I've gotten a lot of questions from people this week about this chat event and I decided that in my final reminder - I would include the answers to the most commonly asked things in the hope of helping people to know what will happen during the event and how to be involved with confidence and have fun!
Things in this message override other answers I've given... some minor changes were made for ease of the event.

WHAT IS A CHATROOM RP EVENT?
Players take on the role of their characters coming to a given location, for a given reason, and they interact with one another's characters as well as the events which the event coordinator aka storyteller (LuckyLucy in this case) adds to the setting.
Typically there are two types of RP events, a social or story based events.
Social RP Event: One where characters interact with each other in a social setting (hence the name.) The primary form of entertainment in this style of game comes from interaction with other characters (talking) and from party style games that might take place. Normally this style of event facilitates characters getting to know one another and provides an opportunity for players to further develop their own stories. No violent or disruptive actions should be taken by player or characters during these style of events.
Story Based RP Event: One where characters interact with NPCs and Events created by the event coordinator. The primary form of entertianment in this style of game comes from resolving problems and conflicts. Unlike traditional Table-Top RPGs or LARPs where characters have statistics, conflict is resolved in a collaborative storytelling fashion (also known as Free Form Computer Assisted RP - read more about it HERE.)

This is a Social RP Event.
WHAT IS THE EVENT'S SETTING/PREMISE?
"Lucky" Lucy Dicaprio (LuckyLucy) RHM of Godfather Varys of Chicago - Consigliere of The Little Birds has sold very expensive tickets to a thanksgiving style dinner party which will take place in Chicago at her GREEN MILL JAZZ CLUB [ location description] the guest list is said to be a who's who of the nation's mob families. The proceeds of this dinner party for mobsters goes to help feed and clothe the poor of the "Six Great Cities" controlled by the in-game families (LA, Las Vegas, Chicago, Detroit, Philly, and New York.)
A youtube playlist link will be shared in the room's description (when you first enter the room you should see it) this will allow you to listen to music that is similar to what might be playing during the course of the event. Feel free to listen and enjoy!
DO I NEED TO PAY TO ATTEND? WHO CAN COME?
No. While the premise indicates you bought a ticket, you do not need to send anyone any money to come play. It's assumed you did buy a ticket (or were given one) but there is no need to pay to participate. This event is free of charge and open to anyone in the game!
WON'T IT GET CONFUSING WITH ALL OF US TALKING AT ONCE?
No more than any other chatroom you've ever been a part of. Chatroom Social Based RP does tend to become more like one large conversation happening between a LOT of people (as normal MIRC chatrooms do) and this is okay. If you can pretend you're a mobster, you can also probably handle the idea that 30 or more people can stand around talking to each other.
While YES, the room is big and there are a LOT of people, it's unrealistic to filter out each conversation table by table... and, in all truth, sound travels. So it's simply easier to say that - unless someone is whispering to another character (see the next question) anything you say in the room can be heard by anyone else.
Also, social based events tend to have party games which helps give a reason for why 30 people are seamlessly interacting.
So... in short, take a breath and suspend reality a touch for the sake of fun! After all, you're already doing it to pretend being a 1930s mobster, what's one more little thing?
I WANT TO WHISPER TO SOMEONE WITHOUT EVERYONE HEARING - HOW DO I DO THAT?
- If you were going to whisper to JOE in the chatroom, just type the following code.
/me whispers to JOE
- Then double click on JOE's name in the online list. This will open a private chat window.
- Type what you're whispering in that private window.
WHEN IS THIS TAKING PLACE IN MY TIME ZONE?
The game takes place on Sunday the 19th at 1am (server time) which is the following local times in these cities:
Sydney .............. Sun 12:00 noon
Perth ................. Sun 9:00 am
New Delhi .......... Sun 6:30 am
Moscow ............. Sun 4:00 am
Cairo ................. Sun 3:00 am
Paris ................. Sun 2:00 am
London .............. Sun 1:00 am
New York ........... Sat 8:00 pm

Anytime someone refers to "Server Time" or "Game Time" you can go to a site like THIS ONE (click here) to determine how that translates to your time zone. In the right side enter the event's time and set the time zone to GMT. In the left, enter your local time zone and that will tell you what time the event happens in your time zone.
HOW WILL PRIZES BE GIVEN OUT?
A link for 3 credits will be shared into the chatroom approximately every 5 minutes of the two hour scheduled event. At the end of the event the remaining credit codes will be given to people as prizes either for games or for helping the event go smoothly etc. Finally, a CA will be awarded to the individual who the event coordinator thought was the evening's MVP.
I WANT PRIZES, BUT I CAN'T COME TO THE CHAT EVENT - WILL YOU DO MORE?
YES! I will probably host these from time to time. I won't always have prizes because good story should be it's own reward. These prizes were to help tempt people who are new to RP to come out and give it a try. BUT - that said - I fully believe that the MafiaReturns Admin staff is VERY supportive of the RP community and will continue to show us love from time to time so watch for more announcements.
Also - I strongly encourage others to think about coming forward to host their own events. It's a lot of fun and a great way to give back to the game that you enjoy so much!
WHAT IS THE CHAT COMMAND TO CHANGE MY MIRC NICKNAME? WILL IT LOG ME OUT?
No, it won't log you out. If you wanted to change your nickname to bob, here's the code you'd enter.
/nick bob
Now obviously bob isn't what you want to change your name to... so instead of typing bob... use whatever name you'd like to change yours to.
WHAT IS THE CHAT COMMAND TO TAKE AN ACTION?
If you wanted to write that your character was sitting down, here's what you would type.
/me sits down.
Just use the...
/me
Command and then add whatever action you want your character to have taken.
WHAT'S THE CHAT COMMAND TO DESCRIBE MY CHARACTER?
Again you're going to use the

Some players like to keep a description saved on a notepad so they can cut/paste it into the window whenever someone new enters the scene - that way they don't have to keep typing the same thing over and over again.
For example, here's I could use for Lucky.

I WANT TO LEAVE TO GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION - HOW DOES ONE DO THAT?
If I wanted to take Lucy into a bathroom to talk with other laides, I could type
/join #GreenMillLadiesRoom
and MIRC would create a temporary chatroom called GreenMillLadiesRoom that others could go into. Likewise if I wanted to keep playing in chat and take my character their home, I could type
/join #LucyNFrankHome
and it would create a channel called LucyNFrankHome that others could join... just remember:
- If your character goes to another location, please remove yourself from the #TheGreenMill room so we know you left.
- I can't/won't be going into other private rooms during the two hour period and links for credits will ONLY appear in #TheGreenMill
- Your chat channel created with the code above is only temp. It will disappear when you log out.
CAN I KEEP PLAYING AFTER THE TWO HOURS IS OVER? CAN I COME HERE ANY TIME?
YES! #TheGreenMill is a permanant chat channel for RP. It is based in Chicago, but is there all the time. There are other chat channels like this - type this code to see a full list!

Just remember: While Chat RP is fun, you get no benefits from it other than that! Generally you will probably want to put your stories on the forums to share your stories with others, gain vision, and exp.

Out of Character comments & discussions should be made via private messages or in the temp-chat-channel #GreenMillOoC so that we can keep the IC area focused on the RP. To join the ooc channel, just type:

While HIGHLY UNLIKELY the event coordinator may say something as the event organizer NOT as her character. To do that it will be indicated with a double set of parenthesis.
