A "Dishonorable Discharge" is just that. The character has been "killed" by the Administration for some sort of wrong doing. This is why there is a reason displayed in the character's quote, see below:
You can view this by clicking on the character's name in the Obits. The above is not the only reason, but the most common. This is one of the most harsh of punishments. One last thing, if you need help and none of your crewmates are online you can always check the Help Forum (Where this should have been posted) or contact HelpDesk.
