Murder at the Ravenite Started by: Havana on Nov 10, '17 21:10

The brunette let out a shaky breath as she gazed at herself in the mirror - she watched her porcelain skin glisten under the soft glow of her bathroom light, her pale white face striking in contrast against her lips painted a bright red. After spending quite some time getting prepared for tonight, she put on her finest pearls before looking one last time in the mirror, mentally preparing herself before heading out the door.

Getting in the backseat of the car that she rented specifically for this occasion, she fixed the short flapper dress so that it would fall lower down her thighs - not because she was afraid to show a bit of skin - not at all - just so it would conceal the knife hidden at the nook of her stocking top. Tapping her fingers on her knee, it was evident that the girl was nervous - she wasn't one to be easily rattled by a job, but something about this one feels like she was a rabbit hopping inside a lion's den.

Just a few days ago, her boss gave her a very delicate mission which involved her murdering a Made Man from a rival crew, the Chicago Outfit, named Joseph Adelaide. Normally, Havana would be more than glad to get her hands on a sleazebag from the Outfit, however the circumstances now were a bit different - she'd never once killed someone made. The fact that wasn't made herself and that she had to murder this guy in the presence of dozens of members from his crew... well, let's just say the odds were stacked against her favor.

She was shaken out of her daze as they pulled up to the Ravenite Club - Havana smoothed her hair before plastering a smile on her face and stepping out into the cold Chicago night. Shivering as she ran to the door, she intended on just slipping with the rest of the dancers when she felt a strong arm wrap around her waist right as she had one foot in the club, yanking her right back to the curb. "You're not a dancer. At least not one I've seen before." A man in black, probably the bouncer, accused, eyeing her from head to toe.

Havana put a hand on her hip and rolled her eyes, "It's 'cause I'm not a regular here, obviously. Boss had to import some new gals from the city over for tonight's party - I heard it's quite a big event." She lied smoothly, batting her eyelashes and stroking the man's arm. However, she could still see the doubt in the man's eyes and felt her smile waver in the slightest - the arm stroke usually did the trick, but this guy wasn't budging. "What, do I need to dance for you to prove it?" She bluffed, hoping he'd take the bait - the girl can't dance for her life. She was already considering just knocking him out just to get in when she heard a low, scratchy voice behind her followed by an arm draping around her shoulder.

"C'mon, Rick, what are you doing hassling this pretty lady, huh? She told ya she's a dancer, then she's a dancer." She looked at the man, barely taller than her, dressed in a suit that seemed two sizes too big for him, and smelled like a mix of cigarettes, alcohol, and cheap perfume. In return, he eyed her up and down as well, but instead of suspicion, there was something else in their eyes. "Though I do think she owes me a favor now that I saved her ass from getting fired," the man said with a lick of his lips as Rick apologized and opened the door for them, muttering 'sorry sir' all the while.

The loud party music filled Havana's ears as she mumbled a meek 'thank you' before trying to wiggle out of the man's grasp, but it was futile - he wasn't letting go of her. Bringing his lips to her ear, he shouted over the sound of the music, hurting Havana's ears because of the sheer volume of his voice. "Where do you think you're going, sweetheart? No, you've got a private show tonight, didn't you know?" He said with a smirk, leading her upstairs and into a private booth. Once the door's closed behind them, Havana wrestled out of his grip and she held her hands up, planning on brushing him off and leaving the soonest she can. "Sorry Sir, I'm needed downstairs and we don't offer those kinds of serv-" she started before the man put a finger on her lips and cut her off.

"What's your name, sweetheart?" he asked, stroking her cheek with his finger, causing Havana to flinch.

"Kaya," Havana replied, blurting out the first name that popped into her head, humoring his questions in hopes she could get some information out of him since after all, he wasn't letting her leave anytime soon. The man smiled at her before turning around and sitting down, revealing a set of badly crooked teeth. "Beautiful name for a beautiful girl," he noted, rubbing his hands together, watching Havana all the while.

"Thanks," the brunette answered, still standing up and crossing her arms over her body in an attempt to hide herself from his devouring gaze. "May I know yours?" She queried him carefully with wide eyes, trying to make it seem like an innocent question.

"Darling, with those looks, you can call me anything you want," he laughed, guffawing as if his joke was the funniest thing in the world. Havana forced herself to laugh along with him, now trying to think of a way to get out of there without causing a scene. "Let's not waste any time love, start dancing. Won't hurt if you took that pretty little dress off too," he added, oozing with lust and sleaze.

Havana was just about to go ahead and punch this guy in the face before hearing the door open behind her and what the intruder had to say. "Adelaide," he started, immediately alerting Havana that this was the guy she was after, "what the fuck are you doing here, goon? Boss is looking for ya, get your ass back down there Joseph before we all get into deep shit." The man said drunkenly in an annoyed tone.

"Ah fine, I'm coming, I'm coming," Joseph rose from his seat and was heading towards the door when Havana put a hand on his chest, stopping him in his tracks. "Sorry, Mister, tell your boss to give Joseph here a few more minutes to... wrap up." The woman addressed him, all the while looking straight into Joseph's eyes with feigned wanting. However, much to her dismay, Joseph brushed her off and started walking to the door, but instead of going out with the man summoning him, he shut him out and locked the room.

"Nobody tells me what to do." He stated in a dark voice, turning around and going straight for Havana, picking her slight frame off the ground and throwing her on the couch. At once, she felt his sloppy kisses on her neck and his fingers fumbling for the zipper of her dress, and Havana decided that now - in his lust-fueled craze - was the best time for her to attack. With one hand running through Joseph's hair and another reaching for her knife, it only took her a few precise movements for her to get on top of him. "A girl in control, I like it." Joseph exclaimed breathlessly, not noticing the knife behind her back.

Usually, Havana opted for guns over knives as they were less messy, but she wasn't risking the sound of a gunshot ringing out in a club full of hostile enemies. "I want you to close your eyes - I'm going to do something that's going to drive you insane." Havana instructed with Joseph willingly following suit, grinning all the while as if he'd just won the lottery. With his eyes closed, she pulled his hands up over his head and tied them to the edge of the couch with the sash of her dress, placing her knife in the middle of her teeth as she did this.

Joseph, still grinning like a madman, was now positioned in such a way that his neck was perfectly exposed, giving Havana a perfect opportunity. In one swift stroke, the blade of her newly sharpened knife cut open his neck, spraying her with blood in the process. Joseph tried in vain to break loose from his binds, but it was just too tight, so all he could do was stare at Havana with his mouth agape. "This is what happens when you think you're God's gift to man and can't keep your hands to yourself." She looked at him pitifully, wiping the blood off her face and crawling off of him as he bled out. "Dick." Havana muttered as she walked out the door, keeping her head down so nobody would suspect the dried blood that remained on her dress and neck.

Seeing the door and feeling the breeze of The Loop, Havana thought she'd slipped out undetected right before coming face to face with Rick, the bouncer from earlier, who was now suspiciously looking at the specks of blood all over her. Havana, quickly fishing a few hundred bills from her purse, handed it to the man whose expression said that he knew exactly what she did, hoping to buy his silence. However, much to her surprise, he put up a hand and shook his head in rejection, refusing her money and crossing his arms over his chest.

"Keep it, doll. You're secret's safe with me." He said, cracking the first smile of the night. "Nobody really liked that guy anyway."
