster.

If the tiger hadn't been roaming around the street, he would've never met the tiger. And if he hadn't met the tiger then he would still have two good hands. Then if his hands were good, he would still have his family and his job!

Letting out a silent and angry hiss, he quickly moved around the corner and took aim at the cat before squeezing the trigger.

Takum was only a couple blocks away from his apartment before he smelled something interesting, he followed the scent into an alley and sniffed the thing, distracted. Realizing it was a dead rat, he sneezed. Finding dead rats wasn't uncommon for him but the rat smelled of illness and powder, the scent of the powder causing him to sneeze. He shook his head and started to paw and his nose when his ears picked up something interesting. He heard the sound of breathing, he looked behind him but didn't see anyone nor did he smell anything other than the rat.

The tiger turned his back from the strange noise to continue through the alley when he heard a familiar clicking noise followed by a loud bang. Before he had the chance to turn around, he felt a sharp burning pain in his side. He released a pained cry and swung around to face his attacker.

That was when the second bullet hit, tearing through his front shoulder. This time Takum snarled, furious at his attacker and quickly moved into a run. It would only take him a couple of paw lengths to reach the human and kill him.

Two more shots rang out simultaneously, causing him to pin his ears back at the noise. Both bullets, hit him square in the back, one digging into his spine. The big cat collapsed just in front of his attacker. His rage quickly replaced by fear, knowing that he was now vulnerable to whatever the predator had in mind.

At this point, his attacker no longer looked like a human, but more like a beast like himself. His pupils grew as he let out a scared noise. More shots rang out, by this time, too many for him to count.

The tiger knew that he was dying at this point. He looked up at his attacker as his vision began to go dark and his breathing labored. Then he was no longer able to smell the gunpowder that was heavy in the air. After that, his whole body felt numb even though he could here more shots being fired. The tiger was no longer a moving target so it was very unlikely any missed. Finally, his hearing went. The last thing being heard was the used to be human's manic laughter.

For a moment his life flashed before his eyes, starting from when he was just a cub, being cared for by his late master Disgusted and Nikki to his last visit to his favorite spot and the rat. With a final painful thump of his heart and a long sigh, the white tiger left the only world he knew.....

Sam couldn't help but laugh. Finally, after all the years of pain and anger, he had gotten his revenge. And whoever would've thought it would feel so good? He wished he had hunted down the awful beast sooner.

The man heard a familiar click and looked down, with a scowl. He then replaced the emptied clip before shooting at what used to be a tiger but was now nothing more than a mess of blood and white and black fur. When the second clip was spent, the gun fell out of the maniac's hand before he himself fell to his knees.

At this point, the man couldn't stop laughing and it was to the point to where tears were pouring out of his eyes. Finally, in all of his excitement, he began to shout.

"Finally! I did it! I killed him! I killed the white tiger!"

Hackerman left the HQ rather late in the evening. Today was no ordinary night, usually he would be transporting drugs, stolen furniture, or perhaps even bodies of the infamous durden gang. But not today. Today was very special as Takum, the majestic white and black striped tiger had to be moved from Chicago to Detroit. He made sure to be in Chicago a couple of hours before the folowing early morning. Everything was planned, set up, and Sandberg had given Hackerman the nod to perform this rather unusual task.

They all betrusted Hackerman to execute his task to perfection, as he was known for.

Several hours later Hackerman decided to leave the motel he had been temporarily appointed. Half asleep and while the sun was starting to rise, he headed towards the agreed place in order to pick Takum up. He would be hard to miss, so this task shouldn't be a problem at all, Hackerman thought to himself while cursing at some other drivers who never should have been given a drivers license in the first place.

Focus. He had to focus.

About half an hour of driving, and Hackerman had arrived at the spot where they should meet up. For some reason Takum was not to be seen there, some fur was still scattered around as it usually would be, marking that Takum was around, or atleast had been.

*BANG BANG*

In the middle of all the noise the center of Chicago could produce, Hackerman heard something unusual, well, not unusual in his line of work, but still unusual given the time and place. It sounded like a pistol being fired multiple times, over, over and over.

Hackerman quickly connected the dots, Takum was missing, and gunshots went off, this was bad, really bad!

He followed the gunshots, and it didn't take more than a couple of minutes before the sound of a maniac laughing were heard close by.

Hackerman rushed between alleys, stores, and old dumpsters until he found the culprit. An old drunk was shooting Takum, over and over. Takum didn't notice Hackerman, as he was busy fighting for his life, but the bullets were far too much for a tiger, even if it was as special as Takum. The drunk then started to laugh even louder and quickly tried to run away. Hackerman drew his gun, and without hesitation shot toward the running drunk, missing over and over. "FUCK" he thought for himself. Not a single shot hit the drunk.

Moments after, Hackerman ran up to Takum, trying desperately to save him, but it was too late. The tiger was not breathing anymore, its eyes closed, its majestic fur recolered with blood and empty bullet shells. and clearly dead.

Hackerman didn't know what to do but give a silent prayer in hopes that Takum somehow would listen to it.

"You are finally free once more Takum, return to nature, and enjoy the everlasting hunting grounds. Hopefully we meet up there someday. You will never be forgotten, and I will make sure the drunk bastard will pay the price for his act. I will make sure you get a proper funeral as deserved. Rest well Takum, you are free at last."
