Everyone is invited to host a special event during Winter Festival 2017. Any and all event ideas will be considered: forum games (such as mafia/werewolf, puzzles, campfire story game, etc) or chat based rp night, contests, RP story-line on the forums, a Durden spawn, a night of jailbreaks -- whatever! We want YOU to come up with something fun for everyone on the site to take part in. Individuals and Crews alike are encouraged to participate.

To enter, please post your event as a reply to this thread below. For scheduled events please include the location, date, and time. For chat based events please include the date, time, and channel name. And for forum games or story lines please include a link so everyone can find and take part in your contest/game/story. Only events that are posted below BEFORE December 20, 2017 will count in the competition.  

During the last week of December, we'll ask everyone on the site to vote for which event they liked best. The host(s) of the winning event will receive VIP forum status for 30  days and 1 Corrupt Agent, as well as bragging rights for being this season's best host(s) in the game - which can be added to (all) your member's profile page(s).

Winner(s) will be announced January 2, 2018 by 23:59:59 Server Time.

I have an event...

"A Christmas Story"

To enter, just write a solo story for your gangster Christmas! 

There are NO RULES about the CONTENT of the story aside from TIME PERIOD SPECIFIC. It can be HAPPY / SAD / DEPRESSING / COMEDIC / WTFEVER YOU WANT as long as it is within the period and in some way pertains to the Holiday season (ChristmaHannukKwanzaYule).

RULES:

1. Title must be - - "A Christmas Story" - (your story name here)
    
2. Story must be time-period specific!                                                                                                                                          Remember, we are in the 1930s. Anything from 1930-'39 will be an acceptable period. (Obviously, using things created before 1930 it is acceptable... But no hovering cars, iPhones, Androids, etc.) You can be fantastical, but be relatively realistic. Tasteful "Christmas Magic" is allowed (ie Santa Clause, flying reindeer, elves, Krampus, Holiday ghosts, etc.) but keep it believable within context. 
    
3. Story must be posted to the "Streets" forum.
    
4. Story must be at least 5 full paragraphs and a minimum of 500 words.                                                                                                                
5. After your story is written, mobmail RogerConiglio with the link to your thread under the subject - "A Christmas Story".                          Stories that are not submitted via mobmail will not be considered. I'm not going forum diving to chase all of these down. If you forget, it's on you. 
    
6. DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: DECEMBER 24TH, 2017, SERVER TIME. Judging will be completed by January 1, 2018. A post about winners will be made in the OOC Forum!

I (RogerConiglio) will judge the stories. And I reserve the right to recruit guest judges should I see fit (depending upon the number of entries). 

Entries will be judged for content, creativity, and effort as well as structure (I.E. grammar and spelling). No hard feelings, but they need to be readable. It's not hard to run a spell check. All stories will also be run against plagiarism and placed through a word counter.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place story.

*If I DO NOT receive enough valid entries to award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, then the pot of 50 credits will be distributed accordingly to winning contestants. (I.E. if there is only one valid entry, then they are awarded 1st place, and 50 credits).

I'm entering a forum game: 2 Lies and a Truth - Holiday Gift Edition

2 Truths and a Lie was always one of my favourite party games. BUT I always like the lies the best. I love seeing what people can come up with and pass off as truth. So, I propose a Christmas version with more lying... because that just seems like something mobsters should be good at. 

So come tell us all about the worst gift you've ever gotten, that time your brothers knocked over the Christmas tree fighting over a drone, the year your whole family got yoyos and held an impromptu trick competition in the living room, the year grama choked on a fruitcake, or that one time momma got caught helping Santa "wrap his gifts"... 

I wanna hear all your best and worst Holiday gift stories! 

Rules / Gameplay 

All entries must pertain in some way to gifts received for the holidays. It can be a story about the gift itself, a side effect, or result. But it has to be directly related to a gift somehow. 

To enter, you will post two made-up stories (two lies) and one real story that actually happened to you or your family (a truth). 

Only one entry at a time, please. 

Once someone has posted their two lies and a truth, other players will guess which one is TRUTH. No process of elimination. One guess only. 

The original poster (ie the "Liar") must either confirm or deny the guess. If the guess is correct, the guesser gets one point. If not, then the "Liar" gets one point and must tell everyone which story is actually true. 

At which point the guesser will then post 2 more lies and a truth. 

If you're going to guess, you have to play next. You can't just guess and leave. If you do, you will automatically be disqualified. 

Points will be tallied after December 26, 2017. And winners posted in by January 1, 2018.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for: 

Best Guesser (player with the most points for correct guesses) - cash equal to the number of guesses x1000

Best Liar (player with most points for fooling people) - cash equal to the number of lies x1000

Best Truth (the funniest  or most outrageous truth as chosen by Jessica and the Ivory Tower) - 10 credits

Best Lie (the funniest, most believable, or most outrageous lie as chosen by Jessica and the Ivory Tower) - 10 credits
