| The Necessity of Purging (Debate) | Started by: Taukaz on Nov 26, '17 22:06 |

I'm sorry, but you did just say, "If purging didn't still happen, my father amongst many would still be alive. Isn't that right cunt.. I mean spiral." So you are claiming I do or don't? Are you already tripping over your own words? Is this too hard for you? (Too harsh of a tone?) Oh, Alphonso, yeah... I didn't shoot him personally, but he was a suspect as a potential proer for Geordie. I'm sorry, but I didn't know Alphonso's bloodline, nor really anything about them. His blank suit did not help. It was an organic kill, one based on the senses rather than what your master's purge lists are based on (witness statements, bloodlines, and then him adding tons of additional witness statements onto the bloodlines he didn't like in order to drive up paranoia). Purges aren't going on. We're back to grassroots. I do appreciate your attempt here, but you are very in the dark, and have been for a long time, since you probably don't even know you'd been purged by your own countless times, even pre-Disorder, used, misled, and abused. You know I find it funny that Geordie/F4F would have been a hand for Tobias, given that his ancestry shot the beloved Prati on Disorder's orders. You know... I remember when I was first told that by your master. (Don't worry, I'm not a liar. He told me he found out after Disorder died.) But to think that Geordie was working with Tobias... and Tobias' own relationship with Disorder... Just funny. Anyway, good luck to you. I've lost interest in rambling. |

If you want to stay in power you have to purge. I know people may want to argue otherwise or say everyone deserves their chance. Of course people should be allowed to live their lives, but typically the people being purged are the same people who will try and take the power from the ones on top. It is is how the circle of life goes. You can say it could be prevented if you just talk to your Capos or Made Men, but please, don't be so naive. The only thing that is going to stop the people who are normally on purge lists is when you're dead or you do their bidding and become their pawn. It is like High School with guns. You're either apart of the clique or you aren't. If you aren't they will want you dead, simple as that. Some cliques are more paranoid than others. So I would try to keep the ones around that aren't as bad. If you are really someone that isn't a threat, that really is trying to be genuine and not planning to coup d'état then go incognito and prove yourself under another name. Once you make a name for yourself it is hard to change it. Your actions will forever follow clean slate or not, you can never escape it. You can never fully wipe red off your ledger. Maybe you're someone who isn't the one that really does all the bad things, maybe you're just one of the ones that is friends with them. Unfortunately, being friends or helping out those who are the ones people are really after just adds an unwanted target to your back that you can't shake either. Why? Well, how much will you trust someone who goes along with what they do? Who accepts it and doesn't try to stop it. Trust me I know what happens when you disagree with these cliques. You die, even if you're supposedly apart of it. It is all about keeping the power for as long as possible. If you aren't concerned about that and care more about other things, like just helping everyone achieve their dreams, then don't expect to live long because those who do want power will take it from you. Eventually we all die, you can't stop it forever, but if you want to try and live for as long as possible it is something that is going to happen, purging that is. |

Kurgan little era was trash and Disorder made sure to handle it accordingly lol. Remy will never be kurgan he has already showed he is much more aware than him. He is the only crewleader alive from disorders regime , guess respect is hard to show when you drowned in salt. |

Whilst what you say here and now is very true Luminosity, it's only because of people like yourself (and those in power who want you believe it) that this whole 'purges are the way this thing works' mentality persists. Let's us not forget why we as The American Mafia (or Cosa Nostra if you prefer) are really here. Last I checked we were all part of an organized crime syndicate whose primary activities are protection racketeering, the arbitration of disputes between criminals, and the organizing and oversight of illegal agreements and transactions. Other secondary activities such as gambling, loan sharking, drug-trafficking, prostitution, and fraud. Whoever believes that the whole point of what we do is to assume power and keep it by shooting the shit out of each other needs their head checked, power can be achieved just as easily through the use of structure, organisation and effort. |

Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting that everything is happy families, that disputes don't happen, that people don't get shot and that power grabs arnt to be made but to continually remove an entire family because of one person's failings is unprofitable, unresourceful and ultimately just bad for business. |

I am glad to see such a lively debate has been sparked. This seems to still be an issue that touches a nerve with many. Some here have lost sight of the topic I was wanting to debate. Taking down families is not "purging" in the sense that we saw it in times past. Takedowns happen and will continue to happen until the end of time. In all senses it is a institution around here. Those bloodlines that are proficient with a gun practically live for it. It is what keeps many of us returning time and time again. I did not want to debate the morality of killing off a crewleader because that is much more set in stone. If Godfather Cletus or Varys wanted a crewleader dead for whatever reason that is well within their right whether it was for past actions, disrespect, or simple mistrust. These are all valid reasons and well within the standards of our world. The matter I was intending to discuses was that of the leaders at the top making a "list" so to speak of suspicious individuals and executing them. This was something that was done extensively in the past to great benefit of those in power. As Luminosity said some see it as a necessity to stay in power. Geordie's actions almost prove that point. For those of you opposed I have seen that you are indeed in opposition. But, I have not seen one person come up with a viable alternative to purging. As Indifference said when you are good and honest you are taking the risk that someone will ruin it, as happened recently to Earl, Varys, and EST. So I ask you this. If not purging what is the alternative? Is it fair to expect those on top to just wait to die and not be proactive? If it was you, what would you do? Would you really sit there, work hard for what you've achieved, be nice, and just wait to catch a bullet? |

I've seen whole families taken down (or 'purged' as it were) because every single member of that family was on a list of suspicious individuals.
Just sayin... |

When was this? I'm not calling you a liar in any sense I just don't know of any. I'd prefer specifics over conjecture. |

Obviously when I say "I've seen" what I actually mean is what I've read from the diarys of my father's father's mothers pet dog, all of whom spoke of the actions and events yet unfortunately were firm believers of Omerta so withheld specifics such as names. |

Listen, guys. I think both sides have a lot of points, I mean, on one hand, you have the points that were given up by the first speaker and how succinctly he made those points -- honestly, one may say that his points were extremely pointed and welcome, but then, on the other hand, you have these other guys who came out after him to make their points and maybe some of them have a point, but maybe they don't? At this point, it is mostly up to your point of view. Now, of course, I didn't mean to be so pointed, but I'll leave you with this one nugget of wisdom. Love, love will keep us together. Think of me babe, whenever. Now, yes. A bit ambiguous? Maybe. I leave that to you. That's all I had to say here. I hope you're all willing to hear me out and more importantly, hear each other out. Amen. |

"Unless I missed the announcement, there was no reason given for Riley's as well as the rest of DT's demise. Does that mean they were killed for no reason? Or purged for whatever reason? Being that the community wasn't allowed to know the reasons for the removal, I guess one can only speculate now." |

| Reason was given it just wasn't made public I believe a decent enough story wasn't compiled in time, but the powers at be can afford to be so lackadaisical as there is nobody to challenge it that's the beauty of purging | |

Walks over to the huge drop and thinks for a moment before a gleam sparkles from within his tiny eyes. This is a safety hazard! So I'm going to have to sanction this area as off limits. No more suicides from this cliff, please and thank you. Takes out a bunch of safety cones and places them on and around the cliff-side before tapping his junior hazard safety officer badge and sighing with relief, he finally got to put this thing to good use. Seven years of training for nothing?! No way, mom. Looks like you were wrong. |

Unofficially Riley was removed as a 'potential threat'
Someone recently did challenge it! And all the good it got him was abuse from people who clearly have no actual idea of what he was trying to accomplish.
