Sullivan worked on the bodies of the recently deceased. With so many dead in the wake of the wars, it was difficult for him to keep up. Especially with just himself and his apprentice. Harvey Quinn had been with Sullivan for just over a years worth of studies and had yet to perform his first cremation, or embalming on his own. The younger of the two men looked around at all of the bodies and brought his gaze back to Sullivan and the cadaver currently in front of them. "Mr. Black?" "Yes, Mr. Quinn?" Sullivan stopped and looked up, his hands currently gripping an unseen organ in the chest cavity of the corpse they were working on. "You know I could get started on one of-" he gestured to the other bodies, but Sullivan cut him short midsentence. "Absolutely not, Mr. Quinn. You still turn green at the idea of massaging the rigor mortis out of a cadaver." Harvey pursed his lips and huffed slightly as Sullivan busied himself back to the body at hand, removing the organ he'd been working with. Harvey sucked through his teeth, trying to ease his stomach. The barely twenty-something year old man wasn't even sure why he'd chosen to apprentice here, but he'd needed a job and Sullivan basically just never let him go. With bloody gloves, Sully offered Harvey the organ, and the boy took it from him with an audible gulp of keeping his dinner down. "Place that in th-" "In the embalming fluid. I know I know..." Harvey slipped the grotesque piece of human anatomy into a jar and turned with bloodied gloves of his own and looked to his mentor. "I know you don't trust me, but..." he started, but again Sullivan interrupted him. "I trust you more than you could imagine, Mr. Quinn. I also just understand your current limitations. If I allowed you to perform your own embalming, I would be scrubbing bile from the floor... And not because of the cadavers." Both of them stopped and looked at each other for a moment before Sullivan sighed. "Very well, Mr. Quinn. If you'd like, you may begin on Miss Harper on the -other- end of the laboratory. She had no autopsy so it will be normal procedures." Harvey, with a sudden sparkle in his eye, shrieked with glee. "OH YOU WANT BE SORRY MR. BLACK!" "Good Lord my boy, you could wake the dead with that screech!" Black quickly scolded. "My apologies, but you won't be sorry!" Harvey rushed off to the other side of the room and began gathering his tools. "Somehow I doubt that..." Sullivan mused quietly under his breath. He continued his work in peace, placing each new organ he extracted into the embalming fluid as he went. Surprisingly, as time went by, Sullivan hadn't heard anything from Harvey yet so in curious suspicion he turned to look. The boy had started to make the incisions to drain the body of its blood and pump it full of embalming fluids. With a surprised, smug grin, Sully nodded. "That's going -much- better than planned." Apparently, his protege was further along than he had thought and that pleased him. Though the pleasantries were short lived. As the bodies fluids began to eject, Harvey lost his marbles all over the floor and table. Sullivan groaned, "What did I tell you!?" He tried so very hard to not laugh, but the situation was quite comical as Harvey slipped and fell on his ass, landing in his own bodily ejaculations. With a heavy sigh, Sullivan removed his soiled gloves for a new, clean pair. "Go shower and lie down..." He gave Harvey a glare that made him jump up and hurriedly vacate the room before Sully began cleaning. |
