You were sitting at your regular outdoor table enjoying a hot cup of coffee when her eyes locked with yours. She never averted her gaze as she walked purposefully through 4 lanes of traffic, cars swerved to avoid her and horns were blown but none of it phased her slightly. She stopped in front of you and took a final drag from her cigarette then dropped the butt in your coffee. She raised her finger and pointed it at you as a threat. Your city is fucking with my members! Day after day you slaughter my family and no one even makes an announcement as to why. I demand a ceasefire for negotiations.
Lucy puts down her cup and looks to Marla with a smile. "Ms. Singer. Please, have a seat. Let me buy you a cup of coffee... or maybe some tea?" She waves over a member of the wait staff. "I'd be happy to discuss with you the business of our families here in Chicago."
Marla was startled at Lucy's response, "Well alright, I have a testicular cancer meeting in twenty minutes but I could have a cup". She sat down opposite Lucy and mumbled her order to the waiter. It seems the city of Chicago is full of pricks that continue to shoot at our members. Tyler just went and killed your buddy Voodoo after we found him shooting at our members. What did we ever do to you?
"You mean aside from declaring himself a Godfather where he had not earned that title? Aside from bringing hundreds of his family and their business into cities that don't belong to them?" She sips her drink. "Look, I know we don't always see eye to eye, but you seem like a very loyal Right-Hand... something I appreciate on a very personal level, so - here's some advice... at some point you have to ask yourself this question: Is my loyalty misplaced?" She leans back in her chair. "If the leader of a family sends that family into dangerous situations again and again, inviting war without reason or profit to be had... one has to consider if maybe the family didn't deserve a better - wiser - and more rational leadership. Perhaps, the sort of leadership which comes from a former, very loyal and willing to put her neck out for the greater good, Right Hand Woman?"
"Your words are interesting but Tyler is a man, or maybe even two, with a plan. How is it fair that your members are free to travel about the country regardless of where they call home, but when my members step outside of Delaware City we are inviting war without reason?" Marla picked up the coffee that was set down in front of her and takes a long sip. "You seem like a nice young girl, but I won't betray Tyler. He has a vision for the future and just because our members walk your streets does not mean you need to slaughter us. All we do against you is shoot back, why all the hostilities? Is it fair for me to kill any Chicago member that walks the streets of LA? That is a city that doesn't belong to them..."
Lucy nods. "A fair point. So you want what... a meeting of the Godfathers to discuss terms of doing business peacefully in the long term? Something that could prove profitable for all the families in the long term? Let's say I could arrange for that to happen - do you really think Tyler would come to the table?"
"A meeting sounds fair, why does it have to prove profitable? I may sustain more losses in these wars than you fancy mainstream mafia types, but when you lose members I'm sure it is much more upsetting." She finishes her coffee and checks her watch. "While I don't think Tyler would come to the meeting I am sure he would send me to represent him, he is a very busy man. I'd love to see a time of peace but I wouldn't trust the words of any, other than the council of Godfathers, who apparently 'earned' the title. We promise to fire no shots unless shots are fired at us." She stands and checks her watch once more. "My time on your shores is coming to an end, I doubt you can call off the hits in time and I'd be a fool to sit at an outside coffee shop awaiting my demise. I'm going to go find my Tyler he's probably already digging Roberts grave in the garden, shame being stuck in these loops time and time again. "
"When Tyler is ready to sit down face to face with our Godfathers - we can talk peace... until then, I fear the cycle churns on. Good hunting to you Marla." Lucy stands up and pays for her cup of coffee. "You can find Robert's body on the loop. I think Clown has already paid him a visit. If you change your mind about rising up... leading your family... I hope you'll be more willing to sit down with the Godfathers for peace than you seem to think Tyler is." Realizing that the Right Hand Man of Chicago's Godfather Varys just admitted to having a hitman to take out Robert Paulson while she was having tea with her; Marla stormed off into the street in a blind fury. A moment later a dark car rolled up beside her with it's window down and out of it came the muzzle of a gun. A loud bang. Blood spray all over the sidewalk. Marla falls dead. People scream and run about in a panic as the car peels away. Lucy leaves a large tip on the table and calmly walks off not giving another thought to the woman or their cordial discussion. |
