I'm working on a project that will add more flavor and opportunities to your play-style. If you're "investment-minded" or a risk-lover, this one's for you. The project is like a diversified Index Funds Market aimed for the MR community.

Since someone's already working on a stock market, I varied my idea to ETFs (Exchange traded funds) and Index Funds.

What the hell are Index Funds?

Index Funds are basically collections of funds created by companies, organizations, and people. They're very similar to the stock market, except for the fact that you're only buying and selling in BEHALF of the fund holders. You don't touch the commodities directly. 

What are you buying and selling? In this MR-style index funds market, you'll be buying Slots with every Fund. 

(Ex: You bought 55 Slots of MR Official Fund [MRF] for $480/Slot. Total: $26,400)

How do I make profit with this thing?

There are two types of investors: short-term investors and long-term folks. If you're playing for short-term, you can SELL any Slots you hold within a trading day. Just like drug prices, Fund prices change throughout the day. For long-term, just hold the Slots and sell them when you see a huge increase in prices.

Where do you buy and sell? To the Index Funds Market Holder. Which is me, for now. The Slots you hold will be recorded in a special ledger.

Can I predict the market?

To a certain degree. During a Trading Day, everything is randomly generated. Factors that can affect prices: products, reputation of people connected to the Funds, overall ambiance of the community, RP Street Reports (I'll post these), and support from sponsors.

Don't worry, you'll get an advantage somehow. For the Fund you hold, I will give you a Handicap Ticker. This is a 4-digit number which states how good or bad the Fund is going for the day. The higher the number, the better. Max number is 9999.

What are my guarantees?

With easy money circulating here in the community, I will give you 95-100% guarantee. Besides, I won't screw anyone and make this community miserable. We all had our shares of pain here in MR, so it's better to think of the future instead. All transactions will be recorded, anyway.

The purpose of financial instruments like index funds are to distribute investments among a body of economic operations by owning shares of the companies who execute those economic operations. Unless there is any group in this game willing to partition ownership and distribute profits (across crew or city lines), there can be no user-run investments.

And considering "everything is randomly generated," this offers nothing more than a player-run casino.

Thank you for your thoughts, Sierra. And you are correct.

But I want to emphasize my reasons for this project. This is to spur "immersion" and greater activity in our finance-driven world. Casino-like odds are everywhere, even in real life. In a way, you can think of this Index Funds project as 'half RP, half investment' sorta game.

Since making money here is almost a breeze, we have tons of opportunities to try out financial systems. I guarantee that this project has a 95-100% win rate because I don't intend to scam the community - it's a waste of time. If I would create a scam, I'd rather do it in real life. And since I have tons of hustles in real life, I have no place for scams (sorry, I digress hahaha).

Some people will also back up this Index market, so there'll be no crash unless someone shoots me dead. But then again, we'll always see a war coming, right? And I have no qualms with rogues as well.
